Dugu Xiashu asked Cao Hui about her daughter-in-law's absence. Cao Hui revealed that her daughter-in-law was dissatisfied because her husband was a coroner and often went out. Su Wuming expressed understanding, lamenting that although the position of coroner is humble, the responsibility is significant, yet they are often misunderstood by the world. These words surprised Cao Hui, who realized that Su Wuming was no ordinary person and might have a connection with coroners.

She then sought help from Su Wuming, revealing that Chun Tiao was involved in Dugu Yang's death, and mentioning that Chun Tiao's brother, Chun Shan, had told Chun Tiao she had a lover outside. Cao Hui calmly questioned Chun Shan's intention, revealing her wariness regarding the complexity of the matter. After deep thought, Cao Hui believed that Chun Shan's visit that day might not have been accidental.

He might have wanted to extort a sum of money through Dong Hao Gu, and when unsuccessful, he angrily leaked Chun Tiao's secret. Whether this was true or false was hard to discern. Just then, strange noises outside the house startled everyone. Cao Hui suspected a thief. Su Wuming wanted to go out to investigate but was advised against it by Dugu Xiashu. He went himself and indeed found Chun Shan attempting a theft.

With Cao Hui's assistance, Chun Shan was subdued and knocked unconscious. Chun Shan, upon waking, initially denied the crime when facing the authority in court. He showed joy upon hearing he would be released. However, Su Wuming suddenly revealed dice, and Chun Shan's expression changed drastically. He initially resisted but immediately collapsed and confessed when threatened with severe torture. It turned out that he had lost everything at the gambling den that day.

While he was feeling depressed, Boss Dong approached him and offered him 30,000 cash to complete a task. For Chun Shan, who was deeply in debt, this was undoubtedly a huge temptation. Boss Dong claimed to possess a treasure but knew well that the treasure would not be kept at home, so he devised a plan.

He used the opportunity of the county magistrate inviting Dugu Yang for a drink to dispatch Chun Shan to sneak into Dugu Yang's house to search for the treasure. However, Chun Shan encountered a terrifying scene in Dugu Yang's room and fled in panic. Su Wuming was suspicious of Chun Shan's confession and ordered him detained. Dugu Xiashu learned that Chun Tiao had an affair with Boss Dong and was furious, immediately ordering their arrest.

At this moment, Niu Shiwei sneaked in, intending to kill Chun Tiao. Cao Hui, unfortunately, was knocked out and tragically murdered while protecting Chun Tiao. Su Wuming arrived in time and engaged in a fierce fight with Niu Shiwei. Fortunately, Ying Tao stepped in to help, but Su Wuming intentionally provoked Ying Tao, making her leave angrily. Although Dugu Yang was a kind person, he was unfortunately murdered because his wife was beautiful and coveted by wicked people.

Boss Dong arrived at the yamen, feeling inwardly wary. Although Cao Hui was frightened, the doctor diagnosed her with no serious injuries, which brought Chun Tiao some peace of mind. However, Chun Tiao's suspicion of Boss Dong grew. She tested him and discovered that Boss Dong's real motive for approaching her was to obtain Dugu Yang's private seal. Chun Tiao felt deep guilt, realizing she had failed her husband's trust.

Niu Shiwei confessed his feelings to Chun Tiao and proposed to marry her, but Chun Tiao angrily called him shameless and slapped him. Chun Tiao confessed to Su Wuming that she had never seen the multi-sided seal that Dugu Yang had in his possession. She recalled that Dugu Yang had tried to make her stay and revealed her difficulty in having children for certain reasons. Dugu Yang became unusually agitated after hearing this.

Meanwhile, Boss Dong felt an unusual atmosphere within the yamen and began to realize that things might not be as simple as they seemed. Chun Tiao was full of remorse. Her impulsive words were originally just spoken in anger, hoping to attract her husband's attention. In reality, she had remained chaste for her husband all along and inwardly longed to bear a child for Dugu Yang.

Facing Boss Dong's defense, she listened quietly outside the court, her heart filled with mixed emotions. Boss Dong insisted in court that he had not killed anyone. He recalled that night, feeling slightly tipsy from drinking, he went to Dugu's house, indeed with the purpose of obtaining the legendary seal. He admitted that he had agreed on a transaction time with Dugu Yang, which was Hai Shi San Ke.

However, when he arrived on time, he was met with Dugu Yang drawing his sword against him, and the atmosphere instantly became tense. Boss Dong explained that he suggested completing the transaction that day to appease Dugu Yang's anger. But when he stepped inside the room, he was horrified to discover that Dugu Yang was already dead. In panic, he chose to flee the scene without reporting it, fearing he would be unfairly implicated in the murder case.

Hearing this, Chun Tiao became even more certain that her husband's death was intricately linked to this complex transaction. She secretly resolved to investigate the truth, seek justice for Dugu Yang, and at the same time, prove her innocence and loyalty.
