Wen Rou expressed concern, warning Han Qing about the dangers of being controlled in a relationship and likening Lan to "sugarcane" that is sweet at first but leaves only bitter residue. Han Qing, however, dismissed Wen Rou's worries, claiming she understood the situation.
She then criticized Shan Liang, calling him a "control freak" for his constant oversight of Wen Rou. Wen Rou, in turn, fiercely defended Shan Liang, describing his actions as "caring." She recounted how he meticulously cooked nutritious meals, selected her daily outfits, and enforced a healthy routine, even if it meant her food was bland and her clothes were plainer than usual.
Later, Shan Liang confronted Wen Rou about her late return home after a meal with Han Qing and her unanswered messages, sternly reminding her to prioritize her schedule. Wen Rou was tirelessly preparing for the show, with Shan Liang constantly by her side. Backstage, models initially voiced numerous complaints about their shoes. However, their demeanor shifted dramatically when Shan Liang urged Wen Rou to sit down for the sake of her pregnancy.
Upon learning Wen Rou was expecting, the models became remarkably cooperative, expressing understanding and encouraging Wen Rou to rest. Wen Rou, despite her discomfort, assured everyone that her pregnancy would not impede the show's progress. Soon after, Lan complimented Han Qing's outfit but suggested altering the shoes to have squarer toes or even transforming them into men's shoes.
Han Qing initially resisted, explaining Polimoda's brand identity and the unisex theme of the women's shoe collection, stressing that she lacked the authority to change Wen Rou's original design. Nevertheless, under Lan's persuasive charm, Han Qing eventually relented and approached Wen Rou with the modification request. Wen Rou, relaxing with grapes provided by Shan Liang, firmly rejected the idea, citing the design's integrity and balanced comfort.
She quickly suspected Lan's influence behind the suggestion and chastised Han Qing for being easily swayed. During this tense conversation, Wen Rou suddenly clutched her stomach, causing a visibly worried Han Qing to immediately drop the argument and agree to all of Wen Rou's design decisions. Han Qing later informed Lan that Wen Rou had refused the changes due to her pregnancy-related sensitivity and attempted to soothe his disappointment.
Wen Rou grew increasingly disheartened as Liu Meng failed to respond to her invitation to be the show's opening model, fearing her event might not be prestigious enough. Shan Liang wanted to send Wen Rou to the show, but she emphatically told him that her emotional well-being was paramount for their baby's health and strictly forbade him from coming to the show venue, causing Shan Liang to back down.
She explained that his constant vigilance at home already made her feel suffocated, and his presence at the show would render her completely incapable of working. He expressed admiration for Wen Rou's dedication despite working there while pregnant. Shan Liang, who had followed Jian Jian, suddenly appeared, having overheard their conversation. Alarmed by the formaldehyde revelation, he immediately called Han Qing, instructing her to handle the issue discreetly and keep it a secret from Wen Rou. Meanwhile, Mrs. Feng and Mrs. Zhang from the board of directors, already informed of Wen Rou's pregnancy, expressed significant concerns about her capacity to manage the demanding show and future large-scale production. They appointed a professional manager to "assist" Wen Rou, who quickly realized the manager's role was supervisory, leading to deep frustration. Shan Liang, disregarding Wen Rou's earlier request, arrived before a company meeting, bringing fruit and constantly reminding her to hydrate. During the board meeting, Mrs. Feng lauded Wen Rou's dedication but openly questioned her ability to sustain the demanding workload required for Polimoda's expansion while pregnant and wearing high heels. Wen Rou, in turn, advised Wen Xin to embrace her vulnerability, implying it would appeal to Su Ziguang. Taking this advice, Wen Xin invited Su Ziguang to shop for a baby gift for Wen Rou. Su Ziguang, understanding her unfulfilled wish, bought the spider toy for Wen Xin, emphasizing that both babies and girls deserve to be cherished. Later, while watching a horror movie together, Wen Xin became startled and instinctively clutched Su Ziguang's arm. During their ensuing conversation, Wen Xin confessed that her true passions lay not in design, but in "boyish" pursuits like superheroes, a preference her father had never accepted.
