Max led Wu Nongyu and Xie Xinxu to his drug and weapon vaults, showing them a new shipment of stimulants designed to significantly boost virus concentration in a short period. Wu Nongyu immediately realized these could restore the strength of the imprisoned Lin Juan and Li Xiang. In the armory, she blamed her poor shooting on the equipment, prompting Max to let Xie Xinxu help her pick a pistol.
While pretending to search for magazines, Wu Nongyu surreptitiously hid several detonators in her pant leg. As they left, Max noticed Wu Nongyu's stiff gait and tried to inspect her. Xie Xinxu intervened, claiming her leg was sore because he had been too forceful with her the previous night. He then carried her away to end the suspicion. Max, however, remained wary and ordered his men to guard the drug vault closely.
He viewed this as a final test of loyalty; if either Xie Xinxu or Wu Nongyu attempted to steal the drugs, they would be deemed untrustworthy and eliminated. Later, under Max’s supervision, Wu Nongyu was forced to practice shooting with Lin Juan as her target. Xie Xinxu stepped in to assist, using chopsticks to guide her arms and waist while teaching her how to tighten her core and align her sights.
Despite the intimate coaching, Wu Nongyu intentionally missed the target and criticized Xie Xinxu’s teaching abilities to maintain her cover. That night, Wu Nongyu decided to act. She tricked and seemingly knocked Xie Xinxu out before dragging him onto the bed. Unbeknownst to her, Xie Xinxu was faking and even helped her by catching a falling lamp to prevent her from being discovered.
Thinking she was alone, she whispered a final goodbye and jumped out the window to rescue her friends. Max, who had been monitoring her room, saw her leave and ordered his guards to let her into the drug vault so he could trap and toy with her. However, Wu Nongyu outsmarted him. Instead of walking into the trap at the vault, she used the stolen detonators to blow up the corridor leading to it.
The explosion caused total chaos; the guards, fearing their inhibitors had been destroyed in the blast, lost control and began fighting one another. Taking advantage of the riot, Wu Nongyu geared up at the armory and fought her way to the holding cells. She took down the guards with ease, privately acknowledging that Xie Xinxu’s shooting lessons had actually been effective. After freeing Lin Juan and Li Xiang, the trio was quickly surrounded by Max and his remaining men.
Suddenly, a car sped toward them. While Max’s men focused on the driver's seat, Xie Xinxu emerged from the trunk and opened fire, catching the enemy off guard. As Xie Xinxu provided cover for their escape, Wu Nongyu reached out to him. In that brief moment of emotional distraction, Max fired a shot that hit Xie Xinxu squarely in the back, causing him to collapse onto Wu Nongyu’s shoulder.
