Struggling to find the right emotion for a scene, You Xi employs a tactic of "playing hard to get." He ignores Yao Yao's complaints about being an extra and announces his intention to rehearse with Zheng Jia'er, correctly guessing this will prompt Yao Yao to volunteer instead. They begin rehearsing a romantic scene between Lv Bu and Diao Chan. Just as the emotional intensity peaks, You Xi's relative, Pan Duo, unexpectedly bursts into the room. Startled, Yao Yao hides.
Although Pan Duo doesn't get a clear look, she catches a glimpse of braids, mistakenly believing You Xi is secretly involved with a braided extra. Later, at a meal, Pan Duo confronts You Xi about a clandestine relationship with a braided woman. Seeing You Xi hesitate, Yao Yao steps forward and admits it was her. Upon this revelation, Pan Duo’s demeanor shifts from suspicion to delight.
Meanwhile, Zhu Da Zhuang calls to inquire about the memoir You Xi promised to write. You Xi boasts of having written tens of thousands of words, but Zhu Da Zhuang announces he will check the progress the next day. Facing a blank screen, You Xi, leveraging his hidden talent as a hacker, intentionally crashes his computer to feign the loss of his work. However, Zhu Da Zhuang, aware of You Xi's skills, arrives prepared.
He reveals that he had preemptively upgraded the computer to automatically upload all documents to the cloud. With no escape, You Xi admits he has written nothing. Instead of the nude run across a bridge he jokingly feared, he is forced to spend an exhausting afternoon playing with elementary school children.
In a separate development, Song Qie Ge is confident his new drama, "Falling Apart", will beat You Xi's "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms", largely because superstar Qi Chao is slated to sing its theme song. To Song Qie Ge's shock, Qi Chao abruptly cancels their collaboration and joins You Xi's project instead. You Xi calls Qi Chao to offer support during the recording, but Qi Chao declines and explicitly forbids him from telling Pan Duo.
However, Pan Duo, who happens to be on another call with You Xi at the same time, overhears everything. The next day, Pan Duo shows up at Qi Chao's studio with takeout. During the recording, her enthusiastic attempts to sing along from outside the booth disrupt Qi Chao's performance. Despite his initial annoyance, Qi Chao’s feelings for Pan Duo begin to shift as he observes her unwavering dedication.
That night, Yao Yao reminds You Xi that despite his current success, he must remain vigilant, as calm waters can hide dangerous undercurrents. You Xi dismisses her concerns, declaring he is fearless. The next day, during filming, the director receives an urgent notice to halt production because the script is suspected of distorting historical facts. Song Qie Ge and Shen Yiling appear, gloating over You Xi's predicament and mocking him, with Song Qie Ge comparing him to a "drowning dog."
Back at the company, while You Xi, Zhu Da Zhuang, and Yao Yao discuss the crisis, Qi Chao calls with more bad news: his new song is now embroiled in a plagiarism scandal, with a niche singer claiming Qi Chao stole their work. You Xi and Yao Yao rush to Qi Chao's house, where they find Pan Duo locked out. Qi Chao reluctantly lets all three in but insists he can handle the situation himself and asks them to leave.
Yao Yao persuades a reluctant You Xi to go, suggesting Qi Chao has a plan. As they depart, Pan Duo pretends to leave with them but secretly slips back into Qi Chao's house while he is distracted by a phone call. Upon returning home, You Xi and Yao Yao begin meticulously reviewing the script for any parts that could be construed as historical distortion. Meanwhile, Pan Duo is discovered hiding in Qi Chao's house. At the same time, Qi Chao is on the phone, actively working to resolve the plagiarism issue by instructing someone to track down the accuser and retrieve their original manuscript.
