Qin Ziyu, holding Qiao Yan captive, used her phone to contact Gu Jingyuan. As soon as Gu Jingyuan received the call, he immediately rushed to the location Qin Ziyu gave him, a remote villa. Qin Ziyu demanded that Gu Jingyuan come alone and warned him not to involve the police, or Qiao Yan would die. Qiao Yan tried to tell Gu Jingyuan not to come, but Qin Ziyu threatened her.
In a fit of madness, Qin Ziyu revealed his intention to destroy Qiao Yan and Gu Jingyuan, a path reminiscent of Qin Mian. He told Qiao Yan that they were in Song Xinyue's house, where his mother had lived before marrying his father. He spoke of childhood memories and how much happier his mother was there, which made him happy too.
Qin Ziyu then expressed his resentment towards Gu Jingyuan, believing his life was ruined because Gu Jingyuan was Qin Mian's biological son, and he coveted everything Gu Jingyuan had. Qiao Yan, however, vehemently rejected his claims, stating she would only ever love Gu Jingyuan. She vehemently questioned why Qin Ziyu had killed her parents. Qin Ziyu then revealed that Qin Mian had only intended to kill Gu Hai.
However, upon discovering this, Qin Ziyu himself ordered Feng to kill Qiao Yuling, driven by his hatred for her, as he believed she had caused his mother immense pain. Qiao Yan further solidified her accusation by presenting the DNA report that proved Qin Ziyu was, in fact, Qin Mian's biological son. She explained Qin Mian's cunning plan to swap babies with Song Xinyue if both were the same gender, ensuring he could raise his true son.
She also accused Qin Ziyu of indirectly causing Gu Changfeng's death by failing to help him retrieve his medicine, because Gu Changfeng had uncovered Qin Ziyu's involvement in Qiao Yan's parents' car accident. Qin Ziyu admitted to this, justifying it by calling Gu Changfeng "suspicious." As Gu Jingyuan arrived at the Donghu Villa, he immediately sent his location to Lin Ze, instructing him to call the police.
Lin Ze and Miao, upon receiving the message, swiftly left their home and alerted the authorities. Inside, Qin Ziyu, reeling from Qiao Yan's revelations and the DNA proof, finally understood that he was Qin Mian's biological son. He remembered his father's words, always claiming everything he did was for Qin Ziyu, which now made sense. Overwhelmed and broken, Qin Ziyu questioned who truly loved him. He had already doused the house with gasoline, intending to take everyone down with him.
Gu Jingyuan intervened, revealing that Song Xinyue had visited him at the welfare home before her death, wanting to take him in. She only delayed so she could prepare Qin Ziyu, not wanting him to feel abandoned. Qiao Yan added that Luo Qian's last words were Qin Ziyu's name, emphasizing that despite their flaws, everyone had loved him in their own ways. In the ensuing struggle, as Gu Jingyuan tried to stop Qin Ziyu, a knife plunged into his body.
The police and medical teams arrived shortly after, and Gu Jingyuan was rushed to the hospital. Though his life was saved, he had suffered severe blood loss, leading to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, and fell into a coma with an uncertain prognosis. Qiao Yan spiraled into despair, refusing to eat or return home. Lu Wanqing visited her at the hospital, urging her to snap out of her despondency.
She reminded Qiao Yan that Gu Jingyuan risked his life for her, not to see her in such a state. Lu Wanqing's words reignited Qiao Yan's spirit. Qiao Yan returned to Gu's Group, where she addressed the employees, expressing gratitude for their loyalty during a difficult period and announcing a three-month salary bonus for everyone. She took charge of the company, managing affairs diligently while balancing daily visits to the hospital, finding strength and motivation in thoughts of Gu Jingyuan.
A few months later, as Miao prepared to return to Germany, she visited Gu Jingyuan at the hospital, playfully urging him to wake up. As Qiao Yan walked Miao out, Lin Ze finally mustered the courage to confess his feelings to Miao. To prove his sincerity, he brought along his younger sister, Wenwen, and his cousin, Mei. Qiao Yan couldn't help but smile at Lin Ze's earnest yet awkward display.
Miao, touched, told Lin Ze she would wait for him to visit her if she didn't return, and they parted ways, with Lin Ze promising to be there for her. After several months, Gu Jingyuan finally awoke from his coma. By the time of their one-year proposal anniversary, he had been awake for several months and was fully recovered. He had bought the Rose Theater, her favorite place, gifting it to her so she could pursue her passion for the violin and theater while he took on the responsibility of supporting their family. He then presented her with a newly custom-made ring, solemnly placing it on her finger and vowing never to lose it again.
