However, just as he reached the doorway, Chi Cheng remembered what Wu Suowei’s mother had said, worrying that the road ahead for the two of them would be very difficult. Not wanting Wu Suowei to have an unhappy future, Chi Cheng couldn’t muster the courage to go in and turned to leave.
Wang Shuo and his older brother also arrived, and Wang Shuo’s brother comforted Chi Cheng. Wu Suowei brought his mother’s photo back home, and the house was filled with memories of her everywhere. Seeing how miserable Wu Suowei looked, even talking about wanting to die, Jiang Xiaoshuai became furious and went to confront Chi Cheng to stick up for Wu Suowei. As they had planned beforehand, Chi Cheng deliberately acted intimidating to scare Jiang Xiaoshuai away. When Jiang Xiaoshuai later brought Chi Cheng back home, Wu Suowei sat on the sofa crying as if deeply hurt.
Wu Suowei and Chi Cheng put on an act in front of Jiang Xiaoshuai, claiming that Chi Cheng had hit him. Seeing Chi Cheng “lay hands” on Wu Suowei, Jiang Xiaoshuai became even angrier and wanted to teach Chi Cheng a lesson, but Wu Suowei stopped him. Thanks to Chi Cheng and Wu Suowei’s teamwork, Jiang Xiaoshuai fell for the trick and even took the initiative to go see Guo Chengyu.
Just as Chi Cheng and Wu Suowei were celebrating their success, Jiang Xiaoshuai suddenly returned and discovered their scheme. Realizing their plan had been exposed, Chi Cheng quickly devised a new one. He began to work on Guo Chengyu’s side, having Wu Suowei call Guo Chengyu while still pretending to be heartbroken. However, Wu Suowei had barely spoken a few words before Guo Chengyu abruptly hung up.
