However, they unexpectedly became embroiled in a power struggle within the Marquis's mansion.

Recap

The story takes place in the Yanli Kingdom. Liu Jingshu and Liu Jia, twin sisters from the General's household, had a big fight on their wedding day. In the past, twins were considered an ominous sign, so General Liu took Liu Jia to the frontier military camp to be raised in order to protect her. Growing up on the frontier, Liu Jia became free-spirited, skilled in martial arts, and straightforward, while Liu Jingshu, who grew up in the Liu household, was innocent, romantic, and pure. However, everything was disrupted by a wedding.

Three months ago, Liu Jia's older sister, who was about to get married, suddenly disappeared. General Liu instructed his youngest daughter to find her older sister Liu Jingshu as soon as possible, without revealing the twins' identity. On the road, Liu Jia met a masked man who recognized that the girl hiding next to her was actually a boy in disguise. When the man tried to abduct Liu Jia, she ended up overpowering him. Just as Liu Jia was about to leave, the man stopped her and took her horse. In the process, Liu Jia's hairpin fell, revealing her true gender. The man's mask also fell off, and he left with Liu Jia as his suspect, leaving her fuming.

Imperial tutor Meng has always had a grudge against the Liu family. Now, Liu Jingshu has been betrothed to the eldest son of the Xuanping Marquis, Xiao Renyan, by the emperor. However, the Liu family has not yet handed over Liu Jingshu. Just as Imperial Tutor Meng was about to hold them responsible, Liu Jingshu suddenly appeared. Liu mother immediately recognized her as her youngest daughter, Liu Jia. Liu Jia would not let Imperial Tutor Meng off easily, and even he said he would apologize with his death.

Imperial Tutor Meng, of course, was not a kind person, so he threw a bird on the ground and killed it, which he considered to be his apology. Liu Jia wanted to continue arguing, but her mother stopped her. After Imperial Tutor Meng left, Liu mother was worried that the twins' identity would be discovered. If Liu Jingshu did not appear on her wedding day, Liu Jia said she would marry Xiao Renyan in her sister's place.

With the wedding approaching, Xiao Renyan deliberately drank a lot of alcohol in order to conceal the bloody smell on his body. The old lady was very angry when she saw this. Just then, she learned that two bridal sedans were arguing at the door. It turned out that the Xiao family was marrying two brides today, so the Liu and Meng families were vying to enter first. However, Liu Jia told the maids to let them go first.

Liu Jia remembered that when she was leaving in the morning, Liu's mother was very reluctant. After all, both children were their cherished babies. Liu Jia also knew that her sister must have her own difficulties, so she didn't want to make a fuss about it.

Even though Liu Jia let the Meng family enter first, she still wanted to teach her maids a lesson. Unexpectedly, Liu Jia directly threw a stone out of the bridal sedan, and the Meng family servant was knocked down on the ground. At this time, Liu Jia also came out.

Xiao Renyan immediately recognized that Liu Jia was the woman he had met in the woods. The daughter of the Meng family also came out to compete with her. At this time, Xiao's father came out and pointed at the two brides who were preparing to fight. Liu Jia naturally would not back down, while the daughter of the Meng family pretended to be wronged.

Just at this moment, the memorial tablet of the Lady of the Marquis of Xiao's Palace was taken out, and everyone present dared not speak. In fact, all of this was done by Xiao Renyan. When his father asked why he took out the memorial tablet on the day of the big play, Liu Jia suddenly saw Xiao Renyan's face and was very surprised. She did not expect that the masked man she had met in the woods was the one who was going to marry her sister, Xiao Renyan.

Xiao's father never expected his son to do such a thing, but Xiao Renyan said it was his wedding day and there should be no problem with letting his biological mother come and take a look. Liu Jia was surprised to see Xiao Renyan, but she didn't expect to meet the man who had stolen her horse. Xiao Renyan even said that his father had remarried only a year after his mother's death, and that Xiao's father was defending the daughter of Imperial Tutor Meng because he had married the son of a second marriage wife.

