Previously, after Ye Feimo's heartfelt confession, Wen Xiaonuan unexpectedly left for a month-long work trip. Consequently, Ye Feimo was in a terrible mood at work, criticising data and lashing out at employees, even calling someone "dumb" and declaring the data "terrible." His assistant, Gu Yunzhou, cautiously dealt with him, speculating that Ye Feimo might have quarreled with Wen Xiaonuan and warning him not to involve innocent people in their personal matters.
Ye Feimo dismissed Gu Yunzhou with a look, leading Gu Yunzhou to quickly make an excuse to leave, finding the atmosphere "terrifying." Gu Yunzhou found his girlfriend, Jiayi, to vent his frustrations, lamenting that since Wen Xiaonuan's departure, it felt as if "the world has lost all its warmth," and Ye Feimo's mood had made Anning company "as cold as a block of ice."
Jiayi acknowledged that Wen Xiaonuan had gone for work, but noted that Ye Feimo had just confessed his feelings when Wen Xiaonuan "left without saying anything." Gu Yunzhou observed that Ye Feimo, despite his outwardly "aloof and uncaring" demeanor, had a "childish side" and had "not liked many people" throughout the years. Gu Yunzhou then passionately reassured Jiayi of his sole devotion to her.
Jiayi playfully wondered if Wen Xiaonuan was "Yaohua's spy," intending to bring down Anning, to which Gu Yunzhou humorously suggested she could be a scriptwriter, then affirmed he was "the scriptwriter of their love story." A month later, Wen Xiaonuan returned from her work, looking well despite the effort. Her manager, Xiaojing, confirmed her payment, including the balance for the "Blue Sky Galaxy" project, had been transferred.
Wen Xiaonuan happily stated the large sum was for "something really big" and left to cash the check. She then went directly to Ye Feimo. Ye Feimo, still holding a grudge over her sudden departure, coldly told her to speak with Zhou Xiaojing as he didn't "directly manage artists." Wen Xiaonuan revealed her purpose, stating she was there to pay back the one million yuan she owed him.
Ye Feimo, visibly upset, questioned if this was "why you went away for a month without saying a word," then curtly told her she could leave after confirming receipt. Wen Xiaonuan, feeling hurt, asked if he had anything to say to her after such a long time apart, but he simply replied, "No." Upon returning home, Wen Xiaonuan was greeted by Jiayi, who inquired about her trip.
Wen Xiaonuan confided that while everything else went well, Ye Feimo had been cold and unresponsive when she paid him back. Jiayi explained Wen Xiaonuan's error in judgment: she had confessed her feelings, then left without a clear reply, only to return a month later intending to settle their financial debt and sever their connection.
Jiayi deduced that while Ye Feimo would feign indifference, he must have "had a tough time for the past month" and advised Wen Xiaonuan to take proactive steps to "cheer him up." Wen Xiaonuan began her efforts by entering Ye Feimo's home, explaining that his security password was her birthdate. She prepared drinking water by his bedside, squeezed toothpaste for him, and prepared his favorite "seafood porridge, soybean milk, and fried dough sticks."
She mentally labeled this tactic as "The Ultimate: Meticulous Care Method" designed to express affection and make him "drunk in love." She then attempted the "nonchalant straw method," which involved an "enchanting gaze, puckered lips," and subtle sipping sounds to create "fatal seduction." Despite her efforts, Ye Feimo was unimpressed, asking if she had a fever and telling her to "consult a doctor," before questioning her presence. Undeterred, Wen Xiaonuan suggested they go to work together.
She planned to execute the "30 seconds method," intending to sit in the passenger seat, let Ye Feimo fasten her seatbelt, and then apologize. However, Ye Feimo surprised her by telling her to drive, noting her driver's license was listed in her biodata. Wen Xiaonuan confessed she had "never driven a car" since obtaining her license. Despite her inexperience, they set off to avoid being late and having his pay deducted.
Her driving was terrifyingly erratic, swaying left and right and stepping on the gas pedal frantically, causing Ye Feimo to repeatedly shout warnings to "watch out," "steady," and "slow down." She later admitted this was her "first time driving since I got my license." Wen Xiaonuan persisted, waiting for Ye Feimo by the elevator.
He tried to avoid her, claiming he was "busy" and wanted to "be alone," even opting to "take the stairs" to his apartment on the 35th floor. To his surprise, Wen Xiaonuan was already inside his apartment, having waited for him. Ye Feimo questioned her presence, suggesting she seemed "happy out there." She declared she was "courting" him and confronted him about his newfound coldness, stating he had "quenched my enthusiasm."
Wen Xiaonuan apologized and patiently explained that her trip to "Changbai Mountain for work" was to enable them to have an "equal starting point" in their relationship, unlike their previous interactions which were "based on a contract." She emphasized her desire to "stand side by side equally" in love. However, Ye Feimo dismissed her explanations as "too late" and coldly told her to "get out of here."
Heartbroken and in tears, Wen Xiaonuan confided in Jiayi, fearing that Ye Feimo was "really going to dump" her, as she couldn't cheer him up no matter what she tried. Jiayi then contacted Gu Yunzhou, informing him that Wen Xiaonuan's attempts had failed. Gu Yunzhou declared it was "my turn to do something now." Meanwhile, at Yaohua Media, Jiang Fang was asserting his growing influence, confidently making decisions and impressing colleagues.
Jiang Ling'er observed him, noting his busy schedule left little time for her but still admiring him. However, her underlying resentment towards Wen Xiaonuan surfaced when she angrily ordered a poster of Wen Xiaonuan to be taken down, despite Jiang Fang himself having approved it, declaring she "didn't want to see her." Gu Yunzhou initiated his plan by bringing food to Ye Feimo, claiming Wen Xiaonuan had sent it and asked him to ensure he finished it.
Ye Feimo feigned indifference, stating they were "fine" and that he was merely "teaching her a lesson" for fun, not genuinely angry. Gu Yunzhou challenged him, asking if he didn't find Wen Xiaonuan "very cute" and reminding him of his dismal state "a month ago." He delivered a stern warning, emphasizing that "love is not a business, and there's no winner."
Gu Yunzhou cautioned that if Ye Feimo persisted in his harsh treatment, he would "hurt Wen Xiaonuan really badly," and would "regret what you've done" if she eventually left him. Ye Feimo seemed to take the advice to heart and sent Wen Xiaonuan a message: "See you this weekend. We'll talk." Ye Feimo prepared a grand surprise for Wen Xiaonuan, guiding her with closed eyes to a beautifully lit carousel. Wen Xiaonuan was overjoyed by the sight.
Ye Feimo then sought her forgiveness and clarified that he had "never thought" she was "inferior" in their relationship. He affirmed her individuality, stating, "You're stubborn in your own way. You're proud in your own way. You're just you. You're Wen Xiaonuan." Wen Xiaonuan thanked him, expressing how his presence had "changed her life completely" and that "happiness came so suddenly." She confessed that her previous efforts were driven by a desire to "prove that I'm good enough for you."
Ye Feimo affectionately called her a "silly girl," reassuring her that she "need not prove anything," because to him, she was "the best" and "a blessing." He then presented her with a card that read, "We'll share our joy and sorrow," symbolizing their shared future and commitment. The next morning, the couple officially began their dating mode, shyly holding hands as they prepared for work. Ye Feimo eagerly invited Wen Xiaonuan to go to work together.
Wen Xiaonuan, however, preferred to go separately, worried that as a "rookie" dating "the boss," they would become the subject of "gossip." Ye Feimo insisted there was nothing to hide, reminding her he had publicly stated he would announce his relationships.
