As Ye Zhaonan was found by Tan Rang, she recognized him as an assassin who had previously tried to kill her and demanded to know who sent him. She also realized he was blind. Ye Zhaonan immediately called out for help, shouting about an assassin. Both Liu Xuanming and Yi Yangjun appeared and came to her rescue. Liu Xuanming recognized Tan Rang as the one who had attempted to assassinate him earlier and ordered his men to capture him.

Upon hearing about the assassin, Yun Luo became very worried about Tan Rang. She rushed to the scene and told Tan Rang to take her hostage so he could escape. After Yun Luo was taken hostage by Tan Rang, Liu Xuanming was extremely concerned for her safety. Ye Zhaonan, however, remained calm. She reasoned that Yun Luo was too smart to run towards the assassin without reason, suggesting it was highly likely that Yun Luo knew Tan Rang.

Liu Xuanming, however, was too worried to listen. Qi Meng stood by, adding fuel to the fire, which prompted Ye Zhaonan to order her back to her bedchamber. Qi Meng, pretending to be wronged, held onto Liu Xuanming's arm, and he sided with her. Furious, Qi Meng slapped her maid twice and resolved to kill Ye Zhaonan. Liu Xuanming later apologized to Ye Zhaonan, admitting she was right and that Yun Luo must know the assassin.

Yun Luo was injured while protecting Tan Rang. When Tan Rang noticed her injury, he wanted to take her to the Imperial Hospital, but she refused, fearing he would be captured. They held each other closely. Tan Rang eventually returned Yun Luo but was himself captured. After Yun Luo woke up, she refused to take her medicine and repeatedly declared that she hated Liu Xuanming, specifically because he would not let her marry Tan Rang.

She insisted that she wanted to marry Tan Rang, but Liu Xuanming was unwilling to let her marry him. Liu Xuanming was frustrated by this. Ye Zhaonan suggested that a naive princess could not possibly fool the world's best assassin multiple times. Perhaps, she theorized, the assassin had fallen deeply in love with the princess the moment he first saw her, willingly allowing himself to be fooled despite having many chances to escape.

Liu Xuanming still found it hard to accept; Tan Rang was an assassin who tried to kill him, so how could he let his sister marry him? But Ye Zhaonan emphasized that what mattered most was that Yun Luo and Tan Rang loved each other. She then asked Liu Xuanming if he would still love her if he one day discovered that she was not Guan Sanmei, but someone else, or even the person he hated most, Ye Zhaonan.

Liu Xuanming remained silent, and Ye Zhaonan understood his answer. Ye Zhaonan quietly left. Qi Meng was delighted upon hearing this news and secretly dispatched assassins to kill her. However, Ye Zhaonan was saved by Liu Xuanming. Ye Zhaonan, having drunk too much, told Liu Xuanming to figure out who he truly loved before coming to find her.

Liu Xuanming immediately embraced her, declaring that he had always loved her, regardless of who she was – whether she was Sanmei, or anyone else, even Ye Zhaonan. Yi Yangjun discovered that Qi Meng had sent people to kill Ye Zhaonan and was angry. He warned her never to harm Ye Zhaonan again and told her to obediently wait for her wedding to Liu Xuanming, implying he would protect Ye Zhaonan.

Zhilan confessed her identity as the divorced wife of the Muxi City Lord to Zhao Jing. To help her vent her frustration, Zhao Jing captured the Commanderial Prince, allowing Zhilan to hit him repeatedly. Ultimately, Zhilan decided that after attending "Big Sister's" wedding (referring to Ye Zhaonan), she would return to Muxi City to live her own life as Jin Zhilan. Liu Xuanming released Tan Rang to see Yun Luo, and only then did she agree to take her medicine.

Old Guan and two other men confronted Ye Zhaonan, questioning whether she had truly fallen for Liu Xuanming. Ye Zhaonan hinted that she knew their secret and was not who they thought she was, causing one of them, Feng Lei, to panic. Feng Lei pulled out a dagger, intending to kill her to keep their secret, but Ye Zhaonan quickly turned the tables and killed him instead.

Afterward, the remaining two confessed their true purpose: they were Muxi City soldiers sent five years ago as spies into the palace, forced into service because Feng Lei's mother and Old Guan's daughter were being held by General Jinfu. Ye Zhaonan told them she had a relative who was close to Ye Zhaonan, the Lord of Muxi City, and could help them secure their families' release by writing a letter to General Jinfu.

Zhao Jing, who was present, was curious about Ye Zhaonan's true identity, but she replied that she was Guan Sanmei, not revealing her full identity at that time. Liu Xuanming still did not approve of Tan Rang and Yun Luo's love, telling Tan Rang that their love was temporary and he should leave once Yun Luo grew tired of him. Despite this, Tan Rang expressed his gratitude for being allowed to see Yun Luo and was asked by Liu Xuanming to reveal who had ordered his assassination.
