Gu Changfeng took Qiao Yan to choose clothes for the upcoming signing ceremony between Gu's Group and He's Group. However, Qiao Yan was not in the mood, burdened by thoughts of Gu Jingyuan's impending engagement. While shopping, someone suggested she call Gu Jingyuan to ask about the engagement, accusing him of "two-timing" and being a "scumbag." Qiao Yan clarified that she wasn't worried about his loyalty, as she knew he wouldn't truly get engaged.
Instead, she feared he might resort to self-harm to resolve the issue, and that her grandfather would become even angrier. She stressed that the recent improvement in her grandfather's relationship with Gu Jingyuan couldn't be jeopardized because of her, and she declared her willingness to be "the bad guy." At the signing ceremony, after the strategic cooperation agreement between Gu's Group and He's Group was officially signed, He Yue and Gu Jingyuan made their entrance.
Just as He Yue's father began to announce their engagement, He Yue dramatically interrupted, publicly declaring that she would not marry Gu Jingyuan and that the engagement was canceled. She firmly stated that the He's Group and Gu's Group would absolutely "never form an alliance through marriage." This unexpected turn surprised Qiao Yan. Later, Gu Changfeng complained to Xu about Gu Jingyuan's "arrogance," but Xu remarked that Gu Jingyuan's words "made sense." Shortly after, Qiao Yan arrived with a freshly made soup.
