The authorities move to arrest Director Xia Shang, presenting her with a warrant as her son looks on. Admitting to being an accomplice, her son hopes for a lighter sentence due to his cooperation, while the truth behind her decade-long criminal empire in Mugang and the Qiuxiao Manor murders finally comes to light following the confession of key witness Chen Qicheng.
Meanwhile, Wu Nongyu discovers that Xie Xinxu’s blood contains the missing component needed for the cure, explaining why her mother, Lin Yu, woke up after his earlier transfusion. Lin Yu notes that the substance causes the human voice to become temporary sharp and high-pitched when inhaled. This triggers a memory for Xie Xinxu of a game he played as a child in Xiaoshan Village with gas found near satellite wreckage.
He rushes back to the village, but the chief informs him that the gas is gone, leaving only an empty bottle. Knowing that Lin Juan and the others are in critical condition, Xie Xinxu asks Lin Yu if extracting the component from his own blood would save them. Lin Yu warns him that because the substance has fused with his blood, total extraction would leave him in a permanent coma.
Xie Xinxu hides his intent from Wu Nongyu at first, but later suggests using his blood to her. Terrified of losing him, she vehemently refuses, insisting they have time to keep searching. To comfort her, Xie Xinxu suggests they stop focusing on the tragedy and instead focus on each other. Wu Nongyu agrees, and the two reconcile, enjoying a brief, blissful period of domestic life together. However, Xie Xinxu eventually makes a final decision.
One morning, he tells Wu Nongyu that he must go on a very long "business trip." He explains that while she would eventually find the component elsewhere, Lin Juan and the others cannot wait. He poignantly adds that if he is the one lying in a coma, her love for him will drive her to find the source much faster than she would for anyone else.
Following Xie Xinxu’s sacrifice, Lin Yu and Wu Nongyu successfully develop a special drug using the component from his blood. The virus is eradicated, and society returns to normal. Life moves on for their friends as well; Lin Juan is scouted by a talent agency and becomes a trainee. Wu Nongyu encourages him, joking that his clean lifestyle makes him "scandal-proof" and wishing him a successful debut.
She also finds peace after seeing a photo on an online forum showing that Xie Xinxu’s "dragon baby" pet is thriving in the wild. Wu Nongyu documents their entire journey and publishes it as a message to extraterrestrial civilizations. In the year 2051 on Earth, scientists decode the message from Planet Y and realize the mysterious missing component is actually helium. Moved by the story, they arrange for an interplanetary delivery to send the substance back to her.
Later, while Wu Nongyu is wandering the streets, she receives a phone call telling her to turn around. She looks back to see Xie Xinxu standing across the way, smiling at her. She runs into his arms, and the two are finally reunited.
