Lin Juan knocks on the door, interrupting a tense moment after Wu Nongyu wakes up sensing an intruder. Although Lin Juan spots Xie Xinxu hiding behind a screen, he pretends not to see him to keep Wu Nongyu calm. He offers her a massage to help her relax, but she politely declines. Once she drifts back to sleep, Xie Xinxu emerges from his hiding spot.
He watches her sleep, and when she calls out for her brother, Siyuan, in her dreams, he is overcome with guilt and gently kisses her hand before slipping away. At the Special Administration Bureau, Director Xia is furious during a meal. She realizes that the fragments Wu Siyuan previously delivered must have been fakes, as Wu Nongyu is still searching for a third one.
Enraged by the deception, she orders Chief Zhang to mobilize all field agents to find Wu Nongyu and Xie Xinxu within two days. Lu Ziye, who is bound to the Director’s daughter, Xia Yuyan, offers his help but is mocked by Yuyan for his perceived incompetence. Director Xia dismisses him, reminding him that his only duty is to keep Yuyan happy. With all three fragments finally collected, the group needs a secure location to develop the cure.
Xie Xinxu suggests Mr. Ding’s secluded suburban home, which features a private laboratory. Wu Nongyu agrees, but her trust is shaken when she discovers blood-exchange equipment in Xie Xinxu’s bag while looking for a tissue. She begins to wonder why he is still carrying a device meant for virus transfer. After arriving at Mr. Ding’s residence, Xie Xinxu excuses himself to return a call to Lu Ziye, revealing that Lu has been his secret informant.
Lu provided the accurate locations for the fragments, including the one in Xiaoshan Village, while providing misleading information to the Bureau. Lu is desperate for the medicine to be completed so he can finally escape the miserable life he leads serving the "disgusting" Xia family. Back in the lab, Wu Nongyu decides to test her suspicions. She claims the virus is acting up due to overwork and asks Lin Juan for her usual suppressant.
Later that night, she catches Xie Xinxu in her room attempting a secret blood exchange. The truth is finally revealed: for two years, Xie Xinxu has been sacrificing his own health to filter the virus from her system. He admits the injections she received were merely nutrients mixed with sedatives to ensure she slept through his visits. Wu Nongyu confronts Xie Xinxu about his secrecy.
He confesses that he was afraid she would look at him with disgust or be reminded of painful memories if they met face-to-face. Realizing the depth of his humble devotion, Wu Nongyu tells him that an unequal love—whether too domineering or too humble—creates unnecessary pressure. She urges him to stop suppressing his feelings and to love her more openly. Moved by her words, Xie Xinxu pulls her into a tight, emotional embrace and leans in to kiss her.