As the heir of the Xiao family, Xiao Renyan naturally did not allow his wife to suffer even a bit of grievance. He walked down and directly took Liu Jia into his arms and entered the gate of the Liu family, which surprised Liu Jia, but she didn't say anything. In the evening, Liu Jia saw that her sister still hadn't been found, so she planned to leave to find clues about her sister. She decided to put a drug in Xiao Renyan's wine but was caught by a maid. Liu Jia quickly hid the drug. Xiao Renyan came back, already drunk. Liu Jia secretly complained that Xiao Renyan was a drunkard.

Xiao Renyan lifted the cover on Liu Jia's head and even deliberately said that he felt familiar with her. Liu Jia then suggested they drink the "bridal cup," which Xiao Renyan naturally agreed to. However, he could also sense that there was a problem with the wine. Xiao Renyan deliberately bumped into Liu Jia to see if she had any kung fu, but Liu Jia was quickly exposed. Both knew each other from their encounter in the woods. Xiao Renyan even began to suspect Liu Jia's identity, as the rumored Liu Jingshu was a weak woman who couldn't even do martial arts, but Liu Jia turned out to be quite skilled. At this time, Xiao Renyan's friends began to come and make noise in the bridal chamber. Little did they know that the two were already fighting with swords on the bed. After the wedding guests left, they put down their swords.

The two also talked about their encounter outside the city, and they both had secrets. They both knew that the explanations they gave each other were questionable, but they didn't point it out. Since that was the case, Liu Jia suggested that they cooperate. They showed their love outside the room, but inside the room, they did their own things. The next morning, the maid informed Liu Jia that her hairpin had been stolen.

Early in the morning, when Liu Jia and Xiao Renyan were having breakfast, they heard from the maidservant that Yuanpa had been stolen. Liu Jia was very nervous, but Xiao Renyan pretended to be indifferent. Then, someone from Madame Xiao's side asked Xiao Renyan and Liu Jia to go together to find Yuanpa. Liu Jia was naturally very worried because Yuanpa was a very important item. When Xiao's father learned about this, he was very angry and said that Liu Jia's innocence couldn't be proved. He even wanted to take Liu Jia out and beat her severely. At this point, Liu Jia suggested that Meng Hanjiao should go first to offer tea. If both of their Yuanpas were found to have problems, they would be punished together.

Meng Hanjiao naturally thought that she had no problem, so she went to offer tea. However, when the maidservant brought out the Yuanpa, they found that there were two of them. Everyone present was surprised. In fact, all of this was Liu Jia's plan. When she was in the toilet, she heard Meng Hanjiao cursing her. It turned out that Meng Hanjiao was the one who stole Yuanpa and threw it on top of Liu Jia's head in the toilet. The maidservant forgot to bring toilet paper, so when the maidservant went to get it, Liu Jia put another Yuanpa in the box.

Now Liu Jia turned the tables on Meng Hanjiao. Xiao Renyan also began to stir things up and said that the two of them could get remarried. Since Yuanpa had been found, but there was no red mark on it, Liu Jia quickly looked to Xiao Renyan for help. In fact, they had both been worrying about Yuanpa the night before, but Xiao Renyan asked Liu Jia to solve it herself.

So Liu Jia began to deliberately say that Xiao Renyan was not kind, and pushed all the blame onto him. Xiao Renyan couldn't argue back anymore. Xiao's father severely reprimanded Xiao Renyan, and he didn't know how to defend himself. Xiao Renyan had to leave angrily, and when he left, everyone was still cheering him on.

Madam Xiao brought Liu Jia to the ancestral hall, and unexpectedly, she knew that Liu Jia had fallen seriously ill the day before her wedding and had forgotten some of her past memories. After Madam Xiao let Liu Jia rest, Imperial Tutor Meng began to complain to Madam Xiao. Madam Xiao said that if she hadn't protected Liu Jia today, Meng Haojiao might have been punished as well. Madam Xiao believed that whether Liu Jia's amnesia was real or fake, she had to see what kind of trouble she could cause.

