Unusual Idol Love Episode 8 Recap
> Unusual Idol Love Recap
Hu Li furiously confronted Ji Nian after discovering her deception. He demanded an explanation, but Ji Nian, distraught, locked him in the room to calm down, while she frantically called Bai Dongchen for help. From behind the closed door, Hu Li pressed her, questioning if all her affectionate gestures, from their fabricated love story to her claim of being his fan, were solely for the RMB500,000.
Ji Nian initially denied it, then admitted it was a "measure of expediency" to keep him safe. Hu Li remained unconvinced, accusing her of being "rotten" for cozying up to him for money. When he asked if she ever had genuine feelings, Ji Nian, through tears and defiance, declared that it was all an act for the money and she had "never liked him." Hu Li called her incorrigible. Soon after, Bai Dongchen arrived with Fatty.
Fatty attempted to restore Hu Li's trust by showing him photos and videos from his phone, but Hu Li dismissed them as easily faked. Fatty then presented five detailed diaries, one for each year he had worked for Hu Li, filled with entries and illustrations. These personal records finally convinced Hu Li, who declared he would now trust Fatty alone. Hu Li then inquired about Yang Zhe.
Fatty explained that Yang Zhe had collaborated with their company but wasn't close to Hu Li privately, and he didn't know why Yang Zhe had hired Ji Nian to "protect" Hu Li. Hu Li corrected him, stating it was "house arrest," not "protection," and questioned why Yang Zhe hadn't informed him directly. Ji Nian then interjected, stating that Yang Zhe merely paid her, claiming Hu Li was dangerous and the less she knew, the better.
Feeling betrayed, Hu Li accused Ji Nian of exploiting his feelings for financial gain. Hu Li, wanting to leave, was stopped by Ji Nian. She argued that she had promised Yang Zhe to house him and feared losing her payment if he left before she received it. She threatened to leak his secrets if he abandoned her. Angered but resigned, Hu Li agreed to stay but defiantly told her to "know her place."
Bai Dongchen later instructed Fatty to keep the situation a secret, especially from Chief Zhou, emphasizing that Hu Li's current location with Ji Nian was the safest. Hu Li then began tormenting Ji Nian, treating her as his personal servant.
He made her prepare specific meals and, one night, ordered RMB2,999 worth of seafood takeout, making her pay and then demanding she peel all the shellfish for him before he would eat, telling her to wake him when she was finished. Ji Nian, seething, complied. The next morning, Ji Nian was abruptly woken by a team of cleaners Hu Li had hired for a weekly deep-cleaning service, which she was also forced to pay for.
Hu Li lectured her on time and financial management. He then ordered a new, top-of-the-line smartphone, which cost RMB19,800, and once again, made Ji Nian pay upon delivery. Ji Nian vented her frustrations to Luo Li about Hu Li's outrageous behavior. Later, Bai Dongchen called Ji Nian, offering to let Hu Li stay at his villa to alleviate her burden.
Ji Nian refused, explaining she feared "losing both the person and the money" if she handed him over, indicating her continued obligation for the payment. At her coffee shop, Ji Nian was startled when a delivery person arrived, demanding RMB380 for takeout that Hu Li had ordered to her address. While delivering the food to Hu Li, she inadvertently overheard him telling Fatty that he never liked her and was merely playing along to expose a "gold-digger."
Heartbroken and enraged by his words, Ji Nian confronted Hu Li, accusing him of being afraid of "losing money," and then defiantly kicked his beloved motorcycle. Hu Li was momentarily stunned but retorted that he wasn't even angry, questioning why she had the right to be. Ji Nian then spat on his motorcycle, before storming off. Hu Li realized he had truly angered her but stubbornly refused to apologize, instead suggesting they resume their game.
That evening, Ji Nian did not return home. Hu Li, growing worried, tried calling her, but her phone was off. He then checked the coffee shop and found a note from Luo Li, directing him to a KTV. At the KTV, Ji Nian was already tipsy, singing a sorrowful song with Luo Li.
Luo Li suggested that Ji Nian's anger indicated she still cared for Hu Li, but Ji Nian vehemently denied it, claiming she was merely upset by his accusations. She expressed deep confusion and hurt, questioning if Hu Li's past affections were merely an act and if he harbored no genuine feelings for her. Hu Li entered the room, and Luo Li, sensing the tension, quickly excused herself.
Hu Li tried to take Ji Nian home, but she resisted, challenging his right to control her and sarcastically asking if he was "acting as a big bully president who's fallen in love" with her. She declared she didn't want to go home to be "bullied and hated." Hu Li, finally acknowledging his fault, apologized and retracted his harsh words. However, Ji Nian was still deeply wounded, stating it was too late.
She reiterated that she had not betrayed him and was not an actress capable of faking feelings. She concluded that they were fundamentally incompatible, and once he was gone, she would no longer worry about being implicated, nor would he fear being lied to. Despite her continued resistance, Hu Li gently picked her up and carried her out of the KTV.
