Shi Miao and Shi Fen are a bickering brother-sister pair. Shi Fen, with his big, adorable eyes, often bullied Shi Miao, even drinking her milk as an infant. He frequently took her food and interests, leading her from dance to taekwondo, turning her into a strong, "rough" girl. Their mother's departure left them with only their father and constant poverty.
One day, longing for a roasted sausage, Shi Fen promised to only take a bite, but instead devoured the entire sausage, infuriating Shi Miao and initiating a pattern of physical retaliation. Shi Miao hoped to escape Shi Fen by applying to an art academy for high school. However, due to her father's drunkenness, he mistakenly approved her enrollment in the same ordinary high school as Shi Fen. Shi Miao was furious upon receiving her admission letter.
Shi Fen gave her his old, vandalized textbook, explaining that their father's drinking had depleted their funds for new books. After another beating from Shi Miao, he promised to deliver a new English book by the first day of school. On the morning of the first day, Shi Miao was eager to be on time, wearing a special hairpin she'd saved for, while Shi Fen aimed to be fashionably late.
Shi Fen neglected breakfast, finding their father passed out by the fridge. Shi Miao had to tend to her father, then rushed to school via public transport. Shi Fen, after a leisurely breakfast, cycled to school. Upon arriving, Shi Miao was excited to see Wang Keke, a popular and perfect girl from her middle school whom she deeply admired and hoped to befriend, though Wang Keke barely remembered her. Suddenly, Shi Fen's backpack flew through the window, hitting Wang Keke.
Shi Fen climbed into the wrong classroom and, upon seeing Shi Miao, was promptly thrown out by her. Shi Miao then gave him a hand signal, telling him to pretend not to know her, fearing he would jeopardize her chance to befriend Wang Keke. Wang Keke, mistaking Shi Miao's actions for protection, was grateful and declared them best friends.
During English class, Shi Miao was embarrassed when she couldn't read a defaced word in her textbook, leading the teacher to scold her. Wang Keke, believing Shi Miao's hairpin was a distraction, temporarily confiscated it. Later, on the basketball court, Shi Fen got stuck on a hoop and called for Shi Miao's help. As they drifted off to sleep, Shi Miao asked Shi Fen about the meaning of high school friendships, wondering if her connection with Miao Miaomiao, who appreciated and cared for her, was indeed a true friendship.
Episode 2 Recap
Siblings Shi Fen and Shi Miao are fiercely battling over two meal vouchers they won at a national talent competition for an expensive restaurant called Dream Paradise. After a violent struggle where Shi Miao attempts to kick Shi Fen's bike and crashes into a tree, Shi Fen seemingly gives her a voucher, but it turns out to be fake, leading to another fight.
The school doctor intervenes, setting a challenge: the sibling who finds a companion for dinner before school ends will win the vouchers. Shi Fen confidently seeks friends, while Shi Miao feels dejected, believing she has none. Shi Miao tries to secure a companion, apologizing to Wang Keke, who accepts. Shi Miao mistakenly believes Wang Keke has agreed to go to dinner with her.
Meanwhile, Miao Miaomiao observes Shi Fen coercing Shi Miao for her meal card and misinterprets the situation, believing Shi Miao has been deeply hurt or swindled by Shi Fen, thus vowing to protect her. Later, Zhen Kaixin kindly pays for Shi Miao's lunch using Shi Fen's meal card, even ordering an extra dish, leaving Shi Miao smitten with him.
Wang Keke, witnessing this, mistakenly believes Shi Miao and Zhen Kaixin are a couple and tries to arrange a dinner for the three of them, but Shi Miao's unfamiliarity with Zhen Kaixin's name leads to confusion and Wang Keke's anger. You Le undergoes a stunning transformation from an "ugly" girl to a beautiful one, captivating everyone, though Shi Fen had always seen her beauty. Shi Fen decides to invite You Le to dinner.
She initially rejects him, misunderstanding his explanation of how he won the vouchers (through dancing) as him engaging in a striptease and being disappointed. Hao Ren then challenges Shi Fen: if Shi Fen fails to get You Le to dinner, he will tie Hao Ren's shoelaces for a semester; if he succeeds, Hao Ren will concede defeat. To gather information about You Le, Shi Fen attempts to bribe You Le's deskmate, Zheng Mei, with five chicken legs.
