Following his discovery of a feverish Jiang Sihan, Cheng Mu stays by her side to care for her. As she stirs, caught in a fever dream, she reaches out to touch his face, and the realness of the sensation startles her into full consciousness. Relieved to find him there but also that her apartment lease hasn't expired, she declares that her own humble home is best.

While she slept, Cheng Mu not only cleaned her messy room but also researched tips on how to win back an angry woman, learning that sweet words and consistent care are key. Before leaving for work, he leaves a note reminding her to eat and take her vitamins, having also replaced her expired medicine. Once recovered, Jiang Sihan's curiosity leads her to Sweet Patisserie, the competitor that supposedly stole Cheng Mu's ideas.

She is stunned to see mushroom-shaped desserts from Cheng Mu's notebook in their display case. To her greater surprise, the regional manager for the Sweet brand is Han Muzhou, her former class president and old crush. At the same time, Han Muzhou’s sister, Han Xianglan, newly returned from abroad, arrives at the shop. Finding the decor questionable, she focuses instead on her hobby: taking photos of handsome men to share with her friends.

Reuniting with Han Muzhou brings Jiang Sihan immense joy. As they chat, she learns he is no longer in contact with his past admirer, Li Mo. Han Muzhou confesses he had postponed dating until his career was established, which it now is, and reveals he specifically requested the transfer back to the country, implying he returned for her. Meanwhile, Cheng Mu’s colleagues at Sol spot Jiang Sihan at the rival shop, solidifying their belief that she is the leak.

Enraged, Cheng Mu storms out towards Sweet Patisserie. On the way, he accidentally bumps into Han Xianglan. Initially annoyed, her anger melts when she sees his handsome face. She playfully accuses him of a hit-and-run and asks for his contact information. In a rush, Cheng Mu gives her the address of his shop, Sol, and quickly leaves. When Cheng Mu arrives at Sweet, a flustered Jiang Sihan tries to explain she just happened to run into her class president.

Ignoring her, Cheng Mu confronts Han Muzhou about "copying and pasting" their dessert designs. Han Muzhou sarcastically asks if Cheng Mu is in a hurry to get back and cook for Rui Rui. To assert himself, Cheng Mu declares that Rui Rui is his son. Han Xianglan, who followed Cheng Mu, observes to her brother that the two don't seem married, which fuels her "shipping" enthusiasm.

Cheng Mu then turns his anger on Jiang Sihan, accusing her of leaking the recipe through a "side account." Deeply hurt that he would suspect her after she had rushed to bring him his notebook, Jiang Sihan vehemently denies the accusation and tells him she has no intention of forgiving him. Later, Cheng Mu coaxes Jiang Sihan into visiting by telling her Rui Rui isn't feeling well.

Though she doesn't intend to stay, Rui Rui's emotional plea and his refusal to live anywhere but with his godfather eventually convince her to move back in, restoring the house's cheerful atmosphere. Seeking to mend their relationship, Cheng Mu gets advice from his sister to be direct about his feelings and from an online acquaintance to "use his heart" by doing something meaningful together.

Heeding this, he and Jiang Sihan begin making desserts together for Rui Rui, who happily sends photos of their life to his mother. During a video call, Rui Rui’s father sees Cheng Mu’s happy demeanor in the photos and correctly guesses he has found someone special, encouraging him to pursue her.

However, he then gives Cheng Mu a cruel task: to ask Rui Rui whether he would rather live with him or his mother, a choice Cheng Mu feels is too painful to force upon a child. That night, Cheng Mu is plagued by a nightmare of his parents arguing and his father calling him a burden. He wakes in a cold sweat to find the room completely dark. Panicked, he fumbles for the night light.

Jiang Sihan, who had turned it off earlier, comes in to check on him. He explains that he always sleeps with the lights on, revealing a deep-seated fear of the dark. Realizing she unwittingly triggered his trauma, she apologizes.
