Cheng Zheng confronted Shen Juan, accusing him of two-timing Su Yunjin and questioning how long he intended to deceive her. Cheng Zheng brought up Shen Juan's entry into Hengkai company and his association with Zhang Yue, implying these were illicit. He asserted that he had not revealed these details to Su Yunjin to spare her pain.

Shen Juan, however, scornfully asked if Cheng Zheng was questioning him as the "young master of Hengkai," suggesting that if not, Cheng Zheng had no right to lecture him. Cheng Zheng denied this, but Shen Juan continued to mock him, calling him childish and stating it was no wonder Su Yunjin avoided him. Shen Juan even claimed that Su Yunjin’s closeness to him was Cheng Zheng’s own doing.

Growing increasingly angry, Cheng Zheng threatened to call Zhang Yue right then to force Shen Juan to clarify his position. Shen Juan refused, criticizing Cheng Zheng’s arrogant belief that any choice not aligning with his desires was either a conspiracy or sheer stupidity. With that, Shen Juan walked away, leaving Cheng Zheng to angrily declare that Su Yunjin was his. Despite the severe flu outbreak, Zhou Ziyi persistently tried to win Meng Jia's affection.

He visited her at the hospital, bringing an assortment of desserts from different shops. He explained that he had to cleverly obtain an access card from his school, which was under strict lockdown due to the flu, and planned to visit her every other day. Meng Jia, however, urged him to return to school, citing the serious flu situation.

Zhou Ziyi, taking this as a sign of care, was quickly corrected by Meng Jia, who insisted it was merely a professional courtesy from a medical worker. Later, Zhou Ziyi spotted Meng Jia with Dr. Hu, a respected and accomplished doctor from their hospital and the youngest member of the influenza team. Meng Jia openly expressed her admiration for Dr. Hu. Zhou Ziyi dismissed her admiration as distinct from love, criticizing her for lacking decorum.

Undeterred, he intentionally went to the hospital to confront Dr. Hu, pretending to be a patient. During their brief exchange, Zhou Ziyi declared Meng Jia was his and warned Dr. Hu to stay away from her. Suddenly, Meng Jia appeared, visibly upset. She told Zhou Ziyi that if he continued to bother her, she would pretend not to know him, despite his repeated declarations of affection.

She accused him of being childish and argued that his efforts didn't obligate her to reciprocate his feelings. Meng Jia then left, her heart clearly set on Dr. Hu, leaving Zhou Ziyi devastated. A distraught Zhou Ziyi sought comfort from Mo Yuhua, who accompanied him as he tried to drink away his sorrows. Mo Yuhua attempted to stop him from drinking excessively, but Zhou Ziyi, increasingly inebriated, insisted on continuing, saying he needed to do so to find happiness.

He then launched into a drunken lament about women, remarking on their peculiar nature—how they ignore those who truly like them but obsess over those who are unattainable. He made sure to clarify to Mo Yuhua that he wasn't talking about her, emphasizing that she was "the best" and "most terrific" to him. Mo Yuhua listened silently, the irony of his words painfully resonating with her own unrequited feelings for him.

As Zhou Ziyi leaned on her shoulder, he expressed that he finally understood her struggles, now that he was experiencing similar heartbreak. In a moment of drunken impulse, he kissed her, then passed out. Mo Yuhua, flustered and shocked, immediately called Cheng Zheng for help. Cheng Zheng, annoyed at having to collect his drunk friend, brought both Zhou Ziyi and Mo Yuhua to his home, noting it was too late for them to return to their respective dorms.

Mo Yuhua appeared unwell, though she attributed it to having a few drinks. Cheng Zheng, however, seemed oblivious to her emotional state and instead pressed her about Su Yunjin. He wanted to know what Su Yunjin saw in Shen Juan, expressing his disdain for Shen Juan and implying Su Yunjin had peculiar tastes.

Mo Yuhua defended Shen Juan, highlighting his many admirable qualities: his role as the Student Organization President, his leadership in numerous school activities and successful competitions, and his decision to voluntarily withdraw from a guaranteed postgraduate position. She explained that Shen Juan possessed a strong drive to excel, and that his self-made achievements provided Su Yunjin with a sense of reassurance and security, making him appear more mature.

