Wu Suowei also found out that the person who reported his company was a man named Wang Zhenlong. He recalled that back when Yue Yue betrayed him, the man she was with was also Wang Zhenlong. What Wu Suowei didn’t expect was that after all this time, having had no dealings with Wang Zhenlong, the man would still step forward to frame him. Wu Suowei went to see Wang Zhenlong and brought him gifts.

But Wang Zhenlong was determined not to let Chi Cheng off the hook — years ago, Wang Zhenlong had been in a car accident that left him with a limp, and he had always resented Chi Cheng, waiting for a chance to get revenge. In order to rescue Chi Cheng, Wu Suowei even knelt before Wang Zhenlong, but it was useless.

Wu Suowei then went to Chi Cheng’s home to beg Chi Cheng’s father for help, but his father firmly refused. Since the company’s situation hadn’t been clarified, Wu Suowei’s company was sealed, leaving him with no source of income, so he had to sell sugar figurines by the roadside. When Wang Shuo heard that Chi Cheng had been arrested, he wanted to take his brother, Wang Zhen, to mock them.

At first, Wang Zhen didn’t plan to kick someone when they were down, but when Wang Shuo said he was going to cause trouble for Wu Suowei, Wang Zhen agreed to go along. Wang Shuo found Wu Suowei, saw him running a street stall, and felt pleased with himself, planning to insult him. But Wu Suowei struck at Wang Shuo’s weakness, telling him he wasn’t his parents’ biological son.

Hearing this, Wang Zhen quickly stepped in to smooth things over, not wanting Wang Shuo to dwell on it. That night, while Wu Suowei was still running his stall, he suddenly saw someone from the company who had helped Wang Zhenlong falsify accounts. Wu Suowei caught the man, beat him up, and brought him to Jiang Xiaoshuai’s hospital, where Jiang Xiaoshuai helped treat his wounds.

Wu Suowei then learned that the reason the man had helped Wang Zhenlong was because his grandmother was ill and needed a large sum for treatment. But once the goal was achieved, Wang Zhenlong didn’t pay the remaining balance. At first, Chi Cheng didn’t mean to blame him and even wanted to discuss having him testify to secure Chi Cheng’s release, but the man still demanded money because he had no way to pay for his grandmother’s treatment.

Now that Wu Suowei’s company had been shut down, he had no money to give. To help him, Jiang Xiaoshuai offered to lend him his savings, but Wu Suowei declined and instead put his old family home up for sale to raise money. Just a few days after listing it, a buyer showed interest, but the buyer treated the items in the house with great disrespect and pressed the price down.

Since Chi Cheng urgently needed the money, Wu Suowei had no choice but to accept, selling the house at a much lower price. He packed up his belongings and prepared to leave, feeling a wave of sadness as he looked around the old home, especially recalling the beautiful times spent with his family. His heart felt empty. The detention center finally allowed Wu Suowei to meet Chi Cheng.

Although he had been longing to see him, when the chance finally came, Wu Suowei didn’t feel happy and didn’t know how it would be to face him. On the day of the meeting, Chi Cheng instead put on a calm expression, showing no sadness at all, not wanting Wu Suowei to be upset. Though Wu Suowei was deeply saddened inside, he also didn’t show it, pretending to be very happy.

Both tried to comfort each other, avoiding sad topics, not wanting to burden the other. But when Chi Cheng heard that Wu Suowei had sold his old family home, he was shocked. Chi Cheng knew how important that house was to the family and scolded Wu Suowei, saying he should have sold his own house instead. Wu Suowei didn’t want Chi Cheng’s family to look down on him, so he had endured the pain of selling it.