Xiao Renyan dressed up at home and prepared to go out, while Liu Jia deliberately mocked him. Now the whole Xiao family knew that Xiao Renyan was incompetent, but he still wanted to violate Liu Jia. As a result, Liu Jia turned the tables on him. Since Xiao Renyan had left, Liu Jia was ready to investigate the details of the Xiao family. Xiao Renyan also came to the Spring Tower and actually came to question Jiang Dazhuang, who was arrested that day, despite his apparent carousing.

As soon as Liu Jia came out, she saw Zhang Yuanqing leaving in black clothes. She wanted to check the situation in the room, but was discovered by the second young master of the Xiao family. Liu Jia hurriedly left, and the second young master of the Xiao family followed, but was quickly resolved by Xiao Renyan. After everyone left, Xiao Renyan and Liu Jia looked at each other, and they thought their relationship might heat up. However, Liu Jia sneezed, ruining the moment.

Before Xiao Renyan left, Liu Jia told him that her parents would definitely ask her about the situation tomorrow, so she needed his help. Xiao Renyan naturally refused, but Liu Jia did not smell powder or even smelled blood on him. Therefore, Xiao Renyan must have gone to question the prisoner, and this matter was still a secret. Xiao Renyan suddenly grabbed Liu Jia's neck and said that the more she knew, the faster she would die.

Xiao Renyan had originally thought that he could threaten Liu Jia, but she didn't care at all. She even said that as long as he let her live safely in the Xiao family, she wouldn't reveal his secret. Xiao Renyan continued to threaten her and even demanded that she bear him a child, but Liu Jia kicked him in the genitals.

The next day, Liu Jia was taken for interrogation by Xiao's father, who was still angry and thought that she had violated the rules of the Xiao family the previous night. However, at that moment, Xiao Renyan also arrived. Xiao's father accused him, but Xiao Renyan felt that he had done nothing wrong and that Liu Jia was just cooperating with him. Meng Haojiao also wanted to intentionally blame Xiao Renyan, but he said that his mother was sick in bed at the time, and Xiao's father was with Zhang Yuanqing, his second wife, in the river. Zhang Yuanqing immediately acted very aggrieved.

Xiao's father was very angry, and Xiao Renyan kept arguing with him, which eventually caused him to have a heart attack. Xiao's second son, Xiao Ming, and his mother Zhang Yuanqing had been taking care of Xiao's father, but after taking the medicine, his condition became more severe and he even fell into a coma. In fact, all of this was a plot by Zhang Yuanqing and her son. At this time, Xiao Renyan was still considering whether to go in or not, but he thought that Zhang Yuanqing was always very meticulous, so he must go in and see what was happening.

Xiao Renyan still intended to go in and take a look, but Xiao Ming deliberately blamed everything on him, even saying that Xiao's father had been made unconscious because of Xiao Renyan. Zhang Yuanqing also pretended to be pitiful. Xiao Renyan intentionally said that Zhang Yuanqing was responsible for Xiao's father's diet, and if there was a problem, it would be her responsibility. The physician came and told them that Xiao's father had suffered a stroke due to pneumonia and that he might not recover. At this time, Meng Haojiao was still instigating and saying that Xiao Renyan should be handed over to the Shencriminal Bureau for punishment, but Xiao Renyan knew their tricks. Unexpectedly, Liu Jia came over and even spoke up for Xiao Renyan. The only thing Xiao Renyan could do now was not to implicate Liu Jia.

