Wu Nongyu declared her intent to move on to a new story where Xie Xinxu no longer existed, but Xinxu was not ready to let her go. Waking up in the car and seeing her in a deep, restless sleep, he whispered that if she was unwilling to wake up, he would simply stay by her side within her dreams. Holding her hand, he plunged back into her subconscious.

Nongyu found herself in Xinxu’s former home, witnessing a manifestation of his past. She watched as a younger Xinxu cornered the man who killed his parents. The man begged for mercy, claiming he had only killed them because he lost control and went berserk, but Xinxu was cold, desiring only his death. Nongyu watched the revenge play out, feeling a mix of horror and pity for the man Xinxu had become.

Nongyu attempted to leave the dream to create a new one, but the nightmare shifted. She saw Xinxu chained up, seemingly playing the victim, before he suddenly turned his aggression toward her brother, Wu Siyuan. In a shock of violence, Xinxu choked Siyuan and stabbed him with a blade. Nongyu watched in horror as he dragged Siyuan’s body away, only to find the scene transforming into the ruins where Siyuan had once fallen.

As the cycle of violence repeated, Nongyu stepped in to stop him, forcing him to look closely at the person he was trying to kill over and over again. To her shock, the face of the victim was Xinxu's own. Standing amidst the ruins, Nongyu finally understood the nature of his inner world.

Xinxu had been living in a cycle of hatred and vengeance where every blow he struck against his enemies—whether it was the killer or the man who trained him—was actually a wound he was inflicting upon himself. Nongyu realized that continuing to hate and torment him would only trap her in this everlasting nightmare as well. Choosing to break the cycle, she took his hand and urged him to leave this place.

As they looked at each other and shared a final, soft smile, a blinding light enveloped them, and they both woke up back in the car. Though Xinxu held her tightly, Nongyu suggested that they were both exhausted from the struggle and should finally let each other go. Xinxu quietly agreed. Before they parted ways, Xinxu cleared the air regarding her brother.

He explained that Siyuan was not the one who killed his parents; they had been killed by a "Ren" who lost control, and Siyuan had merely been following Director Xia Shang’s orders. This revelation eased the tension between them, offering a sense of closure. As Xinxu helped Nongyu pack her things, he was meticulously attentive, organizing her medications.

He reminded her to take liver-protecting tablets when she stayed up late studying, along with Vitamin C, lutein, and stomach medicine for her digestion. He even provided a new drug to delay the viral outbreaks in her body, insisting she contact him if she felt unwell. Nongyu, moved by his care, couldn't help but cry. As the night drew to a close, Nongyu suggested that they indulge themselves one last time since it was their final night together.

Lying in bed, Xinxu asked her to rate how much she hated him on a scale of one to ten. Nongyu admitted it was a ten, but she quickly added that her love for him was also a ten. She confessed that she truly and deeply loved him, describing their bond as a peak love-hate relationship.

Xinxu thanked her for giving their relationship a "suspended sentence" rather than a "death penalty," allowing time to show whether their beautiful memories or their painful feelings would last longer. They spent the remaining hours of the night in each other's arms, cherishing the final moments of their connection. The following morning, Xinxu woke up to find Nongyu already gone.

Six months passed, and Nongyu moved forward with her life, enrolling as a PhD student at a medical school to research a cure for the virus. One afternoon, as she left the lab, two male colleagues approached her to invite her to a welcoming feast. Nongyu politely declined their invitation, looking toward Lin Juan, who was waiting for her in the distance. She told her colleagues that she couldn't join them because her boyfriend had arrived to pick her up.