With only two meal cards between himself and Zhen Kaixin (one each), Shi Fen needs more. He approaches Cheng Haonan, who leads the music club and wishes for Shi Fen to be his follower. Haonan proposes lending three meal cards if Shi Fen agrees, or two for a three-day loan if he doesn't. Shi Fen's attempts at persuasion fail, and he only secures a loan of two cards.
He then resorts to intimidating Shi Miao into giving him her meal card, which she reluctantly surrenders to avoid being seen with him by Wang Keke. After receiving the five chicken legs, Zheng Mei reveals You Le's two traits: a fondness for the smell of scented water and a soft heart when others cry. Shi Fen, armed with this information, sprays himself with scented water and invites You Le to a buffet.
However, You Le has an allergic reaction and flees, admitting the scented water information was a trick to gauge sincerity. They are called back to class and, along with Zhen Kaixin, are assigned detention. Shi Fen then devises a plan, using a fabricated emotional family story to move the teacher to tears, thereby getting You Le excused from detention. You Le, now free, finally agrees to accompany Shi Fen to the buffet.
Wang Keke gets locked in a toilet, and Shi Miao rescues her. In gratitude, Wang Keke agrees to be Shi Miao's companion. Both Shi Fen and Shi Miao race to the medical office. Shi Fen, seeing Shi Miao's injured foot and determination, decides to let her win the vouchers. Consequently, Shi Miao secures the meal vouchers, while Shi Fen loses his bet with Hao Ren and begins tying Hao Ren's shoelaces.
Shi Fen cancels his dinner with You Le, claiming a basketball game, but You Le overhears Zhen Kaixin mentioning a different dinner plan, exposing Shi Fen's lie. Later, Shi Miao takes Wang Keke to the buffet, only to discover the vouchers are merely discounts (15 yuan off per 100 yuan spent), not free meals, making her hard-won victory ultimately disappointing.

Wan Sui, the eldest son of the global "Wan Corporation," feels lonely and yearns for ordinary friends and a normal life away from his overprotective mother. At his insistence, his mother agrees to find him a new school, a task she delegates to his younger son, Wan Xing, a 12-year-old prodigy with an IQ of 160. After a brief investigation of an ordinary middle school, Wan Xing decides it is the perfect place for his brother.
He instructs Wan Sui to hide his wealthy identity to avoid being deceived as he had been in the past and makes him walk to the school to maintain a low profile. On his way, Wan Sui is bullied by Cheng Haonan but is saved by the school nurse. In Grade 2, Class 4, Shi Fen proposes a prank to welcome the new student, Wan Sui.
The plan is for the entire class to ignore him, making him feel like an outcast, before surprising him with a flash mob. The teacher cautiously approves. Meanwhile, in another class, Shi Miao wants to join a weekend party that costs thirty yuan. Wang Keke, who is collecting the money, initially scoffs at her, knowing Shi Miao's financial situation. This only strengthens Shi Miao’s resolve to go. Wan Xing transfers into Shi Miao’s class.
While his classmates are disappointed he isn't a handsome new student, Miao Miaomiao eagerly volunteers to be his deskmate, but he requests to sit alone. When Wan Sui arrives in Shi Fen’s class, the plan goes into effect. He is completely ignored during his introduction and is not even given an exam paper. After the exam, he is knocked to the ground in the rush of students leaving for break.
As Shi Fen approaches, Wan Sui thinks he is finally being noticed, but Shi Fen simply reaches past him to grab a sticker on the wall. Utterly dejected, Wan Sui runs out screaming. Wan Xing, who is monitoring his brother with a drone, happily reports to their mother that Wan Sui is being isolated and will likely want to transfer schools soon.
Shi Fen and Zhen Kaixin are called to the nurse's office and reprimanded for bullying Wan Sui, who is found crying. Wan Sui has misinterpreted the cold shoulder as a school curse that requires a "transparent person" to be chosen each year, and he believes he is the chosen one. When he returns to the classroom to give a speech accepting his fate, he accidentally steps on a female student's foot, causing her to break character.
