Su Yunjin had just ended a call from Cheng Zheng when Mo Yuhua called, explaining that Cheng Zheng, anxious, had bothered her. Exasperated, Su Yunjin asked Mo Yuhua to send a message to Cheng Zheng on her behalf. Su Yunjin had already heard from Shen Juan about the incident at the bar, but his version claimed that Cheng Zheng and Zhou Ziyi had deliberately followed him.
Upon receiving Mo Yuhua’s message conveying Su Yunjin’s belief in Shen Juan and her disdain for his disruptive behavior, Cheng Zheng was furious at Shen Juan for distorting the truth. The next day, Zhang Yue dropped her cousin, Cheng Zheng, off at the airport. She warned him to return to school and study, threatening to bring his parents if he caused more trouble.
Cheng Zheng retaliated by accusing her of attracting "troublesome people" and hinting at her involvement with Shen Juan, which she dismissed. He called her mean, promising revenge. As soon as Cheng Zheng left, Zhang Yue called Shen Juan to pick her up. In the car, Zhang Yue asked why Shen Juan hadn’t inquired about her relationship with Cheng Zheng. Shen Juan speculated that he and Cheng Zheng were entirely different types of men.
Zhang Yue smiled, suggesting that sometimes different types of women might be attracted to the same kind of man. Distracted, Shen Juan abruptly braked, apologizing. Zhang Yue brushed it off, expressing that he wasn't a professional driver. She then lamented having spent so much time seeing Cheng Zheng off, expecting to work extra hours. Shen Juan, as he drove her to the company, promised Zhang Yue he would do his best with a major project they were undertaking.
The flu outbreak worsened, with the university town becoming a high-risk area. Su Yunjin’s mother called, worried, offering to send disinfectants and flu medicine. Su Yunjin reassured her that the school was sealed off with strict entry and exit protocols, and daily temperature checks for students. She then took a call from Mo Yuhua, who was at the school gate with preventative medicines.
Mo Yuhua quickly handed Su Yunjin two packs of medicine, explaining that a student with a persistent high fever had been found on campus and she, a medical student, had been called to help due to the special circumstances and high number of patients. Mo Yuhua also asked Su Yunjin to give a pack of medicine to Zhou Ziyi before rushing off to her duties.
Su Yunjin then distributed the medicine to her dorm mates, though one resisted due to the bitter taste. Meanwhile, a dorm mate mentioned that Shen Juan had called, unable to reach Su Yunjin directly, to tell her to be careful as his company had already identified infected individuals. Cheng Zheng, having heard from Zhou Ziyi that Su Yunjin's school was sealed due to the flu, secretly drove to Shanghai.
He called Su Yunjin, insisting she come out as the school was unsafe. When she feigned ignorance, a dorm mate relayed Cheng Zheng's threat to call every dorm room until Su Yunjin appeared. Su Yunjin then obtained a temporary pass by telling a teacher she needed sanitary pads because the campus store was closed and she was on her period. At the gate, she tried to inquire about Cheng Zheng, but the guard directed her to get her temperature checked.
As she passed through, Cheng Zheng appeared, attempting to force her into his car. She resisted, arguing that staying on campus was safer. Cheng Zheng countered that crowded places were the most dangerous and forcibly put her in his car. Despite her protests and screams, he drove her away, asserting he was taking her to a safe place and dismissing her concerns about her two-hour pass validity. At Hengkai company, Zhang Yue successfully concluded a significant project.
In a post-meeting discussion with Shen Juan, she expressed her frustration, as her father had still given credit to others and suggested she learn from them, making her feel her efforts were unappreciated. Shen Juan suggested her father acted for her own good, but she dismissed his words, feeling her father forced her into things she didn’t want to do.
Zhang Yue then invited Shen Juan for a drink, and he suggested they could drink at her home after going back. Cheng Zheng took Su Yunjin to an apartment, carrying her inside. He declared that she would stay there until the flu ended, forbidding her from leaving the room, which had a lock. He mentioned he would be in the adjacent room and would even add another lock to the main door to ensure she couldn’t escape.
Seeing her attempt to use her phone, he snatched it, stating he now had her number. Su Yunjin called her roommate, An Ran, to inform her that she wouldn’t be returning that night and asked her to cover for her with the teacher. An Ran joked that teachers wouldn't check and suggested asking "Senior Shen" to explain to the library teacher.
Su Yunjin quickly clarified that she was not with Shen Juan, and An Ran advised her to stay put until the next day. Su Yunjin agreed to return to school the following morning. Cheng Zheng brought dinner to Su Yunjin, but he seemed unwell, clutching his stomach. Su Yunjin was concerned, but he dismissed it, heading to bed without eating. Su Yunjin, still worried, put the food in the microwave, instructing him to heat it when he felt like eating.
