Wu Siyuan presents Wu Nongyu with a photo of a man named Lin Juan, praising him as a suitable match and instructing her to pay close attention to him at an upcoming matchmaking event. Despite her refusal, Nongyu wakes up the next day to find herself already at the venue, realizing her brother drugged her bedtime milk to ensure her attendance. Secretary Zhang, who escorted her there, insists she stay to complete the scheduled process.
At the event, Nongyu encounters her senior, Xia Yuyan, who taunts her about a previous supposed connection with a "Teacher Gu." Xia Yuyan reveals a terrifying truth: as an "Yin," Nongyu must form a pact with a "Ren" before she turns twenty-five—which is only six months away—or face rapid organ failure and death caused by an internal virus. Xia Yuyan warns Nongyu not to compete with her for the best candidates.
Furious, Nongyu calls Siyuan to confront him for hiding her condition. Siyuan admits he only wanted her to grow up carefree while he handled the complications. He explains that he groomed Lin Juan specifically for her because of his absolute loyalty, suggesting she can treat him as a servant or even a "blood bag" to suppress her virus.
Meanwhile, Siyuan displays his own ruthless nature at the Genus facility by harshly rejecting a woman’s offer to help soothe his own active virus, asserting that he alone decides when he requires such treatment. In the arena, Lin Juan dominates the competition until the final challenger, Xie Xinxu, arrives.
When Xie Xinxu approaches the spectator area, Nongyu instinctively tries to flee, but the guards broadcast a warning that they will fire on any challenger who takes another step toward the audience. To save him from being shot, Nongyu stays to watch the duel. Xie Xinxu eventually triumphs by shattering Lin Juan’s sword.
As the winners are instructed to approach the Yin they desire, another Ren is shot dead by guards for attempting to seize Xia Yuyan by force after she rejected him. Realizing that Xie Xinxu might also meet a violent end if she rejects him, Nongyu finally reaches out and accepts him when he kneels before her. The two later negotiate a private agreement to help one another.
Nongyu proposes that she will provide Xie Xinxu with a legal identity and freedom, while he provides blood for her research into a virus inhibitor. This arrangement also allows her to avoid the marriage her brother tried to force upon her. Xie Xinxu agrees but stipulates that he requires "comfort" through physical proximity whenever he loses control. Nongyu agrees he can hold her, but any further intimacy requires her explicit permission.
Although Xie Xinxu demonstrates he can easily break his chains and ignore the contract, he signs it anyway, stating that his loyalty depends entirely on his desire for her affection. Afterward, Nongyu instructs Secretary Zhang to proceed with wedding preparations but asks him to keep the change of groom a secret from Siyuan for the time being.
Lin Juan expresses frustration at being caught in the middle of the siblings' power struggle but ultimately accepts her choice, for which Nongyu expresses her gratitude. During a grueling schedule of wedding dress fittings and photoshoots, a hungry Nongyu tries to sneak a snack during a break, only to be startled when she finds Xie Xinxu standing right beside her.