The entire class abandons Shi Fen's plan and swarms Wan Sui with affection. When Shi Fen returns to find his plan ruined and Wan Sui the center of attention, he becomes furious and declares Wan Sui his enemy. Later, Shi Miao finally gathers the thirty yuan for the party, but Wang Keke insults her, telling her they can’t be friends because she isn’t good enough.
Wang Keke then becomes Wan Xing's new deskmate and tries to take a photo with him, but he refuses. She records a video instead, prompting him to demand a new deskmate again. At the cafeteria, Wan Xing is disgusted by the unsanitary conditions and refuses to eat. Wan Sui is invited to eat by female classmates and, while waiting, mistakenly eats leftover food from a plate on the table.
After realizing his mistake, he rushes out to vomit, which Shi Fen and Zhen Kaixin find hilarious. Long after everyone has left, Wan Xing, though feeling humiliated, finally forces himself to eat.
Episode 4 Recap
A bad incident happened in a regular middle school, someone brought a drone to school and damaged public property. The director of the education bureau saw the broken toilet door and strongly criticized the school. The principal demanded that the culprit surrender to the office before school was over, otherwise, he would be criticized throughout the school and the announcement would be posted at the door for three months.
After class, Miao Miaomiao asked Shi Miao and Wan Xing who the culprit was, and they both showed unusual tension. Under Miao Miaomiao's goading, Wan Xing went to the scene of the crime! She believed he would not have done it, or if he did, it was because he could not lock the bike and feared it would be stolen, convinced that her brother was a warm and kind person. Upon returning home, they discovered the refrigerator empty with all leftovers thrown out.
However, the refrigerator door had been fixed, and Miao Miaomiao's bicycle tire was repaired, leading them not to blame their father. Hungry, Shi Miao pleaded with a tired Shi Fen for food. He went to the kitchen and made jelly from powder to satisfy her hunger, after which Shi Miao took many photos of the food before eating.

Shi Miao wakes from a dream about her cafeteria crush, Zhen Kaixin, to a foul smell. The refrigerator has died because the power is about to run out and the power card is missing, spoiling all the food inside. It is also Shi Fen's birthday, and Shi Miao warns him that if the card isn't found by evening, his birthday will become his death day.
Wanting a birthday present, Shi Fen takes Zhen Kaixin to a mall and points out a watch he loves. Zhen Kaixin buys it, but instead of giving it to Shi Fen, he puts it on his own wrist and tells Shi Fen he can touch it whenever he wants, leaving Shi Fen fuming. Meanwhile, Wan Sui prepares for Shi Fen's party by hiring a magician and buying an expensive jewel.
His suspicious younger brother, Wan Xing, decides to follow him to see what kind of person Shi Fen is. Shi Miao bakes birthday cookies with Miao Miaomiao, but when Miao Miaomiao writes a message on them, Shi Miao licks it off before heading home. Arriving home, Shi Miao is stunned when Zhen Kaixin answers the door. She slams it shut, composes herself, and reopens it to find Wan Sui, thinking she's hallucinating.
Once inside, she sees Zhen Kaixin is there too and rushes to her room to put on makeup. She comes out and acts unusually enthusiastic. Seeing her strange behavior, Shi Fen suspects Wan Sui has ulterior motives with his sister. With nothing else to eat, Zhen Kaixin and Wan Sui are given the cookies Shi Miao brought. During the gift exchange, Wan Sui presents his jewel, which Shi Fen dismisses as a rock from the roadside.
Zhen Kaixin gives Shi Fen a drawing of him, which Shi Miao immediately begs for and hangs above her bed. To find the power card, Shi Fen invents a "treasure hunt" game for his guests. Wan Sui enthusiastically searches and finds the card. As a reward, he asks to visit Shi Fen's house every weekend. Zhen Kaixin is called home by his parents, and Wan Sui's butler arrives to discreetly signal it's time for him to leave as well.

One morning, after her workout, Shi Miao finds her brother Shi Fen is sick. When ill, Shi Fen acts childishly, so she cares for him, making him food and giving him medicine. On the way to school, they find their drunk father passed out on the road.

In class, Shi Fen falls asleep and is scolded by the teacher. Wan Sui explains that he is sick. Wanting to help, Wan Sui fills a thermos with cold water for Shi Fen, not knowing how to boil it. When Shi Fen wakes up thirsty and drinks the water, he gets a stomachache and rushes to the bathroom, where he passes out.
