Upon reuniting with her former roommate Xiao Xiao for a photoshoot, Zhao Mosheng is met with a barrage of bitter remarks. Xiao Xiao first reflects on how much she has changed due to personal tragedies, then sharply criticizes Zhao Mosheng for being 'hypocritical.' She then questions Zhao Mosheng's photography skills and professional qualifications, recalling that Zhao Mosheng majored in chemistry.

Xiao Xiao subsequently brings up Zhao Mosheng's sudden disappearance seven years ago, vividly describing how He Yichen frantically searched for her, only to be left in despair when her belongings were moved and he learned she had gone to the United States indefinitely. Zhao Mosheng internally contradicts this, remembering that He Yichen had been the one to say he never wanted to see her again.

Xiao Xiao, unsatisfied with the photos and citing a contract clause about the photoshoot schedule, dramatically tears up the contract, much to the anger of Chief Editor Zhang. Zhang insists on suing Xiao Xiao for breach of contract. Despite Zhao Mosheng's apologies and her offer to try and resolve the issue peacefully due to her past connection with Xiao Xiao, Chief Editor Zhang dismisses her efforts, feeling she is unaware of Xiao Xiao's difficult nature.

Lu Yuanfeng, recognizing Zhao Mosheng's determination, secretly provides her with Xiao Xiao's contact number. Meanwhile, Xiao Xiao consults her lawyer, He Yichen. He advises her that tearing the contract puts her at a disadvantage and that a lawsuit would be unfavorable, noting this is the fifth time this year someone has wanted to sue her. He warns he might stop representing her if her behavior continues.

Xiao Xiao suggests his tolerance for her might be different if she were Zhao Mosheng, but He Yichen steers the conversation back to business. Xiao Xiao explains her dissatisfaction with the photographer's inexperience, prompting He Yichen to point out a clause in the contract requiring the photographer to have at least five years of experience specializing in portrait photography. He suggests this loophole could lead to a negotiated settlement. Xiao Xiao insists that He Yichen handle the case personally.

Upon seeing the photographer's contact number and name (Zhao Mosheng) on a note left by Xiao Xiao, He Yichen decides to take on the case himself. He instructs his assistant to contact Zhao Mosheng and demand proof of her qualifications, warning of substantial compensation if she fails to provide it. Following Director Wen's instructions, Zhao Mosheng prepares her portfolio and certifications for an interview with Xiao Xiao's lawyer, hoping for a peaceful resolution despite her lack of domestic experience.

She arrives at Yuan Xiang He Law Firm, wondering if there is a lawyer named He there. The receptionist informs her the lawyer is in an important meeting and asks her to wait at a nearby café. He Yichen, though in his office looking at documents, deliberately avoids meeting Zhao Mosheng. As a heavy rain begins, Mosheng waits for hours.

He Yichen later sits in his car outside the cafe, observing her and pondering how it feels to wait for someone. He eventually instructs his assistant to simply collect her documents and send her away, without ever meeting her. Zhao Mosheng's documents are returned by the assistant, and she leaves without seeing the lawyer. Back at his office, He Yichen reviews Zhao Mosheng's submitted documents, particularly her signature.

He is overcome by memories, flashing back to a time when he playfully criticized her handwriting, and she had playfully declared that with him around, she could be lazy for a lifetime. He Yimei arrives at his office and notices Zhao Mosheng's name on the documents, reacting with surprise. At the magazine office, Director Wen severely reprimands Zhao Mosheng for the delays caused by the legal dispute, which resulted in them having to use backup photos for the cover.

She dismisses Zhao Mosheng's ideas for photo editing and explicitly forbids her from contacting other models, questioning her overseas "resources." Overhearing, other colleagues gossip about Zhao Mosheng potentially faking her qualifications, and the large compensation the magazine might face. Feeling down, Zhao Mosheng is comforted by Lu Yuanfeng, who organizes a late-night snack for everyone, paid for by Zhao Mosheng as an apology for causing trouble. Director Wen, however, cynically dismisses this gesture.

Undeterred, Zhao Mosheng contacts international supermodel David Morgan, with whom she had worked abroad. David Morgan agrees to a two-hour photoshoot. During the session, Zhao Mosheng also arranges for Lu Yuanfeng to photograph David Morgan, much to his excitement. Everyone is pleased with the shoot, but Director Wen remains critical, focusing on the increased expenses and the uncertain impact of a male model on a traditionally female-focused magazine cover.

Gu Xinghong, however, is enthusiastic about the new photos and plans to use them for the cover. Later, Gu Xinghong, Zhao Mosheng, and Lu Yuanfeng decide to have dinner together. They coincidentally run into Director Wen and He Yimei, who were also planning to dine there. During the awkward meal, He Yimei inadvertently reveals to Zhao Mosheng that He Yichen is Xiao Xiao's lawyer.

She had seen Zhao Mosheng's documents on his desk the day before, confirming Zhao Mosheng's return from the US. Zhao Mosheng is shocked to learn this, recalling that she never met the lawyer, only his assistant. He Yichen meets Xiao Xiao again, asking if she truly wants to pursue the lawsuit and take it to court. Xiao Xiao, suspecting his motives, asks if he feels sympathetic now that he knows who the opposing party is.

He Yichen calmly states he has not met Zhao Mosheng. Xiao Xiao expresses her confusion about the misunderstanding between them, urging He Yichen to clear things up. She speculates that if Zhao Mosheng leaves again, he might spend the rest of his life alone with his law career, but He Yichen dismisses her concerns and leaves. Later, He Yichen inadvertently loses his wallet while shopping at a supermarket, which is then found by a security guard.
