Since I Met U Episode 13 Recap
> Since I Met U Recap
After Cheng Mu confessed his feelings, he began picking Jiang Sihan up from work daily. Cheng Yu, observing the sweet dynamic between her brother and Jiang Sihan, remarked on how quickly their relationship was progressing. Jiang Sihan's recent article, "May I win your heart," written for the new dessert promotion, had been exceptionally well-received, causing her fan count to surge. She was now only 200,000 followers shy of her goal of one million.
Cheng Yu, as Jiang Sihan's boss, informed her that the company had secured several new brand deals. Considering Jiang Sihan's situation, Cheng Yu had taken the initiative to decline three out-of-town opportunities in favor of two even better local ones. After discussing work, Cheng Yu, eager to delve into Jiang Sihan's personal life, asked about the beginning of her relationship with Cheng Mu and suggested they talk over dinner.
However, Cheng Yu then received a call from Jingyang and swiftly excused herself, leading to a humorous observation that she was holding her phone upside down. Meanwhile, Jian Yihang and Han Xianglan's relationship continued to unfold, with Han Xianglan consistently accompanying him. While distributing flyers under the scorching sun, Han Xianglan complained to Jian Yihang about the heat and his lack of a smile, highlighting her dedication despite his aloofness.
Jian Yihang merely questioned if she could even get a sunburn. She then jokingly offered to help him further, asking if he was afraid of the sun, which he denied. Their colleagues, Ning and Wan Jie, were also distributing flyers, expressing their exasperation. Wan Jie even threatened to call Cheng Mu to "discipline Jian Yihang" and make him suffer too.
It was at this moment that Cheng Mu arrived, holding Jiang Sihan's hand, exhibiting open affection that startled Ning and Wan Jie. They commented on Cheng Mu's transformation from an "aloof god" to a "doting husband," expressing their envy and joking about finding their own partners. This contrasted sharply with Jian Yihang's distant behavior towards Han Xianglan. Jiang Sihan's parents were increasingly worried as she hadn't been answering their calls, only replying with messages.
Her father chastised her mother for spoiling their daughters, one of whom was abroad, while Jiang Sihan had gone to a big city, making them hard to reach. Despite their attempts to arrange stable jobs, the daughters had pursued their own paths. Jiang Sihan, after a call with her mother, was shocked to learn her parents were coming to visit. She frantically called Cheng Mu, exclaiming she was "doomed."
She confessed that she had been lying to them, claiming to be an accountant, when in fact she was now a blogger. She desperately pleaded with Cheng Mu to keep her secret, fearing her parents would force her to return home. Cheng Mu offered to accompany her to pick them up, expressing his readiness to meet her parents and pointing out that since she had canceled her previous apartment lease, they would surely want to see where she was living.
Upon their arrival, Jiang Sihan's parents were impressed by the size of her living space, though her mother still commented on Jiang Sihan's untidiness. Cheng Mu had thoughtfully prepared a guest room for them. Jiang Sihan then surprised her parents by introducing Cheng Mu not just as a friend of her brother-in-law, Zhou Ming, but as her boyfriend.
Her parents were initially taken aback, but Cheng Mu clarified that they were sleeping in separate rooms, as their relationship was still new. Jiang Sihan's mother then acknowledged Cheng Mu's prior help in caring for Rui Rui, to which Cheng Mu confirmed, affectionately referring to Rui Rui as his godson. Jiang Sihan's father, frustrated by his daughter's reticence and reliance on others, pulled her aside for a private conversation. After they returned, the father inquired about Cheng Mu's profession.
Cheng Mu humbly stated he ran a small dessert shop and invited them to visit. He also shared that his parents had passed away young and his sister, Cheng Yu, had raised him. Jiang Sihan's mother then discreetly questioned Jiang Sihan about her own work, prompting Jiang Sihan to lie, claiming she was a financial manager at Cheng Yu's company, emphasizing her good salary and Cheng Yu's care.
