Mosheng observed that despite Xiao Xiao's claims of not wanting the child, she seemed deeply affected by it. Mosheng gently suggested Xiao Xiao consider dating Lu Yuanfeng, but Xiao Xiao dismissed the idea, citing the complexities of family and career considerations in marriage. She revealed that Lu Yuanfeng's parents had recently visited her photography studio. Upon learning from Mosheng that they were academics, Xiao Xiao felt even more daunted, believing such "cultural" figures would never accept her profession.

Mosheng called her mother to inform her that their wedding date was set and to invite her. She explained that she and He Yichen had registered their marriage long ago but were now holding a ceremony. Her mother, however, explicitly stated her disapproval of Mosheng marrying He Yichen. Mosheng, sounding resigned, told her mother she could be direct if she didn't want to attend, as Mosheng was accustomed to her mother's lack of affection since childhood.

She expressed that she merely wanted to share this significant life event and receive her mother's blessing. Xiao Xiao later found herself in the apartment building's parking lot, encountering He Yichen who was returning home. He playfully told her about a "decision" to double her attorney fees for the coming year. Suddenly, a camera flash revealed hidden paparazzi. Just then, Lu Yuanfeng appeared, having followed the journalist who was tracking Xiao Xiao.

He quickly intervened, asserting to the paparazzi that Xiao Xiao was merely visiting a friend and that He Yichen was her friend's husband. He subtly leveraged He Yichen's reputation as a famous lawyer to persuade the journalists to delete the photos, claiming they were a mistake. After the paparazzi left, Lu Yuanfeng chastised Xiao Xiao, saying her prolonged stay at Mosheng's was inappropriate for a newlywed couple and that Mosheng was not equipped to care for a pregnant woman.

Xiao Xiao retorted that she would never marry a man whose heart still belonged to someone else. Later, Lu Yuanfeng sought out He Yimei, who was conducting street interviews. He Yimei shared that she had transitioned from being an anchor to a field journalist, finally pursuing her long-held dream. She reflected on how she had initially become an anchor, believing the more glamorous role would make her worthy of the person she loved, causing her to abandon her true aspirations.

Lu Yuanfeng then confided in her that he might be starting a new relationship. He Yimei, with a hint of wistfulness, offered him her sincere blessings. Lu Yuanfeng returned to Mosheng's apartment, determined to speak with Xiao Xiao. He told her that his past affection for He Yimei was for an idealized image he had created in his mind. Xiao Xiao found the idea of them marrying solely due to a mistake or an unexpected child laughable.

However, Lu Yuanfeng pleaded for a chance, admitting he might not be in love with her yet, but affirmed that if he couldn't love her, he wouldn't love anyone else. He then presented her with a necklace that He Yimei had returned to him, asking her to accept it if she was willing to accept him. Mosheng, who had been secretly observing with He Yichen, was gently pulled away by him.

When she looked back, Xiao Xiao and Lu Yuanfeng were gone. The next day, Mosheng learned that Lu Yuanfeng had "dragged" Xiao Xiao to meet his parents. Xiao Xiao recounted the awkward meeting, explaining that Lu Yuanfeng's father had seemingly approved, believing her intelligence and good looks would "neutralize" Lu Yuanfeng's perceived foolishness. While still conflicted about marrying under such circumstances, Xiao Xiao admitted she was growing increasingly fond of the child.

She reminisced about her grandmother's wisdom, who emphasized honesty and kindness as the most important qualities in a partner, not wealth or appearance. Xiao Xiao felt Lu Yuanfeng possessed the qualities of a good husband and father but still struggled with the idea of rushing into marriage solely for the baby. Meanwhile, He Yichen's colleagues at the law firm buzzed with excitement about his upcoming wedding, discussing gifts, attire, and their celebratory plans.

Mosheng's mother, Ms. Pei, made an unannounced visit to He Yichen's law firm. She initially attempted to strike a cordial tone, asking if he remembered her from their previous brief encounter and suggesting he refer to her as "Mother-in-law" or Ms. Pei since he was marrying Mosheng. She expressed admiration for He Yichen, based on Mosheng's praise, and claimed she was there to learn more about him.

He Yichen subtly implied her concern for Mosheng was belated, to which Ms. Pei acknowledged her past neglect of Mosheng, attributing it to her busy career and strained relationship with Mosheng's father. She wondered if it was too late to make amends. She then subtly inquired about He Yichen's parents' professions and suggested arranging a meeting. He Yichen calmly revealed that his parents had passed away long ago.

Cutting to the chase, He Yichen directly asked if she had come to ascertain if he knew about Mosheng's father's involvement in his own father's death. Ms. Pei then questioned if his marriage to Mosheng was a scheme for revenge. He Yichen dismissed the notion, stating he lacked the patience for such a complex revenge plan and assured her that Mosheng was unaware of the history and would remain so.

Relieved, Ms. Pei disclosed her version of the truth, claiming Mosheng's father had actually paid the contractor, but the contractor's actions caused the payment delay, leading to He Yichen's father's accident, calling it a misunderstanding. He Yichen calmly informed her that he already knew the full truth, having successfully prosecuted the contractor for financial fraud four years prior.

As Ms. Pei prepared to leave, hoping for a promise from him, He Yichen made a profound declaration: "They gave me ten years, but I want Mosheng for a lifetime." He believed Mosheng should not be burdened with these past troubles. The grand wedding of Mosheng and He Yichen finally took place, with the newlyweds accepting heartfelt blessings from their friends and family to the accompaniment of piano music. Mosheng's mother, however, stood outside the venue, seemingly unable to enter. As she turned to leave, she crossed paths with He Yimei, who was arriving.
