My Uncanny Destiny Episode 16 Recap
> My Uncanny Destiny Recap
Ye Zhaonan was asleep when Jinfu exited her room, having apparently just been bitten by her. Liu Xuanming and Yi Yangjun, witnessing Jinfu's departure from Ye Zhaonan's room, felt relieved. Yi Yangjun commented that since Ye Zhaonan and Liu Xuanming had only completed half their wedding ceremony, they were not yet fully husband and wife, and her future remained uncertain. They quietly entered Ye Zhaonan's room, lowering their steps when they saw she was asleep.
Yi Yangjun covered her with a blanket, which irritated Liu Xuanming, who then knocked Yi Yangjun unconscious. Meanwhile, Zhao Jing, Guan, and Feng Lei were guarding a coffin. In the middle of the night, they suddenly heard crying from inside. Terrified, they quickly found a stick and knocked the person inside unconscious. To their surprise, the person was Ke Qianyue.
Ye Zhaonan was very angry at Liu Xuanming for his reckless arrival in Muxi City, fearing his identity would be discovered and put him in danger. However, Liu Xuanming kissed her, immediately soothing her anger. She warned him that Jinfu was a very dangerous person. Liu Xuanming wanted to take her back with him to Xuanyue City, but Ye Zhaonan insisted she could not leave as her mission was not yet complete.
Liu Xuanming sensed she was staying for more than just peace talks and suspected she was there for someone else, specifically Jinfu, whom he had seen her interacting with earlier. Ye Zhaonan became nervous, but Liu Xuanming was simply expressing jealousy. They shared an intimate moment. Afterward, Ye Zhaonan expressed her fear that Liu Xuanming might not forgive her, revealing that her true identity was someone he deeply hated.
Liu Xuanming reassured her, saying that if her actions were for their mutual benefit, minor deception was acceptable, and that a loving heart would ultimately forgive, as their feelings for each other were most important. Just then, Yi Yangjun woke up and interrupted them, reminding them that they were not yet married. Guan, Feng Lei, and Zhao Jing kept Ke Qianyue confined. They realized they needed to return to the mortuary, but none of them wanted to go.
Liu Xuanming and Yi Yangjun ended up sleeping on either side of Ye Zhaonan. Yi Yangjun stated he was staying to keep an eye on Liu Xuanming, fearing he might try to harm Ye Zhaonan. In her sleep, Ye Zhaonan dreamed of her father. She noted that his overconfidence reminded her very much of Liu Xuanming. In the dream, her father boasted about his youthful charm and how women pursued him, which she jokingly compared to animals in a zoo.
Annoyed, he insisted his handsomeness was unparalleled. She reiterated the similarity between his and Liu Xuanming's confidence, which he proudly agreed with. The next morning, Yao Hu arrived looking worn out, seeking Liu Xuanming and Ye Zhaonan. Ye Zhaonan planned to find two servants from Xuanyue City to exchange identities with them so Yao Hu and Liu Xuanming could leave undetected. Zhao Jing located a body that had been decaying for several days for the plan.
Guan and Feng Lei expressed how much they missed their families and longed to return home. Zhao Jing, out of kindness, offered food to Ke Qianyue, but she immediately yelled for help. Ke Qianyue attempted to escape, but Feng Lei and Guan quickly caught her and intended to kill her. Zhao Jing bravely stepped in front of Ke Qianyue, protecting her and preventing them from harming her. This act of heroism caused Ke Qianyue to develop feelings for Zhao Jing.
Ye Zhaonan, currently posing as Sanmei, pressed General Jinfu to arrange a meeting with the Lord of Muxi City, Ye Zhaonan, warning him that she would return to Xuanyue City that day if the meeting did not happen soon. Ye Zhaonan subtly orchestrated a situation where someone mistook her for the Lord in front of Jinfu, highlighting her striking resemblance. Having failed to find the Golden Muxi, Jinfu devised a new strategy.
He suggested to Sanmei that the impersonated Lord Ye Zhaonan should write an abdication edict transferring the throne to him, believing this would be more powerful than finding the Golden Muxi. He confirmed that the real "Ye Zhaonan" (referring to the imposter he intends to use within the General's Palace) was indeed alive and well and located within the General's Palace. Meanwhile, Yun Luo was strolling through the city streets when she encountered a street artist.
The vendor was selling paintings of Liu Xuanming, describing him as the spirit ward of Muxi City. Yun Luo found the image of Liu Xuanming depicted as a monstrous figure quite amusing and purchased one of the paintings. Unbeknownst to Yun Luo, Qian Huirou discovered her presence in the city, placing Yun Luo in a precarious situation. Yun Luo then entered a high-end cloth store.
The owner treated her dismissively, assuming she was too poor to afford anything and suggested she look from outside. Angered by his attitude, Yun Luo promptly bought the entire store. Later, on the street, Yun Luo met Qian Huirou, who bore an exact resemblance to Qi Meng. Qian Huirou introduced herself as Qi Meng's older sister and claimed to be a poor servant. Ye Zhaonan observed that Liu Xuanming's natural demeanor did not fit the role of a servant.
She instructed him on how to properly behave as a servant and gave him the nickname "Dalaohu" (Big Tiger). Yun Luo generously treated Qian Huirou to a meal. Qian Huirou recounted how, after her father's death, her brothers had fought violently over the throne, forcing her to flee. She decided to come to Muxi City after deciding against going to Xuanyue City because Qi Meng had died there.
Qian Huirou commented that Qi Meng's unfortunate end was entirely her own fault. Mentioning she was living in a dilapidated temple in the south of the city, Yun Luo compassionately offered her a place to stay, which Qian Huirou gratefully accepted. Jinfu, speaking with Sanmei (Ye Zhaonan in disguise), remarked on her courage and intelligence, suggesting she should consider taking another significant step forward. He clarified that this step would be to become the Lord of Muxi City, Ye Zhaonan.
