Wenderella's Diary Episode 2 Recap
> Wenderella's Diary Recap
Wen Rou’s composure briefly faltered as she spotted Su Ziguang, her ex-boyfriend, but she quickly regained her ladylike demeanor and greeted him alongside Shan Liang. Shan Liang proudly introduced Wen Rou as his wife, a high heels designer for the fashion brand Polimoda, praising her as a perfect woman who even prepared his daily homemade lunches. He affectionately mentioned that she never lied to him.
While Shan Liang was called away to sign a document, Su Ziguang immediately cornered Wen Rou, exposing her facade. He revealed that her Polimoda brand was merely an empty shell without mass production, and her "homemade" sandwiches were store-bought.
He stated he had come specifically for her, questioning if Shan Liang truly understood her, and implying her online persona was a deception similar to a previous experience he had with a girl who misrepresented her humble dwelling as a stacked villa. Wen Rou countered, insisting her love for Shan Liang was genuine, despite her hidden truths, and that she was committed to making Polimoda a success for him. Su Ziguang dismissed her aspirations as an illusion.
Upon Shan Liang's return, Su Ziguang attempted to expose Wen Rou’s true character, insinuating she was not as innocent as she seemed. However, Shan Liang, fiercely loyal, misconstrued Su Ziguang's intentions as a disgruntled ex-suitor harassing his wife. He confidently declared his complete trust in Wen Rou and warned Su Ziguang to stay away, reassuring his wife of his protection. As Su Ziguang left, he muttered about Shan Liang's naivety, calling him a "sweet simpleton."
Later, Wen Rou confided in Han Qing about Shan Liang’s unwavering belief, comparing it to Xu Xian's loyalty when Fa Hai told him Bai Suzhen was a snake in "The Legend of the White Snake." She was convinced Shan Liang would never doubt her, believing her sincerity would prevail, though Han Qing cautioned her against playing a dangerous game.
Wen Rou, unwilling to give up her humble cottage where she felt most authentic and could gaze at the stars, symbolizing her dreams, asserted her determination to succeed. On their wedding day, Wen Rou, in her bridal gown, expressed her joy to Han Qing, who then revealed a crisis: the landlord had double-booked the manor venue, leading to a film crew arriving to shoot a romantic drama.
Seeing Director Zhang mistake Shan Liang for an actor and begin giving him instructions, Wen Rou realized confronting them would expose her lie about the manor being her home. She decided to go along with the charade. Han Qing quickly explained to Shan Liang that Wen Rou had specially hired the renowned Director Zhang and his team to film their wedding documentary, prompting Shan Liang to ask their guests to cooperate with the film crew.
During the staged "rehearsal," Director Zhang repeatedly interrupted, demanding more emotion and smiles from the "couple" and guests. After a lunch break where the real wedding guests ate boxed meals from the crew, Han Qing discovered from the script that a climactic scene involved a lamp falling on the groom, leaving him crippled and in a wheelchair for life.
Horrified at the thought of Shan Liang being harmed, Wen Rou, driven by genuine love, feigned a sudden fainting spell just as the prop lamp was about to drop, pulling Shan Liang to shield him. The director, abandoning the scene, dismissed his crew. Shan Liang, concerned, comforted Wen Rou, who, still acting, expressed her overwhelming emotions and a wish for a private wedding, just for them, without cameras. Shan Liang, touched, sent the film crew away.
Their actual wedding then proceeded with Shan Liang's father as witness. Shan Liang declared himself the happiest man in the world to be marrying his beloved Wen Rou, and after heartfelt vows, they exchanged rings and shared a loving kiss. Unseen, Su Ziguang observed, confirming on a phone call with Mr. Shen that he had arranged the film crew, disappointed that his attempt to expose Wen Rou had been thwarted by her quick thinking.
After their wedding, Wen Rou began documenting their married life on Weibo, which coincided with a steady increase in Polimoda's sales. She confided in Han Qing that she believed herself to be Shan Liang's Cinderella. Soon after, Shan Liang brought Wen Rou to his family home. His father gifted Wen Rou a pair of silver earrings, which she happily put on. However, Shan Liang, knowing she was allergic to silver, immediately asked her to take them off, showing his attentiveness.
Shan Liang's father then had Wen Rou change into more comfortable clothes to help him with his passion for farming. During this visit, Shan Liang's father inquired about Wen Rou's family. Wen Rou smoothly recounted a pre-prepared lie, stating she attended a boarding school and that her parents, who lived abroad, were unable to attend the wedding. Shan Liang's father expressed his approval of Wen Rou and Shan Liang, sharing a poignant story about Shan Liang's childhood.
He recalled that Shan Liang's mother passed away when he was ten, leaving him silent and isolated at school. One day, however, Shan Liang suddenly became cheerful again, crediting a girl who had helped him during his difficult time, showing him that there were many good people in the world. Moved, Wen Rou privately resolved to reach a point where she could stand as Shan Liang's equal, at which time she would reveal her entire past to him, without reservation.
Wen Rou continued her online persona, posting staged photos of her "morning runs" and "buying Shan Liang's favorite bread" on Weibo. At the factory, placing additional orders, she excitedly shared with Han Qing that Polimoda’s daily sales had surpassed Wanli, expressing her ambition to overtake them in every aspect. However, soon after finalizing the order, Han Qing called with dire news: Polimoda’s trademark had been bought at a high price, invalidating their existing contracts. Wen Rou immediately suspected Su Ziguang.
She confronted him, and he admitted to orchestrating the film crew at her wedding. He refused to sell the trademark back, stating he bought it for "fun" and provocatively suggested her business success was only due to her marriage to Shan Liang. Wen Rou vehemently denied this, asserting that her earnings were from her own efforts and that she chose Shan Liang for love, not shortcuts.
With her trademark gone and the factory refusing to halt production due to contractual obligations and potential losses, a disheartened Wen Rou retreated to her old cottage, reflecting that "every cause has an effect" and that her "retribution is myself," like Cinderella returning to her original state. Su Ziguang watched her from afar, musing that he sought to understand why she was honest with him but lied to her husband, a mystery that profoundly intrigued him.
Back home, Shan Liang noticed Wen Rou’s somber mood. As she began to confess, he interrupted with a surprise: a beautiful handbook he created from her design sketches found on her workbench. He revealed he knew her goal was to surpass Wanli, contrasting Polimoda's commitment to unique design with Wanli’s trend-chasing tendencies to cater to popular tastes. He pledged to help her "surpass Wanli" together, encouraging her to please herself rather than others.
Deeply moved, Wen Rou thanked him and reaffirmed her promise to become the best designer but kept silent about her current crisis. Han Qing advised Wen Rou against either apologizing to Su Ziguang or confessing to Shan Liang, as both options would lead to financial ruin and implicate Shan Liang. Instead, she proposed stalling their partner, Xunmi, for two weeks while she secured a new trademark from another authentic Italian workshop.
At Xunmi, an employee named Zou Jing expressed strong concerns to Shan Liang about the delayed shipment of high heels, which were promised as March 8th gifts, questioning his commitment to Xunmi’s reputation over his wife's company. Wen Rou arrived with afternoon tea, overhearing the conversation. She confidently assured Zou Jing that the factory issues were resolved, and all shipments would be made the following day, promising that Xunmi's integrity would not be compromised.
Despite her brave assurances, the unresolved trademark issue weighed heavily on Wen Rou. Determined not to disappoint Shan Liang, she decided to seek help from an unspecified person, even if it meant setting aside her ambition to surpass Wanli. She vowed not to let Shan Liang down, not even once.