Xiao Renyan had his subordinate call Liu Jia to the Spring Tower in order to make Zhang Yuanqing let down his guard and reveal his true intentions. Later, Liu Jingshu also came over and saw that Xiao Renyan was in a daze. Liu Jia directly poured wine on Xiao Renyan's face. In fact, Xiao Renyan deliberately provoked Liu Jia. Liu Jia was very angry and felt that Xiao's father was still lying in bed while Xiao Renyan was still enjoying himself outside. Liu Jia harshly criticized Xiao Renyan and talked about the love of parents for their children. Xiao Renyan also knew that even though his father had many shortcomings, he was still his father.

Xiao Renyan was just about to leave with Liu Jia, but suddenly he said he had a headache and couldn't leave. Liu Jia had to help him back home. Actually, Xiao Renyan was hiding his true condition. After they returned home, they went to see Xiao's father and happened to overhear Zhang Yuanqing instructing his subordinates to make medicine for Xiao's father. Xiao's father woke up just in time for Zhang Yuanqing to sow discord and blame everything on Xiao Renyan. Zhang Yuanqing even wanted to make Xiao Ming the crown prince and had already drafted a memorial. Xiao's father naturally refused. At this moment, Zhang Yuanqing suddenly revealed her true face. She became fierce and even forced Xiao's father to leave a handprint. Xiao's father refused all along and finally smeared the memorial with blood when he coughed up blood.

Liu Jia and Xiao Renyan went back home. Actually, Liu Jia deliberately made Xiao's father cough up blood earlier. She used a silver needle to seal his blood vessels and then intentionally made him cough up blood so that Zhang Yuanqing would not have the chance to continue causing trouble. Before leaving, Liu Jia took the handkerchief stained with blood and went back. When she got back, she questioned Xiao Renyan whether he was pretending to be drunk and deceiving her. Xiao Renyan quickly defended himself. Liu Jia also discovered that Xiao's father's blackened blood was a sign of poisoning, caused by a specific poison called the Broken Soul Flower.

Although the poison of the Soul-breaking Flower is extremely difficult to cure, it is not incurable. Xiao Renyan swore to find the person who poisoned his father. As soon as they came out, they heard Wang Yuanqing telling Xiao Ming that his father had woken up, but Zhang Yuanqing said that Xiao's father did not want to see Xiao Renyan. Zhang Yuanqing deliberately said that Xiao's father had fallen asleep, so he asked them to come back during the day. Just as the two were about to leave, unexpectedly, Meng Hanjiao saw the blood on Liu Jia's feet.

Zhang Yuanqing naturally wouldn't miss any opportunity to frame the couple. At this moment, Liu Jia took out a bloody handkerchief, which belonged to Zhang Yuanqing. Zhang Yuanqing quickly explained that he accidentally left it in Xiao's father's room. Xiao Ming even wanted to give Liu Jia a fake one, but Liu Jia asked Meng Hanjiao to smell the blood, and Meng Hanjiao did smell a floral scent, so Liu Jia confirmed that it was a symptom of poisoning.

To confirm Liu Jia's suspicion, they called the imperial physician. However, the imperial physician repeatedly emphasized that Xiao's father was not poisoned. Liu Jia pretended to say that the imperial physician did not understand the situation of the Soul-breaking Flower poison. Then Liu Jia listed the after-effects caused by taking the poison of the Soul-breaking Flower. If they continued with this treatment, Xiao's father's life would not be guaranteed. Wang Yuanqing asked Liu Jia to produce the antidote, but Liu Jia said she did not have it. This was laughed at by Xiao Ming and Zhang Yuanqing. Liu Jia said she could use acupuncture to detoxify Xiao's father. Everyone thought it was unbelievable, and Xiao Renyan also used his own future as a guarantee. Finally, Zhang Yuanqing had to agree.

Liu Jia began to needle Xiao's father, and even the imperial physician had to admire her needlework. Soon, Xiao's father began to cough up blood, and he woke up like this. Everyone present was very surprised. Xiao Ming even wanted to get closer to take a look, but Liu Jia told everyone not to move.

