> Resumos de Never Gone
Mo Yuhua observed Zhou Ziyi’s persistent affection for Meng Jia, her roommate, and felt a quiet sadness. Later, she confided in Su Yunjin about it. Mo Yuhua admitted that she wished for things to flow naturally and not be forced when it came to Zhou Ziyi and Meng Jia. Su Yunjin then shared that her mother intended to remarry Uncle Ding, an old neighbor who had been a great help to her mother since Su Yunjin went to college.
Her mother was a prudent woman, and the fact she had decided to speak to Su Yunjin meant she had made up her mind about him. Mo Yuhua reassured Su Yunjin that it was a good thing for her mother to have someone to care for her. However, Su Yunjin was still filled with melancholy, constantly thinking of her deceased father.
She added that her mother would immediately reject Uncle Ding if Su Yunjin disapproved, as she didn't want to upset her daughter. That evening, as Su Yunjin and Shen Juan strolled, Shen Juan asked Su Yunjin if she was feeling homesick. Shen Juan then shared his own difficult past. When he was a child, his father ventured into business and never returned, leaving him and his mother to rely on each other.
His mother lived a life of frugality, barely affording his education, and even lied about his father sending money, a truth Shen Juan only learned before university. Shen Juan expressed a strong desire to one day meet his father, return the money, and tell him that he and his mother never needed him, as he could now provide his mother with a good life and ensure she would no longer be bullied or looked down upon.
Shen Juan, having learned about Su Yunjin's family situation from Mo Yuhua, comforted her, saying that despite her father's passing, the love he gave her was enough to cherish for a lifetime. He believed that some obstacles in life must be overcome. Su Yunjin thanked him, but Shen Juan dismissed it, emphasizing her importance to him. Su Yunjin prepared to take leave and go home for her mother’s wedding to Uncle Ding.
Shen Juan and Mo Yuhua accompanied her to the bus station. Su Yunjin declined Shen Juan's offer to accompany her, stating she didn't want to overshadow her mother's special day and needed time to adapt to the new family dynamic. Although Shen Juan worried about her traveling alone and even offered to take time off to go with her, Su Yunjin insisted she could handle it.
Before she boarded the bus, Shen Juan presented her with a new, basic phone, explaining it wasn't expensive and would make it easier to contact her mother, suggesting it was a lucky charm. Meanwhile, Cheng Zheng was frantically searching for Su Yunjin. He first asked a passerby, then cornered Mo Yuhua, who initially tried to hide Su Yunjin's whereabouts. Cheng Zheng, suspecting Su Yunjin might have spent the night with Shen Juan, became insistent.
Mo Yuhua eventually clarified that Su Yunjin had returned to her hometown due to a family matter. Upon arriving home, Su Yunjin found Uncle Ding waiting for her. He warmly greeted her, noting her slight delay and explaining it was due to bad weather affecting the driver's speed. He mentioned her mother asked him to buy food but wasn't sure of Su Yunjin's preferences.
Her mother soon emerged, happy to see her daughter, again noting her slight delay but remarking that it was just in time as she still had two hot dishes to prepare. She suggested Uncle Ding go buy more groceries. Su Yunjin, though feeling a bit uncomfortable around Uncle Ding, said she knew him since childhood and he wasn't a stranger. As they were about to eat, Cheng Zheng unexpectedly appeared at her doorstep.
He introduced himself to Su Yunjin's mother and Uncle Ding as Su Yunjin's friend, much to Su Yunjin's dismay. Despite her attempts to make him leave, Cheng Zheng boldly walked into the courtyard, complimenting the delicious smell of the food, claiming it was more sumptuous than his mother's cooking, and expressing his hunger. Su Yunjin’s mother, welcoming, invited him to join them, and Cheng Zheng quickly made himself at home, serving drinks.
