Fall in You Episode 8 Recap
> Fall in You Recap
He Wei, identifying himself as the father of Gu Jingyuan, the President of Gu's Group, publicly reported his son for favoring the rich, being ungrateful, and refusing to provide for him. He presented "evidence," claiming that after Gu Jingyuan's mother died, Gu Jingyuan, then known as He Yuan, deemed their family too poor and ran to a welfare house, falsely claiming to be an orphan.
He was subsequently adopted by Chairman Gu and, according to He Wei, refused to acknowledge him as his father, neglecting him for years. He Wei even accused Gu Jingyuan of using children for a bidding process, stating he couldn't let him harm others, reinforcing his alleged paternal claim. Gu Jingyuan, surrounded by reporters pressing him about the Parent-Child Day incident, flashed back to his childhood.
He recalled being falsely accused of stealing, called a "bastard child," and brutally beaten by He Wei, who encouraged others to join in. Later, Gu Jingyuan confronted He Wei. He Wei mockingly welcomed his "President son" and demanded to be called "Dad." Gu Jingyuan questioned why He Wei lied about never seeking him out, as he only ever sought money.
He Wei confirmed his true intent was to "destroy" Gu Jingyuan because he "didn't make him happy," and he insulted Gu Jingyuan's mother, regretting his birth, reiterating that Gu Jingyuan was an unwanted "bastard child." Gu Jingyuan retorted, calling He Wei a villain and rejecting a life constantly overshadowed by childhood trauma. In response, He Wei revealed a shocking truth: Gu Jingyuan's mother, Luo Qian, was alive, and he had deliberately lied about her death.
He then threatened Luo Qian's life to manipulate Gu Jingyuan, showing photos of her in the hospital as proof, daring Gu Jingyuan to risk her safety. Gu Jingyuan, shaken, questioned why he should trust He Wei. Qiao Yan sought out Lu Wanqing to discuss He Wei. Lu Wanqing confirmed that the matter deeply distressed Gu Jingyuan and revealed He Wei was not Gu Jingyuan's biological father, but simply married his mother.
She described He Wei as a scoundrel and habitual thief who, when drunk, would violently beat people. Whenever his own thefts were discovered, He Wei would force Gu Jingyuan to be the scapegoat, leading to frequent beatings. Consequently, Gu Jingyuan stopped defending himself against accusations because no one ever believed him. Despite Lu Wanqing's advice to leave him alone, Qiao Yan felt Gu Jingyuan desperately needed someone to find him and share his sadness and grievances.
She searched for him, calling out, until she found him curled up. She hugged him. He unconvincingly claimed to be fine, but Qiao Yan insisted he was not. She offered her shoulder for him to cry, or to help him fight He Wei, which he initially dismissed, stating it was "none of her business." Qiao Yan, however, recognized his contradictory behavior—making noise to be found but refusing to respond, hoping for her support but pushing her away.
She asserted her understanding, claiming to hear his unspoken plea for her help, and directly told him she had heard his true feelings. Gu Jingyuan thanked Qiao Yan, though he jokingly called her a fool. He speculated that He Wei's actions, initially seeming to be only about money, were more serious because they had escalated to sabotaging their event and slandering him, suggesting a connection to the bidding process.
He admitted to previously suspecting Qin Mian and believed He Wei could be a key to uncovering the truth, but also acknowledged his reluctance to face He Wei again. Qiao Yan reassured him, promising to handle the matter. Meanwhile, Chairman Gu, enraged by He Wei's repeated challenges and public demand for Gu Jingyuan to confront him in a live stream, had already prepared strong evidence to counter He Wei.
Qiao Yan, upon learning of the public confrontation, volunteered to represent Gu Jingyuan in the live stream. She reviewed the comprehensive evidence provided by Chairman Gu, who encouraged her to proceed, even offering to shut down the live stream if she faced difficulties. At the "Xiaobai Interview," the host noted Gu Jingyuan's absence, prompting He Wei to express a desire for Gu Jingyuan to show "conscience." Qiao Yan then made an unexpected appearance, declaring her intent to reveal the truth.
She publicly stated that He Wei was merely Gu Jingyuan's foster father, who had never acted responsibly, only abusing him, despite Gu Jingyuan never refusing to provide for him. When He Wei accused her of slandering him and demanded proof, Qiao Yan produced two official documents. One was a police report from 2003 detailing He Wei's drunken assault on a young He Yuan, pushing him onto broken glass, resulting in five stitches.
The second was a welfare house record, showing He Yuan arrived there with signs of long-term abuse. It also revealed He Wei had tried to extort money from the welfare house before abandoning He Yuan there permanently. He Wei tried to justify his actions, claiming he was disciplining Gu Jingyuan to prevent him from stealing, and then presented an apology letter signed by a young Gu Jingyuan, implying his guilt.
Qiao Yan immediately accused him of forcing Gu Jingyuan to sign it and challenged his credibility, especially as He Wei began falsely linking Gu Jingyuan to the Parent-Child Day poisoning. As online comments turned against Gu Jingyuan, He Wei gloated, asserting that public opinion was the truth. Qiao Yan, enraged, accused He Wei of treating Gu Jingyuan as an emotional punching bag and using cyberbullying against him for personal gain, questioning his humanity.
He Wei retaliated by attempting to throw water at Qiao Yan, but Gu Jingyuan suddenly arrived, shielding her. Gu Jingyuan produced an old tape recorder, explaining it contained evidence he took when he ran away from He Wei's abuse at eight. He played a recording that revealed He Wei was the true thief and brutally forced a young Gu Jingyuan to sign a false apology letter, threatening him with violence. He Wei frantically claimed the recording was fake.
Gu Jingyuan declared he would submit the recording for authentication and publicly release full investigation results for both the Parent-Child Day incident and the bidding scandal. He then addressed the live stream audience directly, asserting that the Gu family was his true family, regardless of public labels like "the Gu family's dog," because they gave him a home. He concluded with a stark warning: anyone who slandered his family or Gu's Group online would face legal action.
With that, he took Qiao Yan's hand and departed, ignoring the host's protests. Elsewhere, Gu Jingyuan's capabilities were noted by opponents. One of them explained his aggressive focus on Gu's Group and the real estate market was to prevent them from monopolizing the industry and to secure his son's future, stressing the importance of relentlessly pursuing competitors.
Back at the Gu family home, Chairman Gu had prepared hot pot to celebrate, calling for two old bottles of wine specifically saved since Gu Jingyuan joined the family. During dinner, Chairman Gu expressed his deep affection for Gu Jingyuan, treating him as his own son, and promised the Gu family would always be his steadfast support. Qiao Yan lightheartedly complained about Chairman Gu favoring Gu Jingyuan with food, prompting him to offer her some too.
Gu Jingyuan reassured Chairman Gu that he would successfully resolve the Parent-Child Day incident and secure the land for the bidding. As the meal continued, Gu Jingyuan gently warned Qiao Yan about the wine's potency. Qiao Yan playfully dismissed his concern, though she subtly noted her rapidly beating heart, questioning if she was truly intoxicated. The atmosphere between Gu Jingyuan and Qiao Yan remained subtly warm and affectionate.