Wan Sui finds him and splashes cold water on his face to wake him up, which earns him a harsh scolding from Shi Fen, leaving Wan Sui hurt. Meanwhile, Shi Miao arrives late to her class just as a director is casting for a school promotional video. Though everyone recommends Wang Keke, the director is impressed by Shi Miao and asks her to audition as well, angering Wang Keke. During P. E.

Meanwhile, Shi Miao diligently studies math, only to be disturbed by her brother Shi Fen loudly playing video games, leading her to beat him up in frustration. The next day, Shi Fen arrives late to school, but he is not alone. To everyone's shock, the school's top student, You Le, is also late.
Swarmed by classmates asking for exam tips, You Le confides in Shi Fen about the immense pressure she feels to always be number one. To help her relax, Shi Fen makes a bet with her: if he can improve his rank by five places in the midterms, she must go to the beach with him. If he fails, he will stay fifty meters away from her at all times.

He brazenly announces his plans to pick her up for their beach date on a peddler's tricycle, embarrassing You Le and causing an uproar in the class, while another student, Wang Keke, cries over her poor performance. Shi Miao remains entirely unconcerned with her results, focused only on voice acting, which worries Miao Miaomiao. Back home, Shi Fen researches fun, free activities for his beach date.
Shi Miao, seeing him, shyly assumes the trip is for her and is disappointed to learn the truth. When Shi Fen mocks her attempts at a male voice for a recording, she attacks him again. Through this experience, Shi Fen has a realization: the cost of doing something with effort is about the same as doing it lazily, and the resulting sense of accomplishment makes the hard work worthwhile. He concludes that people avoid trying not because of laziness, but because they fear that even with effort, they might still fail.

Early in the morning, Shi Fen suddenly asked Shi Miao about the date, but no matter how Shi Miao thought, she couldn't figure out what important day today was. Finally, Shi Fen revealed the answer: today would be the big day when Shi Fen would escape the bottom three! For this most important moment, he wanted to witness it with his best friend You Le. He came to the security room.
The security guard, with a full beard, was holding Wan Sui's phone and copying something. Seeing Shi Fen enter, he quickly put away the phone. To get out of the run, Shi Fen and Wan Sui pretend to be "killed in action," but as a result, their lunch is forfeited. Meanwhile, Wan Xing collapses from heatstroke.
His brother, Wan Sui, learns of this from Shi Miao and gets medicine and a pear from the school medic. In the dorm, he finds another student, He Ermeng, and gives him the pear. Shi Fen takes over but simply warns her not to bully his sister again. Before departing, Instructor Zhao pulls Shi Fen aside and tells him that rules often exist for protection. Shi Miao and Miao Miaomiao also made a celebratory cake for Zhen Kaixin. Meanwhile, Wan Sui was ordered by Shi Fen to transport the basketball team's support supplies. But Zhen Kaixin suddenly appeared before the gym teacher, crying and wailing that he didn't want to play basketball.
Shi Fen and Shi Miao were at home. Shi Miao kept speaking up for Zhen Kaixin, praising how amazing he was. Shi Fen, unconvinced, first belittled Zhen Kaixin for having a fatal flaw—choice paralysis—then bragged that only with his on-the-spot guidance could Zhen Kaixin deliver a god-like performance. At school, Shi Fen climbs a wall to get in and is caught by the PE teacher, Teacher Tian. His head teacher, Teacher Lu, intervenes and takes him back to class. Shi Fen then uses studying as an excuse to avoid basketball practice, an act of evasion obvious to everyone. You Le confronts him, telling him not to make promises he can’t keep.
Meanwhile, Hao Ren tries to persuade Teacher Tian to let him replace Shi Fen on the team, boasting that his looks are superior, but Teacher Tian dismisses him, stating that appearance is part of a player's strength. Wan Xing also approaches Teacher Tian, offering technical support by using sound interference, but she rejects the idea as it violates basketball rules. Meanwhile, Miao Miaomiao invites Shi Miao to a comic convention, but Shi Miao insists they wait until after their final exams. Later, Shi Miao discovers that Miao Miaomiao went to the convention with Wang Keke because it was the last one before the new year.