Her father seized the opportunity to deliver a stern lecture, stressing the importance of stable employment and vehemently advising against becoming a freelancer or blogger, citing their instability, lack of social security, and uncertainty. Feigning agreement, Jiang Sihan quickly used her "work responsibilities" as an excuse to leave, claiming she was indispensable to the company. Later, she confided in Cheng Mu that her parents' visit felt more like a "spot-check," reiterating the absolute necessity of maintaining her secret.
She recalled her father's intense disapproval when she first expressed a desire to be a blogger, forcing her to lie about finding a finance job to appease him. Despite Cheng Mu's suggestion that her parents might prioritize her well-being over her career choice, Jiang Sihan insisted on their desire for a "stable job" and implored him to continue the deception. Separately, Han Xianglan intervened when debt collectors confronted Jian Yihang yet again.
Driven by her concern, she took his phone, obtained the QR code, and immediately transferred money to pay off his entire debt, sternly warning the collectors to leave him alone. One of the collectors, impressed by her appearance, flirted with her and suggested she leave Jian Yihang for him, claiming he also enjoyed "freeloading." Han Xianglan vehemently rejected him, threatening him with severe consequences if he dared to tell Jian Yihang about her actions.
Intimidated, the collector promised silence and left. Jian Yihang, however, was visibly upset and felt deeply self-conscious that Han Xianglan had paid his debt, asserting his ability to handle his own problems and telling her not to interfere. He also stated that only he was allowed to bully her. Han Xianglan, confused by his unhappiness despite her helpfulness, pressed him for the reason behind his substantial debt.
Jian Yihang revealed that the money was borrowed for his mother's serious illness a few years prior, and he had been too embarrassed to ask Cheng Mu, who was already very generous, for more financial assistance. He then coldly informed Han Xianglan that they should not meet again until he had fully repaid her, regardless of her agreement. Deeply hurt, Han Xianglan feigned indifference, claiming she didn't care to see him either.
Returning home, a visibly upset Han Xianglan, resembling a pufferfish in her anger, recounted the incident to her brother, asking him to explain men's mindsets. She expressed her frustration that after helping Jian Yihang repay his debt out of genuine concern, he had refused to see her until he could repay her. Her brother clarified that she had misunderstood the situation, explaining that a man's pride is formidable.
Jian Yihang was already deeply embarrassed by her witnessing his vulnerable state, and her act of repaying his debt was an unbearable blow to his self-esteem. Thus, he was not avoiding her out of dislike, but because he couldn't face her. Han Xianglan then pressed her brother on whether he believed Jian Yihang liked her, to which he playfully responded with an ambiguous "I don't know" before confirming, "definitely."
He then urged her to stop playing and focus on getting serious. While helping to unpack items Jiang Sihan had sent, her parents discovered a box among her belongings that they hadn't sent and was clearly not food. Both grew concerned upon realizing it contained medication for depression, initially fearing their daughter was ill. However, their fears shifted when they saw Cheng Mu's name clearly printed on the express delivery box.
The next day, Jiang Sihan went to Cheng Yu's company, explaining she had nowhere else to go as she needed to maintain the charade of being a financial manager for her visiting parents. Cheng Yu advised her to eventually have an honest conversation with them. Later that evening, Cheng Yu hosted Jiang Sihan's parents for dinner at an upscale restaurant, treating it as an early family gathering with Cheng Mu.
At the dinner, Cheng Yu formally introduced herself to Jiang Sihan's parents as Cheng Mu's sister and Jiang Sihan's boss, praising Jiang Sihan's strong work abilities. She had arranged an elaborate meal, which delighted the parents. Jiang Sihan's parents were pleased and encouraged Cheng Mu to eat. Jiang Sihan, ever attentive, gently reminded her mother that Cheng Mu didn't like spicy food. As they all toasted to the enjoyable dinner, Jiang Sihan's mother quietly leaned in and asked Cheng Yu if Cheng Mu had depression.
