> Resumos de Love Beyond the Grave
In the Void, He Simu and the Prophet discuss her penchant for collecting stories from the human realm. The Prophet finds her interest in the transient, often bitter lives of mortals puzzling, and he pointedly asks if she truly desires to become human. Their conversation is interrupted when the Prophet reports that three layers of unknown seals have appeared in the Void Valley.
Although he suspects she may have imprisoned Bai Sanxing there, He Simu clarifies that the valley only contains belongings of the former Spirit Sovereign as a memorial. She offers to let him enter to verify, and the Prophet, acknowledging his role in overseeing the Void's affairs, apologizes for his suspicion. Elsewhere, Duan Xu arrives at the Yuzao Pleasure House, loudly declaring that he has booked the entire establishment for the evening to see He Simu.
When he discovers she is not there, he challenges Yan Ke, who is also present. The two engage in a fierce fight, while He Simu, concealed by her powers, watches from the shadows. Despite Duan Xu’s spirit-powered combat, the two are evenly matched, and after a tense confrontation, Yan Ke departs. Back at the Duan estate, Duan Chengzhang is furious upon hearing of his son’s reckless behavior and brawling over a courtesan.
He imposes harsh family punishments on Duan Xu, which his sister witnesses with heartache. Meanwhile, Duan Xu meets with Wang Suyi. He is direct, acknowledging that while their families expect a union, his heart belongs to another, yet he asks for her hand in marriage regardless. Duan Xu later intercepts Fang Xianye, appearing to abduct him. In truth, the two are close allies and dear friends who have been orchestrating a public feud to better root out corrupt officials.
Duan Xu brings Fang Xianye to meet He Simu, introducing them to one another. He surprises He Simu by asking her to attend his wedding. Though He Simu understands that a mortal like Duan Xu must lead his own life and that their paths are inherently divided, the request leaves her visibly shaken. Later, He Simu consults Fengyi about a suitable wedding gift, leaving him stunned that she would invest so much thought into a mortal.
While shopping for incense, He Simu encounters Duan Xu's sister. They do not recognize one another, but the sister asks about the unique fragrance He Simu is blending. He Simu names the scent "Duan Xu," which deeply intrigues the sister. After learning from her brother that He Simu lacks a sense of smell and wouldn't notice if an ingredient were missing, the sister realizes the irony, while Duan Xu finds He Simu’s oblivious nature endearing.
Duan Xu visits the Yuzao Pleasure House to convene with Fang Xianye and Wang Jin. As the top three scholars of their imperial exam year, the trio works in secret to ensure the stability of Great Liang. Following an imperial court session, Duan Xu recalls the Prophet’s instructions regarding a returned umbrella and heads to the Lotusborn Pavilion.
The Prophet reveals their personal history: He Simu’s original family consisted only of her parents and her aunt and uncle, and he is the twentieth-generation descendant of those relatives—explaining why he calls her his "Great Ancestor." He recounts how she once raised him after his parents died. The Prophet then shares a gift of intelligence regarding Consort Yu’s obsession with peonies, a detail vital to the shifting political tides of the court.
He explains that he helps Duan Xu not for his sake, but because he discovered an old journal that revealed the girl He Simu once was—vibrant, arrogant, and human—before her time stopped at the moment of her father's death. He urges Duan Xu, as her spell-bearer, to finally help her frozen heart begin to move again. Before leaving, Duan Xu asks the Prophet for a blessed flower to use in his ongoing exchange of senses with He Simu.
