As Duan Xu’s health continues to decline, he reflects on his changing fears. He once dreaded becoming just another grave in He Simu’s long life, but now he only fears that her memories of him will cause her eternal pain. He Simu, however, refuses to let their bond fade into silence. She recounts every detail she remembers—the scent of wine, the warmth of the sun, and the sound of his laughter.

To ensure they are bound together, she proposes that they marry, and Duan Xu softly agrees. They return to the Void (Gui Xu) for a grand wedding witnessed by all. Before the ceremony, Duan Xu had coerced Fengyi into fulfilling a final request: the total transfer of his five senses to He Simu. As they stand together in their wedding finery, the transfer is complete.

For the first time, He Simu experiences the world in vibrant color, seeing the man she loves clearly. During the ritual, she vows to love Duan Shunxi for the rest of her life, promising never to forget him. The exchange of his senses leaves Duan Xu’s body incredibly frail, and he finds the biting cold of the Void unbearable. He Simu asks Jiang Ai to send them back to the mortal world one last time.

Perched on a mountain peak, they sit together to watch the sunrise. With her newly acquired senses, He Simu finally experiences the world as a mortal does—feeling the warmth of the sun, hearing the distant songs of woodcutters, and breathing in the fragrant scent of mortal life. Using the "Cloud Wine" Jiang Ai prepared for them, they perform the traditional "cross-cup" ceremony.

Duan Xu asks if she regrets their meeting given the sorrow it has brought, but he confesses that she was the only luck in his difficult life and that he would choose to find her a thousand times over. He Simu reassures him that no matter the heartache, she would always choose to reach out and pull him up on that fateful New Year's Eve. As the day wanes, Duan Xu’s strength fails and he begins to cough up blood.

He thanks He Simu for being by his side, calling himself a "gambler" who never lost a single bet because of her. He urges her to remember the beauty of the world and tells her that this world will always be her home. As he passes away in her arms, He Simu desperately tries to use her spirit power to anchor his soul, but she cannot change his destiny.

In his final moments of consciousness, Duan Xu feels a profound regret for leaving her in pain and vows to find his way back to her. Following Duan Xu’s passing, He Simu returns to the Void to settle the future of her people. She formally announces her abdication, declaring that she will no longer be the Sovereign of Spirits. She names Chenying as her successor, as he has already absorbed the spirit aura of the Spirit Lantern.

Although some hall masters question the young man’s lack of seniority, Jiang Ai is the first to bow in respect, prompting the others to recognize the new Sovereign. As He Simu prepares to depart, Chenying senses a familiar spirit aura lingering around her that feels like Duan Xu. Jiang Ai notes that while it is theoretically impossible for a departed soul to remain, Duan Xu was always a man who defied expectations.

He Simu leaves the Void behind, choosing to live as an ordinary person in the mortal world, followed by the lingering spirit aura of the man she loves. In a bustling town, Fengyi and Ziji watch He Simu from a roadside stall. Fengyi observes that He Simu is finally free to be herself and predicts that, if fate permits, she may yet be reunited with her lost love.

He Simu walks through the lively streets dressed in red, carrying the memory of her husband in her heart. Sensing the warm spirit aura following closely at her side, she smiles and softly tells Duan Xu not to get lost as they continue their journey together.
