Wu Nongyu wakes from a recurring dream in a snowy landscape to the faint whisper of a man thanking her for returning. Although she forgets the specifics of her dreams upon waking, the lingering emotions feel deeply ingrained in her. She views these nightly visions as a continuing sitcom, imagining herself crossing into parallel universes to experience different lives. In reality, Nongyu is spending a gap year in her hometown, helping her brother, Siyuan, manage a homestay.
She hides the fact that she was actually laid off, finding the quiet rural life a necessary healing process. One day, her friend Chen Yiyi joins her to gather firewood. Nongyu mentions a mysterious guest who booked a room for an entire month but has remained unreachable.
Looking at the guest's photo, Yiyi is struck by his handsome features and jokingly encourages the perpetually single Nongyu to make a move, describing the warmth of a winter embrace as an essential life experience. After Yiyi leaves, Nongyu discovers a man lying unconscious in the snow. With the mountain roads blocked and no ambulance able to reach them, she brings him back to the homestay. The man is Xie Xinxu.
When he wakes, he looks at her with a mix of surprise and deep concern. He explains that he came to the area to photograph rare bears but got caught in a blizzard, lost his luggage, and fainted from exhaustion. Nongyu is surprised to realize he is the very guest she had been waiting for. While checking him in, Nongyu looks at his ID and notes that his name is quite interesting, as the initials of Xie Xinxu are "X.
X. X." He is momentarily taken aback, perhaps hoping she has remembered him, but her distant, unfamiliar gaze leaves him disappointed. Trying to be a kind host, Nongyu prepares a bowl of instant noodles for him, only to realize later that they were expired. Feeling guilty, she suggests he move to a guest room, but Xie Xinxu feigns dizziness and nausea, blaming the expired noodles so he can stay in her personal quarters for better care.
Worried about his condition, Nongyu agrees. As night falls, a heavy snow causes a typical local power outage. Nongyu goes out to check the breaker but is terrified when a large bear appears. She rushes back, but the door is locked from the inside. Xie Xinxu opens it just in time, and she falls into his arms in a panic. The bear eventually breaks the door down, forcing them to hide behind a cabinet.
Xie Xinxu holds her close, reassuring her that the animal will leave once it has eaten its fill. Nongyu finds herself leaning into the embrace, a feeling that lingers even after the danger passes. Disturbed by her own "sinister" thoughts and growing attraction, she quickly gets up to check the fridge, nearly getting hit by a falling beverage before Xie Xinxu catches it. Their physical proximity sends her heart racing.
The next morning, Xie Xinxu sets to work repairing the damaged doors and windows. Nongyu prepares a drink for him, and when he takes it directly from her hand, the closeness causes her heart to pound again. She finds herself thinking that a kiss might be even better, but she tries to suppress her imagination. Later, Xie Xinxu mentions he is skilled in many things and asks if there is anything else she needs help with.
In a moment of impulsive curiosity, Nongyu asks if he knows how to kiss. Immediately embarrassed, Nongyu tries to flee, claiming her mouth ran faster than her brain because she has been single for too long. However, Xie Xinxu stops her and gently agrees to satisfy her curiosity, though he claims he is not very experienced. They share a tender kiss, and Nongyu is so nervous that she completely forgets to breathe. After the kiss ends, Xie Xinxu softly asks if she needs to be taught how to breathe. Flustered and breathless, Nongyu quickly bids him a hurried goodnight and runs away.