After Miao Miaomiao apologizes and offers to be her photographer for a cosplay shoot with Zhen Kaixin, Shi Miao forgives her. Determined to help Wan Sui release his emotions, Shi Fen conspires with Zhen Kaixin to make him cry. Fed up with his carelessness, which also led to her getting an eye infection after he touched her phone with his foot, Shi Miao decides to run away. Just as she is about to leave, their father, Shi Zhen, returns home. To get them out of the house, he insists they go visit relatives for the New Year, giving Shi Miao his large coat and sunglasses to hide her bandaged arms.
At their first great-aunt's house, she sees Shi Miao's arms hidden inside the coat and mistakenly believes she has lost them. Shi Fen plays along with the misunderstanding, earning her sympathy and a gift of imported fruit. Realizing the potential, Shi Fen devises a plan and drags Shi Miao to visit other relatives.
They use the same tragic story to trade each gift for a more valuable one, eventually acquiring expensive items like freeze-dried sea cucumbers, despite Shi Miao's protests to stop. To pacify the crying child, they take him to a fair. There, Shi Miao and Da Xiong both become enamored with a large teddy bear plush toy. Unfortunately, it's a prize that can only be won through games.
Shi Fen and Shi Miao play numerous games and accumulate many tickets, but it's still not enough for the bear. In the process, they lose track of Da Xiong, who has wandered off after another child's snack. A stall owner tells them about a sharpshooter who won all the prizes last year. Just then, Wan Sui and his brother Wan Xing arrive.
Shi Fen mistakenly praises Wan Xing as the sharpshooter, which delights Wan Xing, though the real champion was Wan Sui. As a storm suddenly rolls in, vendors begin to pack up. While helping a stall owner pick up fallen peaches, Shi Fen devises a plan. He convinces the owner to host an arm-wrestling game for prize tickets. Shi Fen easily beats several children, but is then challenged by a much larger and stronger father.
Shi Fen cheats by rubbing peach fuzz on his opponent's arm, causing it to itch during the match. The man gets distracted and loses, allowing Shi Fen to win enough tickets for the teddy bear, which he gives to Shi Miao. Afterward, Shi Fen and Shi Miao realize Da Xiong is missing. At the same time, Wan Xing notices his brother Wan Sui has also disappeared. While lost, Wan Sui encounters Miao Miaomiao in costume and faints.
He dreams that Miao Miaomiao tells him his life is a reality show for his grandfather to watch and that his brother Wan Xing will always be by his side. He wakes up to find his friends, tells Shi Fen he will be happy from now on, and tearfully hugs Wan Xing. Shi Fen and Shi Miao return home to face Da Xiong's mother.

At dawn, Shi Fen receives a call from his mother informing him that his grandfather has passed away. With no return bus until evening, they must walk. After getting lost, Shi Fen gets the idea to follow the direction of floating paper money. They finally find the village after Shi Miao recognizes a lightning-struck tree near her grandparents’ house.
At the funeral, they hesitate to enter, afraid to see their grandfather's body. They recall happy memories and tearfully realize that since everyone eventually dies, they should cherish this last chance to say goodbye. Just as they decide to go in, their mother appears and welcomes them. Inside, their uncle scolds them for being late. They are happy to see their grandmother, but she is confused.
She claims they are not biological siblings, saying Shi Miao is the adopted illegitimate daughter of a widow and a carpenter, and asks when they will marry. To humor her, Shi Miao plays along. The grandmother gives them pastries she says their grandfather made. They eat them tearfully, only for their uncle to yell at them for eating the funeral offerings. Furious about their tardiness and their actions, the uncle throws them out. Shi Miao is upset she was kicked out without even seeing her grandfather. Shi Fen comforts her, suggesting it is for the best, as their grandfather passed away happy, and their grandmother is now spared the pain of his loss due to her illness. Elsewhere, Wan Sui speaks with his mother via video call, demanding that his brother be allowed to return.