Meanwhile, Shen Juan drove Zhang Yue home. As they shared a drink, Zhang Yue, visibly tipsy, called out to him as he prepared to leave. Later that night, Su Yunjin found Cheng Zheng feverish. She tried to call for an ambulance, but he stopped her, dramatically claiming he was sick and wanted to infect her for being "cruel." Su Yunjin, calling him childish, offered to help him to the sofa.
Cheng Zheng then calmly instructed her to call Zhang Yue to bring medicine and any food she desired, explaining that going to the hospital was more dangerous. He confessed it wasn't the flu but gastroenteritis, caused by not eating while rushing for a flight and catching a cold, which also resulted in fever. He urged her to call, dramatically asking if she wanted him to die there, then requested a glass of hot water.
When Zhang Yue arrived, she complained about Cheng Zheng's unreasonable request for her to bring medicine when Su Yunjin was already there, risking her own health. Cheng Zheng explained he didn’t want Su Yunjin to risk being infected by going out for medicine. Zhang Yue gave him the medicine and bread, telling him to go home and avoid school for a while.
Cheng Zheng insisted he liked staying there due to fewer people, a good environment, and the convenience of family property. Zhang Yue, however, wanted him to return home, citing difficulty explaining his absence. She even suggested both he and Su Yunjin could go back together if they could offer a plausible explanation. Cheng Zheng and Zhang Yue then had a brief argument, resulting in Zhang Yue leaving, declaring she wouldn’t cover for him anymore.
As Su Yunjin prepared to leave, Cheng Zheng dramatically feigned a stomachache, clinging to her and begging for water to prevent her departure. Downstairs, Shen Juan waited for Zhang Yue. He asked about Cheng Zheng, and Zhang Yue reassured him that Cheng Zheng was fine, merely experiencing a relapse of an old stomach condition. She kept silent about Su Yunjin being upstairs.
Shen Juan also suggested Zhang Yue take a day off, but she insisted on working due to staff shortages. He also noted that Zhang Yue never asked about his relationship with Cheng Zheng. Zhang Yue acknowledged it, saying everyone knew Cheng Zheng was her cousin, but Shen Juan shared his observation that she and Cheng Zheng shared a similar confident demeanor, making them seem like family.
Meanwhile, Cheng Zheng confronted Su Yunjin about her new phone, asking if Shen Juan had given it to her and if she would accept anything from him. Su Yunjin retorted that it was none of his business. He then questioned Shen Juan's "busyness" during the flu season, implying he wasn't taking precautions, which Su Yunjin defended as his job.
Cheng Zheng then tried to provoke her by asking if she cared about his relationship with Zhang Yue, to which Su Yunjin indifferently replied it had nothing to do with her. An argument ensued, with Cheng Zheng calling her stupid, and Su Yunjin retorting he was the same.
He then softened, asking if his frequent taunts about her being stupid were why she ignored him, adding that he found her "adorable" when she joked, wishing she would talk to him like that more often. Su Yunjin, seeing Cheng Zheng seemingly recovered, attempted to leave, but he refused to let her. He insisted on driving her, warning her that if she got sick by taking public transport, he wouldn't care for her as she had for him.
He offered to change clothes and threatened to "haunt her every day" if she left. Before they left, Cheng Zheng insisted Su Yunjin wear an "imported" mask, claiming it was of better quality than her own. She took it reluctantly. As they arrived at the school gate, they saw Shen Juan waiting.
Cheng Zheng urged Su Yunjin to get back in the car so he could explain, but she refused, stating she had nothing to hide and would tell the truth, calling Cheng Zheng "too much" again. Shen Juan acknowledged Su Yunjin's presence, remarking she wasn't feverish but cautioning her about the dangers of being out.
He asked if she had been with Cheng Zheng all day, and Su Yunjin confirmed that Cheng Zheng had been very sick and she was at his house. She added that she had wanted to call Shen Juan the previous night. Shen Juan then told her to return to school. Suddenly, Cheng Zheng intervened, ordering them to stop. He accused Su Yunjin of caring for Shen Juan but ignoring him.
He argued that he had taken her away for her safety, questioning Shen Juan's whereabouts during the school lockdown and stating that avoiding crowds was crucial. Shen Juan retorted that Cheng Zheng's very existence was the greatest harm to Su Yunjin. Cheng Zheng then angrily asked Su Yunjin if she was still defending Shen Juan, then told Su Yunjin to go inside and Shen Juan to stay.
Su Yunjin, however, told Shen Juan to leave, assuring him she would handle Cheng Zheng and that his presence only complicated matters. Cheng Zheng then confronted Shen Juan, asking what he wanted, to which Shen Juan replied he should be asking Cheng Zheng the same question.
