After Wu Nongyu left, Li Xiang quietly exited the room, her composure hiding any visible distress. Meanwhile, Wu Nongyu, reeling from the recent events, messaged Chen Yiyi, expressing her low spirits and asking if she wanted to meet for milk tea at Huayuehui. Chen Yiyi, however, was out of town for research, regretting she couldn't join. At the same time, Wu Siyuan received a takeout delivery.
Before he could eat, a news alert flashed on his phone: a sudden fire had broken out at Huayuehui Commercial Street, with emergency rescue operations underway. Alarmed, he immediately tried calling Li Xiang, but his calls went unanswered. He abruptly left to search for her, even asking a shop owner if Li Xiang had been there, only to be told she hadn't. Unaware of Nongyu's safety, Xie Xinxu found himself unable to reach her.
He called Chen Yiyi, who informed him that Nongyu had mentioned going to Huayuehui about ten minutes before the fire. Realizing Nongyu might be in danger, Xie Xinxu rushed to the scene. Amidst the chaos, he narrowly saved Wu Siyuan from an explosion. Instead of gratitude, Wu Siyuan sarcastically remarked that Xie Xinxu, like a trained dog, would always protect his master.
Xie Xinxu retaliated by pinning Wu Siyuan against a doorframe, countering that only Nongyu had ever truly tamed him. Wu Siyuan then warned Xie Xinxu that Nongyu now knew his true intention was to get revenge on him, insinuating that she would never trust him. He even provocatively suggested Xie Xinxu beg him to put in a good word.
Xie Xinxu dismissed this, confident in his relationship with Nongyu, arguing that if even someone as cold as Wu Siyuan could develop feelings for a Ren, Nongyu’s feelings for him were undoubtedly genuine. Later, Wu Nongyu found Li Xiang sitting alone on a bench, having been unable to charge her phone or get her milk tea.
Nongyu approached, initially wanting to offer comfort, but Li Xiang cut her off, accusing her of not needing to feign concern, especially since it wasn't her brother's money being spent. Li Xiang revealed that Wu Siyuan had admitted their relationship to her, concluding that he was a terrible boyfriend for hiding it so long. She then lashed out at Nongyu, calling her a terrible sister for wanting to marry someone her brother despised without his consent, effectively driving him crazy.
Li Xiang suggested that anyone who loved either of them, such "awful siblings," must have it incredibly hard and advised Nongyu to reconsider her choices. Nongyu retorted that Li Xiang should be the one thinking clearly, asserting that Xie Xinxu was merely using her and that if she couldn't see it, she might even endanger her brother. Nongyu then wondered aloud if there was anything harder to keep fair in this world than her current predicament.
Xie Xinxu, having been informed by Chen Yiyi that Nongyu was safely home, rushed back. He found Nongyu tending to his injuries, questioning why she hadn't answered his calls or messages, asking if she was trying to push him away. He then directly asked if she believed Wu Siyuan's accusation that he was using her.
Nongyu confirmed her confusion, stating that she suddenly felt like she didn't know her brother anymore, and similarly, Xie Xinxu felt like a stranger to her too, leaving her no choice but to doubt his initial intentions.
Xie Xinxu admitted his desire for revenge against Wu Siyuan, but when Nongyu urged him not to, he pressed her, asking if it was because her brother, despite his flaws and past mistakes rooted in his family background, was still her "perfect brother in every way." He reflected on the irony: he had countless ways to exact revenge, but by a twist of fate, the girl he fell for at first sight turned out to be Wu Siyuan's sister.
He confessed that he was so madly in love with her that he'd lost his mind, explaining how he had rushed into the burning mall like a madman, performing a good deed he’d never imagined, only to save his enemy, all because she hadn't answered his calls and Chen Yiyi had mentioned her location.
Xie Xinxu then offered Nongyu a choice: he could forget his hatred for Wu Siyuan, but only if she compensated him with an abundance of love to overshadow his deep-seated resentment. When Nongyu hesitated, Xie Xinxu playfully threatened to keep her locked up. Nongyu then embraced him tightly, promising to love and protect him unconditionally. She expressed gratitude for his concession, seeing it as an opportunity for her brother to reform.
She vowed to persuade Wu Siyuan to turn himself in and confess his past wrongdoings, allowing him to atone for his actions. Meanwhile, Li Xiang returned to her room, where Wu Siyuan had placed takeout, specifically her favorite cakes, for her. Wu Siyuan entered, looking disheveled from the fire. Li Xiang rushed to embrace him, confirming she understood that his earlier harsh words were merely a facade to protect Nongyu from further emotional harm.
She tearfully declared her unwavering love for him, saying she was certain of her feelings and desired a place by his side, even if only for a moment. Wu Siyuan, acknowledging that loving him would be difficult, asked if she was truly sure. Li Xiang confidently replied that she had been certain for the past hour, a realization that had come to her after her confrontation with Nongyu.
She wanted to know what he meant, and they shared a passionate kiss, cementing their reconciliation. Back at home, Wu Nongyu was sorting through study materials, intending to give them to Chen Yiyi for her thesis. Xie Xinxu, seeing her pack, mistakenly thought she was leaving and rushed to stop her. Nongyu quickly clarified her actions.
As she applied medicine to his injuries, Xie Xinxu relaxed, commenting on how hard it was to believe she and Wu Siyuan were siblings, as they were so different. He teasingly reminded her that he had gotten those injuries looking for her, so she was responsible. He asked her to massage the wound. Then, in a spontaneous moment, Nongyu hugged him and suggested they form a pact that very night.
