> Resúmenes de My Sunshine
While chatting with Mosheng, Sister Juan heard noises from her home and realized her husband, Cruise, had returned. Concerned he might harm their son, Xiao Jia, Sister Juan hurried back. A short while later, Mosheng heard a scream and rushed to find Sister Juan holding a knife, with Cruise bleeding on the ground. Sister Juan was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison for intentional injury. She entrusted Xiao Jia to Mosheng, who promised to care for the child.
However, Cruise frequently appeared, hysterically attempting to snatch Xiao Jia and demanding ten dollars a day from Mosheng, which only made the boy more withdrawn. Mosheng sought to gain custody of Xiao Jia, but her lawyer informed her that as she was not related to the child and was struggling financially, it would be very difficult to win the case. Mosheng lamented that if she had studied law, or if He Yichen were there, he could have helped Xiao Jia.
Desperate for funds, Mosheng recalled having helped Ying Hui years ago. She wrote him a letter, asking if he could return the five hundred dollars she had sent him if it was convenient. Ying Hui, now the CEO of INSO Network, personally sought out Mosheng after receiving her letter. He told her that her five hundred dollars had sustained him through his most difficult period, and without it, he might have sold his software, never achieving his current success.
He learned that Mosheng intended to use the money to help others and decided to assist her further. Ying Hui consulted his lawyer, Smith, about Mosheng's situation. Smith noted that Mosheng lacked sufficient evidence of Cruise's domestic violence, and even if Cruise's custody was revoked, Mosheng could not adopt Xiao Jia due to her age, economic status, or marital status. He suggested that if Mosheng were to marry a qualified man, her chances of obtaining custody would increase significantly.
Ying Hui decided to marry Mosheng himself. He proposed to her that she could enter into a fake marriage with a qualified individual to secure custody for Xiao Jia, offering his help. Mosheng, however, initially hesitated, not wanting to trouble him with such a drastic measure. Meanwhile, the situation changed when Mosheng’s landlord photographed Cruise drunkenly burning Xiao Jia with a cigarette. Cruise’s parental rights were revoked, but Xiao Jia was sent to an orphanage.
Despite being busy with her studies and job applications, Mosheng visited Xiao Jia every other day, bringing him food and hoping for a better life. She confided in a friend that Xiao Jia had a learning disability and was frequently bullied by other children at the orphanage, especially because he was mixed-race. Her friend shared a tragic story of another mixed-blood child who had died from bullying, emphasizing that adoption was the best option for Xiao Jia.
Moved by this, Mosheng called Ying Hui and told him she had decided to adopt Xiao Jia. Ying Hui immediately instructed Smith to draft a prenuptial agreement overnight. The agreement stipulated that Mosheng would gain no benefits from the marriage and would not be required to fulfill any marital obligations. Ying Hui explained that this specific arrangement would allow Mosheng to completely let down her guard and accept the marriage he offered.
Mosheng, though acknowledging it would be a marriage in name only, expressed immense gratitude to Ying Hui. He downplayed his generosity, citing that his company's upcoming public listing would benefit from him being a married man and that she had already done much for him. When they went through the adoption process, Mosheng and Ying Hui had to explain their living arrangements, with him in California and her in New York.
He clarified that he would fly to New York monthly to spend time with Xiao Jia and that they would all relocate together after Mosheng graduated. Mosheng began to refer to him as "Brother Ying," a change he welcomed, noting it helped maintain their cover during the adoption process. He affectionately called her "my wife." Three years later, Sister Juan was released from prison.
At the airport, she thanked Mosheng and Ying Hui for their help and decided to return to China with Xiao Jia. Before leaving, she urged Mosheng to cherish the people beside her. Ying Hui noticed Mosheng’s sadness and asked if she wished to return to China. Mosheng replied that being alone in a foreign country felt normal, but returning home only to be alone would be truly pathetic.
Ying Hui then revealed that his parents were coming to America and had discovered their marriage. He asked Mosheng to help maintain the facade, inviting her to his home in California for their visit. At Ying Hui’s home, Mosheng cooked instant noodles, preferring them over a meal prepared by his chef. She confided in him about the difficulty of finding a job as a Chinese person in America.
Ying Hui offered assistance, but Mosheng politely declined, stating she couldn’t always rely on him. Ying Hui, observing her, silently mused that her pride was tied to He Yichen, who was now only part of her past. One evening, Ying Hui noticed Mosheng using his search engine to look for He Yichen. She asked him if he had ever loved someone, and he admitted he had a smart, beautiful girlfriend in college.
Mosheng then said her own ex-boyfriend was also excellent. Ying Hui inwardly thought that He Yichen was now just a memory. Mosheng then questioned, "Am I that lame?" Friends celebrated INSO Network’s listing on Nasdaq, and a drunk Ying Hui returned home. Mosheng cared for him, but in his inebriated state, he pushed her onto the bed. She struggled and managed to escape. The next morning, a sober Ying Hui apologized profusely.
Mosheng, in her innocence, asked if he had mistaken her for his ex-girlfriend, leaving Ying Hui speechless as he grappled with whether to confirm her assumption or admit his true feelings, either choice potentially ending their complicated dynamic.