Cheng Zheng scoffed at these "achievements," comparing them to simply excelling in high school, and reiterated his opinion that women were strange. Mo Yuhua then excused herself to get a blanket for the unconscious Zhou Ziyi. Alone, Cheng Zheng repeated Zhou Ziyi's earlier complaints about women. When Mo Yuhua returned, Cheng Zheng asked what she liked about Zhou Ziyi, to which she subtly countered by asking what he liked about Su Yunjin.

The next morning, Zhou Ziyi woke up at Cheng Zheng's house, completely disoriented and unable to recall the previous night's events, save for being with Mo Yuhua. He joked about Cheng Zheng "hiding a pretty girl" due to the breakfast he found. Cheng Zheng clarified that Mo Yuhua had bought the breakfast and spent the night in the guest room, while Zhou Ziyi slept on the sofa.

Zhou Ziyi admitted that he often experienced memory blanks when drunk, and dimly remembered dreaming of a kiss. Panicked, he questioned if he had kissed Mo Yuhua, vehemently denying such a possibility and begging Cheng Zheng to investigate. Cheng Zheng refused, playfully stating he was returning to Beijing in two hours to resume his studies, and told Zhou Ziyi to deal with his own "love debts." Later, Su Yunjin walked with Shen Juan on campus.

Shen Juan mentioned the tiring commute between school and work. Su Yunjin, supportive of his career, suggested he consider moving closer to his company to save time and energy. She reassured him that she understood the demands of his work and prioritized his well-being. At the school canteen, as they ate, Shen Juan said he would indeed move if his work became too demanding and asked Su Yunjin to accompany him to the academic affairs office to collect some materials.

At the office, they overheard Zhou Ziyi being severely reprimanded by a teacher, with his father also present. The teacher berated Zhou Ziyi for failing eleven subjects over two semesters, sleeping in class, and, most critically, violating curfew and roaming outside during the flu outbreak, risking a widespread infection. Zhou Ziyi, defiant, argued that no infection had occurred and accused the teacher of prioritizing rules over genuine concern. His father angrily struck him and ordered him to be silent.

Zhou Ziyi’s father then pleaded with the director for leniency, explaining the effort it took for him to get into university. The director demanded a written self-criticism and a clear explanation for his actions. Zhou Ziyi vaguely claimed he was "bored" and had gone to Cheng Zheng's home. His father quickly interjected, trying to portray it as a harmless reunion between close friends. Despite his father's efforts, Zhou Ziyi remained sullen and uncooperative.

His father, frustrated, ordered him to wait outside, but Zhou Ziyi refused, wanting to hear his fate. His father forcibly removed him from the office. Outside, Su Yunjin, having overheard the heated discussion, expressed concern for Zhou Ziyi. He casually dismissed it, saying his father would handle everything. At that moment, Shen Juan received a message and had to leave for a company meeting.

After Shen Juan departed, Zhou Ziyi's father emerged and sternly warned his son to stay on campus, improve his grades, and avoid further trouble, or no one, not even "god," could save him. Zhou Ziyi retorted with bitterness, suggesting his father could easily resolve his problems by donating a building or two to the school, implying that his father's only concern for him was financial, with no genuine emotional investment, as all his affection was reserved for other women.

His father, exasperated, pleaded with Zhou Ziyi to show some understanding, emphasizing his own busy schedule and the burden of constantly cleaning up his son's messes. Zhou Ziyi defiantly declared that his father would always have to come to his aid, as he was his only son, and it was his "fate." His father left, defeated. Su Yunjin then approached Zhou Ziyi, advising him to consider his father's difficulties and reflect on his own attitude.

Zhou Ziyi, still resentful, dismissed her counsel, claiming she couldn't understand because she didn't have a father like his, asserting that his father loved many but not him. Su Yunjin gently shared her own experience of losing her father, warning him that he would regret his words if his father were no longer there. Zhou Ziyi, visibly affected by her words, simply acknowledged them and left for his training.

Meanwhile, Cheng Zheng, determined to win Su Yunjin's affection, was actively seeking ways to distinguish himself. He discovered an Architectural Design Competition, only to learn from a fellow student that it was exclusively for third and fourth-year students, with limited spots (five) reserved for graduating seniors to boost their careers.

Undeterred, Cheng Zheng asked the student, whose department handled registrations, to surreptitiously submit his work among the blind selection, emphasizing that he "must" participate, regardless of whether he was ultimately chosen.