His mother forces him to choose between his brother’s return and staying at his ordinary high school. Wan Sui refuses to choose, wanting his family back together in person, and angrily throws down the tablet. Later at school, his classmate Cheng Haonan alerts him to a message written in the sky by an airplane: "Wan Sui, I am fine." The plane continues to write more messages, leaving Wan Sui overjoyed. When Wan Sui and Wan Xing return home, they are surprised to find their mother waiting for them in person.

Early in the morning, Shi Fen frantically calls Miao Miaomiao, looking for his sister, Shi Miao. Shi Miao was supposed to give a speech, but she was publicly humiliated to learn her award was for being an "Outstanding Impoverished Student." A teacher insisted she accept it, and feeling mocked by the audience, Shi Miao faked a faint to escape the stage. The school doctor later confirms that Shi Miao confessed to faking her faint and was deeply hurt by the "impoverished" label.
In his search, Shi Fen video calls his wealthy friend Wan Sui, who lies about working at a KTV to hide his mansion. Feeling defeated, Shi Fen is approached by Wang Keke, who insists he is the only one who can save Shi Miao, as life is boring without a rival. However, his friends are now middle-aged men who bungle the plan, capturing and terrifying three other students by mistake. Meanwhile, Shi Miao follows Cheng Haonan, bullying younger children, but runs away when she spots her mother in a passing car. Later, Cheng Haonan takes her to a tattoo parlor for the final initiation rite. Shi Fen and Shi Zhen see them go inside. Terrified of needles, Shi Miao refuses the tattoo and screams for help.
Shi Zhen bursts in but is quickly intimidated and leaves, much to Shi Miao's disappointment. However, he returns with two spray cans from his car and starts a spray-fight with the gang. In the chaos, he cuts the power, grabs Shi Miao's hand in the dark, and they escape. Shi Zhen speeds off with Shi Miao, completely forgetting Shi Fen. He stops on the road to buy a snack she loved as a child.
As she eats, Shi Miao breaks down, crying and apologizing to her father. She admits she is tired of being a bad kid and collapses into his arms. Sometime later, Director Yuan is seen fixing the electricity at Fang Jie's place; he is her father. Fang Jie goes to have her tattoo removed, wanting to return to school and start over. Shi Fen appears and tattoos the words "Start Anew" on her back.
Episode 29 Recap
When Shi Miao discovers Shi Fen has eaten her chocolate, she doesn't get angry, puzzling him. She has already asked their mother to take Shi Fen away. In a flashback, a rebellious Shi Miao confronts her mother, crying about her difficult childhood and blaming her brother. She pleads with her mother to take Shi Fen so she can have a better life, and her mother agrees.
Meanwhile, Shi Fen sits with Zhen Kaixin and Wan Sui, lamenting his broken model ships. He recalls how he earned each one, but then remembers that Shi Miao got him the last model by standing in the cold with her piggy bank until the shop owner relented.

After Shi Fen is in a car accident and hospitalized in critical condition, Wan Sui sees the news on TV and bursts into tears. The next morning, Shi Miao wakes up and habitually calls for Shi Fen to make breakfast, only to remember he has left.
Seeing two missed calls from him, she hesitantly calls Wan Xing for information, but he hangs up on her harshly, believing it's better for her to live with anger than guilt if Shi Fen dies. Alone, Shi Miao tries to cook, but she is haunted by visions of Shi Fen guiding her and ends up burning the food. Every face she sees on television morphs into her brother's. Distressed by these hallucinations, she goes to a psychologist's office.
Wan Xing, wanting to keep the accident a secret, has sent Miao Miaomiao to follow her. When Shi Miao spots her, Miao Miaomiao pretends she is also there for an appointment. In the waiting room, they find a helmet which Miao Miaomiao claims can erase memories. Shi Miao, desperate to stop missing her brother, decides to use it to erase him from her mind. However, as she relives her memories, the bad ones give way to good ones.
Realizing that deleting these memories would erase any trace of her ever being loved, she breaks down in tears and removes the helmet. A struggle ensues when Miao Miaomiao insists she go through with it, but a staff member reveals the device is just a massage helmet for preventing hair loss. Outside, Miao Miaomiao decides to tell the truth, but Zhen Kaixin rushes out to stop her.
They argue, and Miao Miaomiao finally blurts out that Shi Fen is in the hospital after a car accident. Shi Miao’s legs buckle before she runs off, repeating that she was wrong.
