In the morning, Gu Chenyu waited by his car for Xia Xiaoning. As she entered the vehicle, she commented that he seemed a little different today, to which he playfully responded, "Then let you see enough." As they approached the company, Xia Xiaoning asked to be dropped off early. She explained that as he was the boss and she his assistant, their relationship might lead to gossip, especially with the "Wang Chuan" Female No. 2 audition taking place that day.
She felt it would be inappropriate for them to arrive together, given he would be the final decision-maker. Gu Chenyu agreed to respect her wishes and encouraged her, praising the significant progress she had made in her recording, crediting both his own and Mobuyu's guidance, and assuring her that her chances of selection were very high. Reassured, Xia Xiaoning bid him goodbye, calling him "Mr. Gu," and he affectionately called her "little."
Later that afternoon, the audition began, but Gu Chenyu was nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, Gu Chenyu met with a man who seemed to already know that Gu Chenyu was also Mobuyu. They sat face to face having a meal, and Gu Chenyu expressed his disdain for the man's actions. The man shamelessly dismissed it, claiming "occupation does not distinguish high or low." Gu Chenyu then inquired about the price for information, and upon the man's gesture, readily agreed.
The man then offered a crucial piece of news, implying he would share who sold him the information. Gu Chenyu called him an "unruly scum," irritated by his lack of professional ethics. The man then provocatively warned Gu Chenyu to "be careful with women," revealing that the IP address of certain emails originated from Gu Chenyu's company and that the woman in the photos was the "director behind the scenes" of the current situation. Gu Chenyu, enraged, left abruptly.
After her audition, Xia Xiaoning was praised for her excellent performance and was told she would likely be shortlisted. Despite the positive feedback, she was disheartened by Gu Chenyu's absence. She tried calling him and sending messages, but received no reply. Unbeknownst to her, Gu Chenyu was at a bar, reviewing information from a paparazzi who had claimed Xia Xiaoning hired him to take compromising photos.
The bar owner noted the similarity to Ren Xi's past situation, where two rising newcomers, both linked to Xie Fei and Gu Chenyu, were involved in a scandal for hype. Gu Chenyu, however, firmly stated his belief in Xia Xiaoning's innocence. He tasked the bar owner with a thorough investigation, asserting that he did not want Xia Xiaoning to suffer any harm because of him.
He acknowledged that until the truth was uncovered, Xia Xiaoning might have to endure some hardship. That evening, Xia Xiaoning anxiously awaited Gu Chenyu's return home. When he finally arrived, she pretended to be taking out the trash. Gu Chenyu spoke to her coldly about having been busy, and then went inside. Xia Xiaoning’s friend, Jin Yao, also expressed frustration that Xie Fei had not replied to her messages, mentioning his constant phone usage for games.
Inside, Gu Chenyu instructed his assistant to send him Xia Xiaoning's audition file, musing to himself that he had to "wrong Xiaoning" until the situation was clear. Confused by Gu Chenyu’s sudden coldness, Xia Xiaoning pondered if it was because their relationship hadn't been formally established. She decided to record a confession to him. After several attempts, she recorded a heartfelt message for both "Mobuyu" and "Gu Chenyu," expressing her love and hoping for a reply.
Gu Chenyu later received the recording bear and listened to her confession. He began to type a loving reply, but then hesitated, deleted it, and chose not to respond. The next morning, Yanran was waiting outside Gu Chenyu's apartment building. She greeted him, mentioning she had been worried when she couldn’t reach him and had brought him breakfast, which she then entered his apartment to put in the refrigerator.
Just then, Xia Xiaoning emerged from her own apartment and saw Yanran leaving Gu Chenyu's place. Xia Xiaoning's face fell, but Gu Chenyu offered no explanation, merely greeting her before leaving for work with Yanran. During a subsequent meeting, Yanran proposed directly appointing Tang Xue as the Female No. 2, citing her professionalism and popularity.
Xia Xiaoning, however, vehemently opposed this, arguing that bypassing the audition process undermined the fairness of the competition and prevented new talent from being discovered, especially within their own company. Gu Chenyu ultimately decided he would listen to Tang Xue's audition before making a final decision and then abruptly left the meeting, leaving Yanran pleased. Later, Xie Fei approached Xia Xiaoning, reassuring her about the role arrangements and praising her unique voice.
He invited her to dinner, but she politely declined. Xia Xiaoning confided in Jin Yao, revealing that Gu Chenyu was Mobuyu. Jin Yao was utterly shocked by the revelation, describing it as a "sadomasochistic love story." Xia Xiaoning expressed her disappointment that after his confession, he had acted as if nothing had happened the next morning. Enraged, Jin Yao called both Gu Chenyu and Xie Fei "bastards" and declared her intention to confront Gu Chenyu at his home.
Xia Xiaoning, however, suggested they instead use the two amusement park tickets she had bought to invite him out. Jin Yao, taking matters into her own hands, directly messaged Gu Chenyu, asking him for a date at the amusement park that weekend. Gu Chenyu quickly replied, citing a client meeting. Jin Yao, frustrated, declared that if he wouldn't accompany Xia Xiaoning, she would, emphasizing their deep sisterhood.
Meanwhile, Yanran arranged a client meeting with Mr. Lin at the amusement park, with her assistant suggesting it could be a romantic date with Gu Chenyu. On the day of the trip, Jin Yao unexpectedly canceled due to a script meeting, leaving Xia Xiaoning to go alone. It was later revealed that Jin Yao's cancellation was pre-arranged with Xie Fei.
Coincidentally, Xie Fei appeared, offering Xia Xiaoning a "buy one, get one free" milk tea, claiming he hoped for a fated encounter at the park. Despite Xia Xiaoning's initial reservations, she accepted the drink. Xie Fei had previously purchased sun protection, mentioning to someone that he intended to go to the amusement park with Xia Xiaoning. He also spoke of his persistent efforts with his "cactus girl" and his desire to make one last attempt.
Unbeknownst to Xie Fei, Gu Chenyu was also at the amusement park, wrapping up a business meeting with Mr. Hao at a nearby cafe. Mr. Hao expressed gratitude for the convenient location, which allowed him to spend time with his child. As Gu Chenyu and Yanran were leaving, Yanran pointed out Xie Fei and Xia Xiaoning, asking if they were on a date. Gu Chenyu placed his hand on Yanran's arm, stating he was afraid she was cold, as he observed Xie Fei and Xia Xiaoning together.
