Butterflied Lover Episode 16 Recap
> Butterflied Lover Recap
Bao Zhu arrived at Ling Changfeng's courtyard, intending to call out, but Ling Changjin, who had secretly followed her, quickly covered her mouth. Bao Zhu realized Ling Changjin was there to find Tang Qianyue. Seeing Ling Changfeng and Tang Qianyue looking happy together, Bao Zhu pleaded with Ling Changjin, explaining that while Tang Qianyue was once a butterfly slave, she was not born that way.
Now, she simply wished to live as Ling Changfeng's normal wife and the mother of their unborn child. Ling Changjin was surprised to learn of Tang Qianyue's pregnancy and agreed not to disturb them. Bao Zhu quickly made a pinky swear with Ling Changjin, and then felt relieved. Ling Changjin had expected Bao Zhu to enter the courtyard, but Bao Zhu simply wanted to confirm their well-being.
Content that they were safe and happy, she hung the package of snacks she had brought outside the courtyard gate and then walked back with Ling Changjin towards the mansion. Later, Ling Changfeng discovered the snacks Bao Zhu had left. Inside the courtyard, Ling Changfeng was deeply worried about Tang Qianyue's morning sickness, wishing he could suffer in her stead and wondering if Ms. Yuan could find a way to transfer her discomfort to him.
Tang Qianyue gently laughed, remarking that it was natural for women to endure these pains during childbirth and wondering where he got such strange ideas. Ling Changfeng insisted that since the child belonged to both of them, it was unfair for her to suffer alone. Tang Qianyue, in turn, expressed her willingness to endure anything to safely deliver their child for him. Ling Changfeng then playfully suggested he would vomit whenever she did.
Tang Qianyue, feigning a retch and urging him to imitate her, filled the small courtyard with their laughter. As Ling Changjin and Bao Zhu traveled back without a carriage, they were forced to take shelter in a cave during a snowstorm. Bao Zhu shivered uncontrollably, even with Ling Changjin having built a fire. Observing her increasing weakness, Ling Changjin, concerned, launched a signal flare to the Shenji Camp for assistance.
Bao Zhu became flustered and embarrassed, realizing the entire camp would soon know her private condition. It was then that Ling Changjin understood her discomfort was due to her menstrual cycle, and he immediately sought to help her. When Bao Zhu's clothes became soiled, Ling Changjin went to nearby villagers to borrow fresh garments for her, and then personally washed her dirty clothes.
Bao Zhu commented that his hands, as a man, should be wielding weapons on the battlefield, not washing clothes. Ling Changjin countered that duties should not be divided by gender, much like his own sister was highly skilled at wielding weapons. Bao Zhu's curiosity about Ling Changjin's sister grew, and she promised to help save her, explaining that as a princess, she had a duty to help others, and with Kirin blood, she had the ability to do so.
However, Bao Zhu's body had already weakened from previous blood extractions, and Ling Changjin, knowing she was not one to think only of herself, no longer had the heart to take her blood. Bao Zhu still felt unwell, and Ling Changjin offered his shoulder for her to lean on. Meanwhile, Kun Qing reported to Ling Changjin that finding Kirin blood was proving extremely difficult, with none found in the surrounding cities.
He reiterated that only Bao Zhu possessed such blood and noted that her health had significantly weakened since the previous blood extractions, making her susceptible to even a slight wind. Ling Changjin, troubled by this news, instructed Kun Qing to remain at the mansion from the following day onward to monitor Bao Zhu's health and report any changes.
Kun Qing, who had previously been caring for Ling Changjin's sister, expressed his surprise, as the Kirin blood the princess had previously given was already running out. Ling Changjin pondered whether he had made many mistakes, to which Kun Qing kindly responded that many things in the world could not be judged as simply right or wrong, before taking his leave. Later, as the sun began to set, He Xi found Bao Zhu still asleep.
He tried to wake her, emphasizing the impropriety of her sleeping so late, especially with Ling Changjin having returned. Ling Changjin, however, entered the room and, ignoring the formalities, gently roused Bao Zhu and offered to feed her. Bao Zhu admitted she was hungry but lacked the strength to eat, so Ling Changjin personally spoon-fed her. He Xi, watching the tender scene, was happy for Princess Bao Zhu.
