She expressed a fear that he would eventually hate her if he discovered she lied, but Hu Li playfully dismissed the idea, stating that white lies, if well-intentioned, were acceptable. He then presented her with a camera as a birthday gift.
Overjoyed, Ji Nian impulsively leaned in and kissed him. The next morning, Ji Nian awoke to find Hu Li sleeping beside her. Embarrassed, she quickly got up to make breakfast, pretending not to remember anything from the night before when Hu Li teased her about it. Later, at Ji Nian's cafe, Bai Dongchen offered to deliver some of Hu Li's belongings that were being sent from another location.
He casually brought a specific helmet, telling Ji Nian it was Hu Li's favorite, signaling his awareness of Hu Li's identity. Ji Nian quickly hid Hu Li inside, instructing him not to come out. Suspicious and wanting to understand Bai Dongchen's motives, Ji Nian agreed to meet him for lunch. During their meal, Bai Dongchen revealed that Yang Zhe had informed him about Hu Li's situation.
He proposed an alliance, hinting at Hu Li's past suicide attempt and suggesting they work together to manage the situation. While Ji Nian was wary, she felt she had no choice but to cooperate. Bai Dongchen pressed her to ensure Hu Li would trust him. Meanwhile, Hu Li felt increasingly unsettled by Ji Nian's frequent interactions with Bai Dongchen. He discovered Bai Dongchen was a prominent celebrity, which then led him to search for himself, revealing his true identity as Hu Li. He was deeply confused and angered by Ji Nian's elaborate deception and her reasons for hiding his past. The following morning, Hu Li hummed one of his own songs while making breakfast, and Ji Nian immediately recognized it, growing visibly nervous.

He redirected Hu Li's questions, advising him to focus on his past suicide attempt and depression, and to ask Ji Nian about her secrets. He further taunted Hu Li, suggesting that no one remembered him and his return wouldn't affect Bai Dongchen's status. As the two men talked, Luo Li, who had been eavesdropping, appeared and maliciously advised Hu Li to leave Ji Nian, portraying her as manipulative and self-serving. Ji Nian quickly intervened, stopping Luo Li.
Seeing that Hu Li now knew the truth, Ji Nian rushed to explain. While desperate to explain, she consciously withheld details about her transaction with Yang Zhe, fearing Hu Li's reaction. Bai Dongchen confirmed that Hu Li was aware of everything: his own identity, Bai Dongchen's identity, Hu Li's depression, and Ji Nian's lies. He warned Ji Nian that Hu Li still couldn't be exposed and that only she could keep him safe.
Hu Li, feeling betrayed, walked away, returning the helmet Ji Nian had found. Ji Nian followed him, desperate to explain. She confessed that after news of his suicide due to depression, she feared for his happiness and safety, unsure if he even wanted to return to his old life. She admitted her guilt over having contributed to his past negative publicity, which led her to keep him hidden.
Hu Li, though still angry about the deception, revealed that he had known she was lying from the beginning but chose to stay. He confessed that his memory loss felt like a second chance to start anew, away from the spotlight. He didn't want apologies; he simply didn't want her to leave, admitting that he liked her. He then asked Ji Nian if she liked him, independently of all the lies. As he spoke, Hu Li leaned in and kissed her.