Xiao Father vomited all the stagnant blood in his body, followed by several mouthfuls of fresh blood, which made Liu Jia breathe a sigh of relief. At this moment, the imperial physician intentionally claimed that Xiao Father's heart pulse was injured, and Zhang Yuanqing ordered Xiao Renyan and Liu Jia to be locked in the ancestral hall. Xiao Renyan was worried about Liu Jia in the ancestral hall and even asked her to escape first, but Liu Jia reassured Xiao Renyan that Xiao Father's condition would improve in a few days.

The fact that Xiao Father vomited fresh blood indicated that the toxins in his body had been discharged, and he would definitely recover from the danger. This made Xiao Renyan have to admire Liu Jia, and sometimes even began to wonder if she was really a wealthy young lady. Liu Jia neither admitted nor denied it, as Xiao Renyan had his own secrets. Suddenly feeling hungry, Liu Jia was given the offerings in the ancestral hall by Xiao Renyan to eat. Liu Jia was hesitant to eat, but Xiao Renyan comforted her and even said that she wasn't fat. The two sat outside the door, watching the night sky together. Liu Jia couldn't help but admire the beauty of the night, and they both felt a bit embarrassed when they made eye contact.

The next morning, Liu Jia and Xiao Renyan were both in pain from sleeping on the floor. Zhang Yuanqing and Xiao Ming came over, and even the Imperial Tutor Meng was summoned. They even claimed that Liu Jia not only failed to cure Xiao Father, but his condition worsened, and she would have to pay the price. Xiao Renyan stood in front of Liu Jia to block her. He even loudly stated that this was his home, not the Imperial Tutor's mansion. Wang Yuanqing pretended to want to pull Xiao Renyan away. Imperial Tutor Meng pulled out a white cloth and tried to stab Liu Jia. It was at this moment that the imperial edict arrived.

The emperor requested a thorough investigation into Xiao Father's case. Xiao Renyan was surprised as he did not know why there was an imperial edict. In fact, Liu Jia knew there would be a problem last night, so she asked her good friend Wei Honghe for help.

Wei Honghe received a letter from Liu Jia and learned that she had married Xiao Renyan and was in danger. He quickly went to rescue her. Thanks to Wei Honghe, Liu Jia said she had married in place of her missing sister to find out the truth. Wei Honghe was also worried that Xiao Renyan would mistreat Liu Jia. At this time, Xiao Renyan also arrived. During this time, Wei Honghe told Xiao Renyan that he would be staying at the Xiao family's mansion.

The two of them spoke with each other in a confrontational manner, which made Liu Jia feel very strange. At this time, a maid came to report that the person they were looking for had already been found. Unexpectedly, Zhang Yuanqing had already found a scapegoat maid, Hongye, to take the blame. After Liu Jia confirmed it, the poison was indeed from the scent of the "Broken Soul Flower". Wei Honghe also brought the imperial handkerchief, which could be used for poison testing. Afterwards, Wei Honghe began to test the poison in front of everyone, and the white cloth turned red. This poison must be from the "Broken Soul Flower".

Zhang Yuanqing also brought Hongye over. At this time, Zhang Yuanqing immediately changed his attitude and intentionally said not to blame Liu Jia. At this time, the maid came back to report that Hongye had committed suicide by jumping into a well. Liu Jia deliberately asked why she didn't believe Hongye's words at the time, and now there was no evidence. However, the maid by Zhang Yuanqing's side said that Hongye had poisoned Liu Jia because Xiao's father had forcibly taken her. This scene happened to be seen by the maid. In fact, Liu Jia and Xiao Renyan had also guessed that Hongye must have been a scapegoat. Zhang Yuanqing was the most suspicious, after all, they heard everything very clearly from under the bed that night.

Liu Jia entrusted Wei Honghe to handle the matter. The only clue now was to investigate Hongye's hometown. If it was really Zhang Yuanqing who framed her, there would definitely be some evidence.
