Fortunately, Fang Qi, the captain of Yiling Middle School's basketball team, arrived with his teammates. He intervened, causing the other boys to back down, though they warned they'd be back. Relieved, Luo Qinge, who had come to watch Fang Qi play, happily played basketball with him.
The new school year brought strict regulations aimed at making the school a provincial-level model. The rules covered everything from uniform modifications and neat appearances to a ban on long hair for boys, and makeup or perms for girls. Mobile phone use was also prohibited during class. However, Chen Yimu, known for his flamboyant style, showed up with a trendy new perm. His defiance was short-lived as the Director and his homeroom teacher immediately caught him.
The Director pulled Chen Yimu aside, criticizing his appearance and reminding him that high schoolers shouldn't perm their hair. He ordered Chen Yimu to publicly apologize to the entire school during the break, specifically for his tardiness and perm, calling him an "epitome of breaking rules."
During the broadcast, Chen Yimu delivered an overly dramatic apology, focusing only on his tardiness with flowery language about "unavoidable reasons" and hoping to never be late again for "ten thousand years," deliberately omitting any mention of his perm. Da Ming ordered his men to apologize to Zhang Haotian and the girls, assuring them that no one would bother them again. He offered Zhang Haotian his business card, but Zhang Haotian politely declined, stating they were "good students" who wouldn't need it. As the students walked back to school, Cai Weiming remarked on Lu Yibai's absence. Just as Lin Xingchen was about to call him, they saw Lu Yibai and Yang Ruoying sitting together, side by side.
Lin Xingchen's mood plummeted, and later, she watched unhappily as Lu Yibai left with Yang Ruoying after school. Afterwards, Yang Ruoying confided in Lin Xingchen about her past: a middle school boy named Lin Yang, who was at the bottom of the class, had liked her.
