Xu Zhiheng asked Su Yunjin if she was interested in joining the new structure. Su Yunjin, however, admitted she needed time to think, as she had actually been planning to resign.
Xu Zhiheng, seeing her with a suitcase, asked if her landlord had evicted her. Distraught, Su Yunjin requested to stay in the office for the night, promising to sort out her housing situation the next day. Xu Zhiheng readily agreed, even offering his empty apartment, which Su Yunjin politely declined, preferring to find her own place. He then offered to book a hotel room for her, assuring her the company would cover the expenses.
Despite her protests, Xu Zhiheng insisted, emphasizing the importance of rest for better work. He sent her the hotel address and offered to drive her, but Su Yunjin insisted she could take a taxi herself. As she left, she accidentally bumped into someone and apologized. Later, while walking towards the hotel, she accidentally dropped and broke a potted plant Cheng Zheng had given her. Overwhelmed with emotion, she burst into tears.
Xu Zhiheng, seeing her distress, gently offered to drive her to the hotel. Unbeknownst to them, Cheng Zheng and Zhou Ziyi were nearby and witnessed Xu Zhiheng comforting Su Yunjin and getting her into his car. Misinterpreting the scene, Cheng Zheng grew angry, and despite Zhou Ziyi's plea for clarification, he abruptly left. In the days that followed, Zhou Ziyi couldn't get in touch with Cheng Zheng and called Su Yunjin to ask if she had heard from him. Su Yunjin said she hadn't and offered to check on Cheng Zheng's apartment since she was on leave. Upon finding no one home, she called Cheng Zheng's mother, who informed her that Cheng Zheng had left the country, leaving only a message. Su Yunjin shared this with Zhou Ziyi, who found it impulsive.
Su Yunjin, however, suggested he might just need a distraction, and they should let him be. Three months later, Cheng Zheng was still struggling with his heartbreak, though he tried to appear unaffected. He received a call from Zhou Ziyi, who revealed his father was gravely ill with late-stage cancer, a fact that had been hidden from him for some time.
Zhou Ziyi felt like a terrible son for often making his father angry, despite knowing deep down that his father treated him well. Cheng Zheng quickly arranged to return to China to be by his friend's side, reassuring Zhou Ziyi that he himself was fine and had moved on. Meanwhile, Su Yunjin lived a structured life, busy with work and daily chores.
During a phone call with Mo Yuhua, she described her days as fulfilling, mentioning her company's new name and how she was still working for Mr Xu. She also shared her plans for her day off, indicating a semblance of normalcy. Mo Yuhua, still away, asked if Cheng Zheng had contacted her, to which Su Yunjin replied no, and deflected when asked if she had thought of contacting him.
Mo Yuhua admitted to missing Cheng Zheng sometimes, but more often missing Su Yunjin. After Zhou Ziyi's father passed away, Cheng Zheng offered his support, telling him to reach out if he needed anything. Zhou Ziyi, now taking over his father's company, sat in the office, surrounded by his father's belongings. He looked at their only photo together, realizing it was now his turn to miss his father, whom he had once believed was always there.
He vowed not to let his father down. Both Su Yunjin and Cheng Zheng secretly longed for each other, cherishing memories of their romantic past. They never reached out, letting years pass by. Years later, Cheng Zheng, accompanied by his university friend Xiao Yu, stumbled upon Shen Juyan's coffee shop. Cheng Zheng greeted Shen Juyan, noting it had been a long time.
Shen Juyan, now a coffee shop owner with his own WeChat public account, offered them drinks on the house and encouraged Cheng Zheng to follow his account, which focused on real stories of people living in the city. Cheng Zheng found Shen Juyan's new life quite fulfilling. Xiao Yu complimented Shen Juyan's appearance and the shop's decor, even jokingly asking if Cheng Zheng would mind if she chatted with him, which Cheng Zheng playfully dismissed.
During their conversation, Cheng Zheng remarked that Zhang Yue once dreamed of opening such a cafe, and Shen Juyan had made it a reality. Shen Juyan candidly admitted that his past relationship with Zhang Yue was filled with calculations, hoping for rapid success, and he had mistakenly believed her affection was easily won, ultimately disappointing her. He stated that all he could do now was to manage his business well. Cheng Zheng also learned that Su Yunjin followed Shen Juyan's public account, though Shen Juyan believed she didn't know it was his.
Shen Juyan could see from the backend that she read almost every article. Shen Juyan also recalled that they could have met at Meng Xue's wedding, but an accident prevented it, which he felt might not have been a bad thing. It was revealed that Zhang Jinmeng, Zhang Yue's father, had invested in Shen Juyan, believing he had learned from his past mistakes and would now better utilize his abilities.
At her company, Su Yunjin was informed by her assistant, Lu Lu, that Xu Zhiheng had gotten divorced. Lu Lu, unaware of Su Yunjin's true feelings, even suggested a match between Su Yunjin and Xu Zhiheng, to which Su Yunjin responded with a stern warning against office gossip. Later, while at the hospital with Mo Yuhua for lunch, Su Yunjin shared the news of Xu Zhiheng's divorce.
Mo Yuhua, knowing Su Yunjin still held feelings for someone else, playfully teased her about Xu Zhiheng but then affirmed her understanding of Su Yunjin's unwavering heart. As they walked through the hospital hallway, Su Yunjin and Mo Yuhua unexpectedly encountered Cheng Zheng, who was accompanied by a pregnant woman. Cheng Zheng greeted Mo Yuhua, asking for directions to the ultrasound room, which Mo Yuhua provided. He then led the pregnant woman away. Su Yunjin stood there, stunned and heartbroken.
Mo Yuhua, sensing her distress, asked if she was alright. Su Yunjin, trying to compose herself, asked why no one had informed her of Cheng Zheng's new life. Mo Yuhua simply replied that it was normal, as both of them were no longer young. Su Yunjin, though clearly shaken, tried to dismiss her feelings, refusing Mo Yuhua's offer to stay and talk.
