As the power comes back on, Jin Yao is startled awake from a beautiful dream. Annoyed by insistent knocking at her door, her irritation quickly turns to a flutter of excitement when she sees Mr. Xie. He greets the ladies, Jin Yao and Xia Xiaoning, with a charming smile and presents them with a meticulously prepared breakfast, including a green macaron he calls "Cactus Girl," which Xia Xiaoning finds delicious.
Mr. Xie then extends an invitation for a BBQ outing, which Jin Yao readily accepts, hoping to foster neighborly bonds. Just as plans are made, Gu Chenyu approaches Xie Fei, intending to discuss something. Xie Fei, however, cuts him off, stating that he and Xia Xiaoning have already made plans for an outing. Gu Chenyu tries to dissuade Xia Xiaoning, mentioning her foot injury, but Xie Fei quickly assures him that her injury has healed.
Gu Chenyu then decides to join the outing as well. Jin Yao changes her outfit, commenting to Xia Xiaoning on her "pink peach luck" and how handsome Mr. Xie is. Xia Xiaoning, however, claims that Mr. Xie can be a "torturer" at times. Gu Chenyu confronts Xie Fei, questioning his move next door, implying a romantic interest in Xia Xiaoning.
Xie Fei clarifies that he moved next to Xia Xiaoning, not Gu Chenyu, and tells Gu Chenyu to stop fooling around and not to joke about feelings. Xie Fei then asks if Gu Chenyu is truly concerned about him or Xia Xiaoning. Gu Chenyu responds by reminding Xie Fei to act professionally as a boss in the company, which Xie Fei playfully dismisses before they depart.
At the outdoor BBQ, Xie Fei expresses dissatisfaction with Gu Chenyu sitting next to Xia Xiaoning. Xie Fei attempts to show attention to Xia Xiaoning, but Gu Chenyu frequently intercepts his efforts. Xia Xiaoning asks Xie Fei for dessert-making tips. Gu Chenyu shares a link with Xia Xiaoning, suggesting that Mobuyu's work will impress her. Xie Fei, curious, asks to see what they are looking at, then decides to go fishing for extra food. Xia Xiaoning goes fishing.
Jin Yao tells Xie Fei how obsessed Xia Xiaoning is with Mobuyu. Xie Fei then approaches Xia Xiaoning and Gu Chenyu, who are fishing and discussing Mobuyu. Gu Chenyu asks Xia Xiaoning if she genuinely likes Mobuyu. Xia Xiaoning clarifies that while she admires him, her recommendation is primarily because his voice is perfect for the "Gu Zixuan" role in their project.
Xie Fei interjects, criticizing Mobuyu's works as "too rough" with "bad sound quality" and "not true to his name." Xia Xiaoning passionately defends Mobuyu, calling his works classics and expressing pride in being his fan, regardless of his ranking. As she speaks, Xie Fei "accidentally" splashes water on Gu Chenyu, feigning an apology and offering clothes from his car. Xie Fei continues his attempts to disparage Mobuyu, calling him "mediocre" and "outdated." Just as Xie Fei is speaking, Gu Chenyu "accidentally" spills water on Xie Fei's pants in retaliation. During a meeting to discuss the "Lethe" project, Xie Fei dramatically enters, complaining about not being invited. He quickly asserts that "Lethe" is a good project with market potential and suggests Xie Wuchang, a popular online voice actor, for the male lead, highlighting the attention he could bring.
Xia Xiaoning, however, disagrees, stating that Xie Wuchang's voice is too flamboyant and not suitable for the male lead's cold and indifferent persona in "Lethe." She firmly believes Mobuyu's voice is the most fitting. Yanran expresses doubt, citing Mobuyu's busy schedule due to his high status, making him difficult to secure. Xia Xiaoning insists they should still try to contact him. Challenged by Yanran, Xia Xiaoning bravely accepts the seemingly impossible task.
Back at her desk, Xia Xiaoning is ecstatic to see that Mobuyu has finally read her private message, marking a "historic breakthrough." She quickly drafts a follow-up message, identifying herself as "iron powder flower Xiaoning" and extending an invitation for Mobuyu to participate in the ancient Chinese radio drama adapted from "Lethe." Gu Chenyu, observing her joy, inadvertently smiles, leading to a brief, awkward eye contact between them.
Gu Chenyu then calls Xia Xiaoning over, advising her to abandon the idea of inviting Mobuyu. He explains that Mobuyu values his privacy and the widespread appeal of "Lethe" could potentially expose him. Xia Xiaoning, however, presents a meticulously crafted plan demonstrating how she can guarantee Mobuyu's privacy, even including a confidentiality agreement and proof of his previous online involvement with "Lethe" related audio.
