Xiao Ke confronted Fang Er, accusing her of colluding with outsiders to deceive him by meeting with Chong Liming. A Yi reassured him, reminding him that they had overcome many hardships together since childhood and survived by relying on each other. Chong Liming and Yuchu visited Da Chun in his cell, trying to persuade him to reveal other Green Dragon Society hideouts. Da Chun only knew that Xiankeju, a restaurant, was a Green Dragon Society property but was unaware of any other locations, remarking that a restaurant was not a suitable hiding place. At the county office, Wen Gou obtained the keys to the arsenal from Wang Yongfu, the armory manager. He inspected the weapons, finding only about a dozen usable, rusty guns among the thirty firearms. He ordered them to be cleaned and distributed to the soldiers within fifteen minutes. At this point, Qian Kun delivered an urgent message to Chong Liming: the New Army would arrive in Nanan County by dawn.

Recognizing the urgency, Chong Liming quickly gave new orders: Wen Gou was to take his men to Xiankeju to search for Xiao Ke. If they found nothing, he was to question the manager about other Green Dragon Society businesses. Surprised he could breach the security, Mary was then pressured by Xiao Ke to hand over the other half of their agreed payment, as he intended to flee immediately after the operation. Mary complied. Xiao Ke then instructed Mary to lure Wagner and Si San away so he could escape. Mary agreed, claiming she needed to go to the county office to see Chong Liming. Wagner and Si San reluctantly escorted her there, allowing Xiao Ke to slip away.

Meanwhile, Yuchu and Cao county order searched Qinglong Hall for the account books. After searching several rooms, they finally located the Green Dragon Society's ledgers. At Xiankeju, Wen Gou questioned the restaurant manager, who claimed Xiao Ke had not visited for a long time and denied knowing anything about other Green Dragon Society properties, despite Wen Gou's persistent interrogation. Back at the county office, Wen Gou reported his lack of findings to Chong Liming.

Can Yan Xin suddenly realized that the person he saw talking to Wang Yongfu earlier resembled Jian Kui and rushed off to find Wang Yongfu. Just then, Wagner returned with Mary, and Chong Liming arranged accommodation for her. Meanwhile, Xiao Ke, having safely escaped from the railway company, evaded soldiers until he was cornered by Wang Yongfu. Guessing that Xiao Ke's box contained money, Wang Yongfu tried to extort him, offering important information for a higher price.

Xiao Ke revealed a box of gold bars, and Wang Yongfu, upon seeing them, disclosed that Yuchu and Cao county order were investigating the Green Dragon Society’s account books. Satisfied with a gold bar, Wang Yongfu turned to leave, only to be fatally stabbed in the back by Xiao Ke. Xiao Ke returned to his hideout, sending Hei Tou with two men to Qinglong Hall to eliminate Yuchu and Cao county order.

He also dispatched Jian Kui to Liu Juren's residence to borrow his local militia forces for weapons. Upon entering, Xiao Ke was confronted by Fang Er. She had discovered his hidden British pounds and now saw his new box of gold bars. Fang Er insisted they go to Chong Liming and confess, but Xiao Ke adamantly refused. Their argument escalated into a violent struggle, with Xiao Ke eventually grabbing Fang Er by the throat.
