Sinopsis
In the 1920s Shanghai, a city carved up by foreign powers and torn by warlord conflicts.
Minhang District commoner Wu Qian joins a foreigners' gambling tournament to win prize money for his sworn brother Wei Chengfeng's ailing grandmother. There he meets the righteous and patriotic He Hongyi.
Failing to secure the prize, Wu Qian gets entangled in disputes between foreigners and warlords.
Inspired by He Hongyi, his patriotic fervor ignites as he resolves to save Shanghai from turmoil. He and his friends resist foreign oppression and warlord atrocities through courageous struggle.
However, Wei Chengfeng eventually parts ways with Wu Qian due to political differences and emotional conflicts. Despite being besieged by multiple forces, Wu Qian makes a desperate stand, ultimately exposing the warlords' conspiracy and crimes to the world. Yet the chaotic times prevent him from uniting with He Hongyi.
Disappearing from public view, Wu Qian later dedicates himself to even more earth-shaking revolutionary endeavors.
