Qiao Yan accompanied Qin Ziyu, who had too much to drink, and bought him breakfast (wontons). Having stayed out all night, Qiao Yan returned home to a worried Gu Jingyuan, who had waited up for her. He asked her where she had been, and though she lied about staying at a friend's, Gu Jingyuan pressed her, citing his concern as her uncle who had promised her father to keep her safe.
Qiao Yan, after a sarcastic thank you, retorted that she was no longer a child and didn't need an elder's excessive concern. Meanwhile, Qin Ziyu had checked into the Will Hotel to avoid his company. He arranged to meet Qiao Yan there, intending to return a painting that had belonged to her mother. Lu Wanqing, however, discovered their messages and secretly forwarded the information to Gu Jingyuan, who immediately rushed to the Will Hotel.
At the hotel, Qiao Yan declined to take the painting, explaining that her connection with her mother was not dependent on a material object and that her mother's art should circulate freely in the market. Qin Ziyu shared his decision to go abroad to manage his finances, vowing to leave his aimless past behind and reclaim Qin's company. As Qiao Yan exited the room, Qin Ziyu embraced her, expressing a desire to tell her something important.
This emotional moment was witnessed by Gu Jingyuan, who called out Qiao Yan's name before forcefully pushing Qin Ziyu away. Qin Ziyu tried to explain that it was a misunderstanding, but Gu Jingyuan ignored him, angrily accusing Qiao Yan of being childish and betraying her parents' memory by associating with Qin Ziyu. Gu Jingyuan then pulled Qiao Yan away. Qiao Yan struggled, feeling Gu Jingyuan was behaving irrationally.
She declared that her personal relationships were none of his business, even suggesting Qin Ziyu was a good prospect, and that they should each go their separate ways and marry others, cutting ties completely. Enraged by her words, Gu Jingyuan kissed her passionately, confessing that he no longer wanted to be her "Uncle." They continued to kiss, unaware that Lu Wanqing was watching from below.
Lu Wanqing returned to her company office, heartbroken and in tears, having seen Gu Jingyuan kiss Qiao Yan. She lamented, "Why Qiao Yan?" and felt abandoned by her "Ah Yuan ge ge." That evening, Gu Jingyuan and Qiao Yan arrived home. Knowing they needed to act as if nothing had happened, they both decided to take another stroll around the house. During their walk, they reflected on their first meeting, feeling like a newly in-love couple.
Gu Jingyuan joked about how he initially saw her as an enemy, a "poor little cat with sharp claws." They also playfully discussed when they each realized their feelings. They were then caught by Moon Sister, who saw their intimate actions. Gu Jingyuan quickly explained it was because sand had gotten into his eye, and Qiao Yan was helping him blow it out. Moon Sister playfully suggested that Qiao Yan had brought a boyfriend home.
Back home, Gu Jingyuan went into Qiao Yan's room, where they were being affectionate. Qiao Yan's Grandpa (Gu Changfeng) came to bring her fruit, but she took a while to open the locked door, making him anxious. Qiao Yan had wanted Gu Jingyuan to hide, but finding no suitable spot, they pretended to be listening to music together before she opened the door.
Grandpa, seeing them together, felt it was highly improper for an uncle to be in his niece's room at night, especially with the door locked, and worried about what others would say. After giving Qiao Yan the fruit and telling her to rest early, he implicitly told Gu Jingyuan it was time to leave. Gu Jingyuan reluctantly left Qiao Yan's room. Later that night, Gu Jingyuan secretly slipped back into Qiao Yan's room, and they lay together in her bed.
The next day, Gu Jingyuan proactively approached his father (Qiao Yan's Grandpa), Gu Changfeng, declaring his intention to permanently relinquish his shares in Gu's company solely to be with the person he loved. His father was furious. Gu Jingyuan confessed his love for Qiao Yan, pleading with his father not to take her away. However, Gu Changfeng worried that once their relationship was publicly exposed, it would bring immense harm to Qiao Yan due to uncontrollable public opinion.
He then informed Gu Jingyuan that the signing ceremony with the He family was scheduled for the next day, and he would announce Gu Jingyuan's engagement to He Yue at the event.
