Resumen del episodio 39 de Affinity
> Resúmenes de Affinity
Director Ding continues his harrowing confession, explaining the obsession that consumed him after his wife, Lin Yu, fell into a coma while researching a virus cure. Desperate to wake her, he theorized that a high concentration of the A-Virus might be the key. He went as far as using his daughter Wu Nongyu’s blood for experiments, as her viral concentration was significantly higher than average. This cruelty led his son, Siyuan, to report him to the authorities.
Following the scandal, an associate named Dayu fled with the formula to prevent the research from being shut down. Director Ding then staged a fatal fire, leaving behind biological remains to fake his and Lin Yu's deaths. He underwent plastic surgery—even opting for double eyelids to suit Lin Yu's preferences—and changed his name to Wu Ming to continue his search for the missing catalyst of the cure.
After years of searching, Ding began to fear the final component did not exist. With both his and Lin Yu’s health failing, he abandoned the pursuit of a perfect cure and instead chose a path that would eliminate the virus by causing the organs of all infected individuals—the "Yin" and "Ren"—to fail. He learned that the formula data was stored on a glass disk split into three fragments.
To find them, he manipulated Xie Xinxu into becoming his assistant, though their methods eventually diverged. When Nongyu asks if Siyuan’s death ever gave him pause, Ding sheds tears but maintains that individual sacrifices are necessary for the "greater good." He then leads Nongyu to see her comatose mother, warning her and Xie Xinxu that if they try to leave, Lin Juan and the other captives will be killed.
Once Ding leaves, Nongyu and Xie Xinxu coordinate a plan to rescue the captives. However, Lin Yu’s condition suddenly worsens as she begins vomiting blood. Xie Xinxu performs an immediate transfusion using his own blood, which miraculously wakes Lin Yu from her long coma. Overjoyed yet confronted by the horror of what her husband has become, Lin Yu pleads with Ding to stop his plan, reminding him that her research was meant to cherish life, not destroy it.
Softened by her plea, Ding agrees to disclose the location of the test subjects just as police sirens fill the air. As the police arrive to arrest him, Ding asks for a final moment with Nongyu. He clarifies that he never wanted her or Siyuan involved in this dangerous "whirlpool."
He admits that while he initially hesitated when Xie Xinxu insisted on bringing Nongyu into the institute as an intern, he eventually agreed, realizing that if his daughter had to bond with a "Ren," Xie Xinxu was the best choice. He also reveals he sent her Lin Yu’s favorite fountain pen as a wedding gift to ensure her mother’s blessing reached her.
In a final admission, he reflects on the irony of fate: Siyuan’s report once "killed" him, yet Ding later indirectly facilitated the revenge that targeted his own son. Despite his coldness, he reveals he had protected Nongyu in secret—injecting Xie Xinxu with a stimulant to save her in the Sunset Forest and using her watch to send a distress signal when she was kidnapped by Xiao Zhang. As Ding is led away, Nongyu clings to her father and weeps, finally parting with a complex mix of grief and realization.