Elsewhere, Zhang Yue reluctantly prepared for a business meeting with Mr. Chen, a client important for future collaborations, and asked Shen Juan to drive her. She inquired about Cheng Zheng, and an assistant mentioned he had extended his leave and was causing trouble. Zhang Yue speculated he was just "fooling around" as a young person. The business dinner concluded successfully, and Zhang Yue expressed her satisfaction with the cooperation.
While Shen Juan drove her home, he inquired about her assistant, Xiao Bei, who stayed behind to discuss further details. Zhang Yue reassured him that Xiao Bei was fine and could handle her liquor. She then asked if the girl she saw at the university was his girlfriend, commenting on her beauty and youth, before realizing that Su Yunjin was Cheng Zheng's high school classmate, which explained her cousin's recent antics.
Back in Su Yunjin’s hometown, a worker urgently called Uncle Ding on the phone, informing him that goods at the construction site had to be moved that night, despite the crew having taken a day off. Manpower was short, and their contractor had seemingly changed, putting pressure on Uncle Ding to lower prices, which he couldn't afford given material costs and worker wages. Cheng Zheng, witnessing this, immediately volunteered to help.
Su Yunjin tried to get him to leave, but Cheng Zheng insisted, arguing that he could drive the truck as Uncle Ding had been drinking, and boasting his Type A driver's license and experience from his architect father's construction sites. Su Yunjin pointed out that Uncle Ding was likely trying to show his strength to her, and Cheng Zheng's help might be counterproductive. Nevertheless, Cheng Zheng and Uncle Ding went to the site, with Su Yunjin also accompanying them.
Later, back at the house, Su Yunjin's mother welcomed them back, thanked Cheng Zheng, and offered them hot water. Su Yunjin again urged Cheng Zheng to leave due to the late hour, but her mother, concerned for his safety, offered him the sofa for the night. She then went to prepare dessert for them. Later that night, Cheng Zheng woke to find Su Yunjin sitting in the courtyard, drawing paper lanterns.
He spoke quietly, so as not to wake her mother, and commented on how beautiful she looked. Su Yunjin explained that her mother relied on making these exquisite lanterns for income. Surprised by the strenuous effort for little pay, Cheng Zheng offered to buy all the lanterns, but Su Yunjin dismissed his "different values."
He then eagerly asked her to teach him how to make them, but she told him to go to sleep and stop "causing trouble" while she tried to help her mother. Cheng Zheng playfully suggested his presence was "disrupting her mind." He complimented the peaceful night scenery and teased her, saying that while girls raised by rivers are usually gentle, she was only "rough" with him, asking if it was because he was "special" to her.
Su Yunjin, annoyed, threatened to never speak to him again if he continued with such nonsense. Cheng Zheng quickly apologized, promising to stop. Su Yunjin eventually told him to go inside because it was getting cold, to which Cheng Zheng jokingly replied that he was cold too. Still, he stayed outside with her.
He asked her to teach him to make lanterns, and when she refused, he decided to help her by writing riddles for the lanterns, claiming it was a better use of his "brainpower" than manual craft. He wrote a riddle, which Su Yunjin quickly solved, the answer being "I love you very much." Su Yunjin, once again, warned him that if he ever made such jokes again, she would truly stop talking to him.
He hastily apologized, and agreed to stop, before offering to help make two more lanterns before going to bed. Meanwhile, after dropping Zhang Yue at her home, Shen Juan accepted her invitation to come up for coffee, as she customarily drank coffee after alcohol and he owed her a cup. She noted she had a coffee machine. Shen Juan prepared the coffee, adding milk, explaining that he thought it wasn't good to drink black coffee after alcohol.
Zhang Yue found him attentive and asked him to taste it, but Shen Juan politely declined, stating he usually only drank instant coffee, which all tasted the same to him. Zhang Yue mused that while the coffee tasted fine, it would be even better with latte art. As Shen Juan prepared to leave, Zhang Yue, asking him to stay longer, eventually told him to take her car and return the next morning with breakfast for her.