Moved by her dedication and thoroughness, Gu Chenyu allows her to proceed, and Xia Xiaoning leaves beaming with joy. Elsewhere, Xie Fei, now revealed to be the renowned online voice actor Xie Wuchang, is seen dancing and singing, proudly praising his perfect and elegant voice. He mockingly scoffs at Xia Xiaoning's admiration for Mobuyu, whom he labels an "outdated voice actor." Meanwhile, Xia Xiaoning is quietly pondering the daunting task. Yanran approaches her, asking about the progress of contacting Mobuyu.
Yanran acknowledges the difficulty of the task and advises Xia Xiaoning not to be disheartened if she fails. She also imparts a more general lesson: to "know how to advance and retreat" and "do what you can" in her career. Later, Yanran discusses the situation with Gu Chenyu, acknowledging Xia Xiaoning's lack of progress.
She admits that she intentionally gave Xia Xiaoning such a challenging task, hoping it would provide her with valuable experience and lessons, believing that some young girls expose their ambitions too quickly. Gu Chenyu, however, advocates for greater leniency and opportunities for newcomers, highlighting Xia Xiaoning's diligence despite her initial weak foundation. Yanran reminds Gu Chenyu that she is always willing to give newcomers a chance, otherwise Xia Xiaoning wouldn't have been hired.
They then shift to discussing the female lead for "Lethe," with Gu Chenyu emphasizing the importance of finding new talent who genuinely love voice acting and cherish their roles. As their work conversation concludes, Yanran notes that Gu Chenyu only ever talks about work and suggests they have dinner together at their old school restaurant. Gu Chenyu hesitates, but eventually agrees to join her later after a client meeting. A sudden, heavy rainstorm breaks out.
Xia Xiaoning, still at the office, receives a frantic call from Aunt Zheng, informing her that her mother has been rushed to Xincheng Hospital due to gas poisoning. Panicked, Xia Xiaoning rushes out into the downpour, desperately trying to hail a cab, but none stop due to the severe weather. Just as she is completely drenched, Gu Chenyu's car pulls up, and he insists she get in.
Inside the car, Xia Xiaoning tearfully expresses her deep bond with her mother, recounting how her mother has always been by her side and how she longed to provide her with a better life. Gu Chenyu calms her, advising her to stay strong. Upon arriving at the hospital, Aunt Zheng informs Xia Xiaoning that her mother has been in rescue for two hours.
Aunt Zheng then explains how she discovered Xia Xiaoning's mother; after she didn't show up for their daily 8 AM dance, Aunt Zheng went to check on her, noticed a strong gas smell, and after getting no answer at the door, called 120. Aunt Zheng then departs. Gu Chenyu stays with Xia Xiaoning in the waiting area. Xia Xiaoning receives a reassuring private message from Mobuyu, telling her that "everything will be fine."
Meanwhile, Yanran waits alone at the restaurant, noticing the late hour. As dawn breaks, the doctor emerges, announcing that Xia Xiaoning's mother has been successfully rescued but needs to remain hospitalized for observation due to inhaling a large amount of toxic gas. The doctor also mentions that "her boyfriend" has already completed the hospitalization procedures, much to Xia Xiaoning's surprise. Xia Xiaoning expresses her gratitude to Gu Chenyu, who dismisses it as unimportant.
Despite the ordeal, Xia Xiaoning remains remarkably optimistic, telling Gu Chenyu how lucky she feels to have people like Aunt Zheng and him supporting her. Gu Chenyu then asks if she would be upset if Mobuyu didn't accept the "Lethe" role. Xia Xiaoning responds that she wouldn't, as he is a good idol who does not pursue roles for profit, and if he declined, he would have his own valid reasons.
Gu Chenyu then drives her home to retrieve some essentials for her mother. While there, he notices his own photos displayed on her wall. This sight triggers a flashback to a past confrontation with his father, who questioned his pursuit of a voice acting career, deeming it "not proper." Gu Chenyu defiantly vowed to build a professional dubbing company to prove its legitimacy, insisting he would not rely on family money or let anyone know he was his father's son.
Later, Xie Fei is seen discussing Xia Xiaoning's whereabouts with Yanran, who subtly points out his growing affection for Xia Xiaoning. Xie Fei openly admits his feelings, then jokingly advises Yanran to pay more attention to her own romantic pursuits. Back at the hospital, a nurse informs Xia Xiaoning that her mother has woken up and been transferred to a different ward. Xia Xiaoning nervously asks Gu Chenyu if she looks haggard, worried about her mother seeing her distressed.
Gu Chenyu assures her she looks "very good," adding that she would look "even better if she could smile." He gently reaches out, appearing to almost embrace her, but instead, he simply removes a stray leaf from her hat. They share a small laugh, and then part ways.
