Shan Liang’s unexpected return home, while Wen Rou was in the middle of a livestream, initially caught her off guard. She quickly recovered and pulled him into the broadcast, showcasing their home and preparing to cook. The host encouraged Shan Liang to read a birthday letter that Wen Rou had already started reading, which mentioned a birthday surprise in the secondary bedroom.

Despite her attempts to speak on his behalf, Shan Liang eventually read a different letter, one he supposedly wrote before a business trip, containing affectionate words about missing her. In the cooking segment, they engaged in playful banter, especially over a bitter gourd. Shan Liang, with a strained smile, made some pointed remarks about her repeated deceptions and then insisted that Wen Rou drink the freshly squeezed bitter gourd juice before the stream concluded.

After the livestream, Shan Liang began packing his belongings, intending to separate from Wen Rou. He expressed his disillusionment, feeling that her repeated deceptions made him question if their love was genuine or merely a pursuit of the "Mrs. Shan" title. He likened their relationship to the "Red Dance Shoes" story, where vanity led to deceit, and he felt like the deceived grandmother. Wen Rou desperately blocked his path, preventing him from leaving for his parents' home.

Shan Liang voiced his desire for a pure, unostentatious love, feeling exhausted by the constant need to "peel back layers" with her, wondering if there was any true "heart" beneath. The livestream was a resounding success, with viewers envying Shan Liang and Wen Rou's apparent sweetness. Observing this, Zou Jing expressed her envy of Shan Liang's generosity towards Wen Rou, contrasting it with her own husband, Mo Yingchen, who had never even bought her a handbag.

Mo Yingchen, however, argued that material possessions don't equate to love. The following morning, Wen Rou prepared breakfast for Shan Liang, but he remained cold towards her. At Xunmi, Zou Jing suggested continuing the "display of affection" marketing, given its positive impact. Shan Liang, still wary of the manufactured nature of their public image, disagreed, believing it tainted Wen Rou's love for him.

To put an end to this internal marketing, he orchestrated a deceptive plan: he created the illusion that Xunmi's capital chain had broken. Wen Rou soon arrived at Xunmi to find employees seemingly in a panic, packing their belongings as if preparing to abandon ship. Upon learning of the supposed financial crisis, she rushed to Shan Liang, who feigned deep distress.

Though Shan Liang felt uneasy about deceiving his wife, Xiao Mei and Zou Jing urged him to be firm, arguing that he would be the one getting hurt if he wasn't. Wen Rou, truly believing the company was in trouble, went shopping but consciously refrained from buying anything expensive—a dress, a king crab, or even considering a luxurious villa. Back home, she began collecting her beloved makeup and designer bags, intending to sell them on Xianyu.

Shan Liang, deeply touched by her sacrifice, secretly instructed Jian Jian to purchase all the items she listed. Determined to help, Wen Rou sought financial assistance from her mother, Cui Xuelan, who, while initially critical of Wen Rou's sacrifices for Shan Liang and suggesting she return to Wanli, eventually agreed to speak to Wen Yajun on her behalf. Wen Rou, however, insisted on pursuing her own path.

Wen Rou decided to cancel the pre-sale of her "red dance shoes" and instead sell its copyright. She met with Wen Xin, who expressed interest in acquiring the design drafts but admitted she had no intention of producing them. As a designer, Wen Rou found this unacceptable, believing her creations deserved to be brought to life. She declined Wen Xin's offer and sought other buyers.

Her next meeting was with Su Ziguang, who seemed more interested in probing her relationship with Shan Liang than discussing business. Su Ziguang, despite his industry connections, hadn't heard anything about Xunmi's financial woes and found the situation suspicious, but Wen Rou, loyal to Shan Liang, dismissed his doubts. Su Ziguang mused that love often made people foolish. Later, Shan Liang encountered Su Ziguang in a restaurant restroom.

To further his facade, Shan Liang immediately took out his phone and pretended to have a loving conversation with Wen Rou, mentioning dinner she prepared and a new bag he bought her, all to project an image of a devoted husband. Back at Xunmi, Wen Rou observed the employees' overly dramatic display of panic.

After observing Xiao Mei's theatrical phone call about cheap food and speaking individually with Jian Jian and Zou Jing, she grew increasingly suspicious, confirming her feeling that something was amiss. Realizing Shan Liang was employing her own deceptive tactics, Wen Rou resolved to retaliate, noting that she was now experiencing the bitter fruit of her own past deceptions. Wen Rou transferred 500,000 yuan to Shan Liang.

When he questioned the source and discovered she had sold the copyright of her "red dance shoes" designs, this news filled Shan Liang with guilt, prompting him to decide he needed to confess the truth. However, before he could, Wen Rou abruptly called a company-wide meeting at Xunmi. She announced to the assembled staff that Xunmi was facing dire circumstances.

To spare them further hardship, she declared that they no longer needed to come to work, stating that she and Shan Liang would personally bear all the company's difficulties. The employees were left stunned and uncertain about their next steps.
