Following the premiere of his new drama, You Xi and his friends gathered in the school security room to watch it together. As You Xi and Pan Duo playfully bickered over their performances, a sudden power outage forced everyone to leave. The next day in the cafeteria, You Xi's assistant, Yao Yao, eagerly informed him that his acting had received unanimous praise online, increasing his follower count by 50,000. You Xi, however, appeared unimpressed.
Moments later, Pan Duo excitedly announced that her own followers had skyrocketed by 200,000. Visibly annoyed, You Xi questioned how Pan Duo, a newcomer, could gain four times as many fans as him. Yao Yao soothed his frustration by explaining that Pan Duo's smaller initial fan base allowed for greater growth, while You Xi's established career meant his numbers were more stable.
Later, You Xi's manager, Zhu Da Zhuang, called to confirm the drama's immense popularity and the flood of collaboration offers. Meanwhile, Yin Jiu met with actor Song Qie Ge at a cafe, revealing his personal agenda: he wanted Song Qie Ge to defeat You Xi for the lead role in Director Wei Ran's new drama, "Zhong Fu." Their meeting was interrupted by the arrival of You Xi and Yao Yao.
A verbal sparring match quickly erupted between You Xi and Song Qie Ge over the coveted role. Back in his dorm, You Xi misunderstood a video call, thinking Wen Moxuan was speaking with Yao Yao, only to snatch the phone and discover it was Wen Moxuan's star-struck twin sister, leading to an awkward moment. After class, Yin Jiu, serving as an assistant teacher, taunted You Xi, calling him an illiterate who was incompatible with the well-read Yao Yao.
To fuel You Xi's insecurity, Yin Jiu falsely claimed that Wen Moxuan had invited Yao Yao to the library that evening. Provoked, You Xi saw Yao Yao with two cups of milk tea and confronted her, accusing her of having a date with Wen Moxuan. Yao Yao clarified that the drinks were for a university Cultural Fair she was helping to organize. Disturbed by Yin Jiu's words, You Xi sought advice from his friend, Qi Chao.
After brainstorming several ineffective strategies, Qi Chao suggested the ultimate solution: a direct confession. As You Xi hesitated, school security guards caught them loitering on the sports field at night and escorted them to the security office. There, the guard requested their signatures. Seeing an opportunity for mischief, You Xi signed Yin Jiu and Tong Jin's names instead of his and Qi Chao's.
Disapproving of the prank, Yao Yao later returned to the security room to replace Yin Jiu's name with her own. However, the guard mistakenly replaced Tong Jin's name instead. Consequently, a school-wide bulletin publicly reprimanded Yin Jiu and Yuchi Yao Yao for "loitering on the sports field at night multiple times." The notice sparked widespread misunderstanding. Tong Jin angrily confronted Yin Jiu, accusing him of rekindling a past romance with Yao Yao, a claim he vehemently denied.
Simultaneously, Yao Yao's father, Yuchi Lin Sen, misinterpreted the notice as a sign of his daughter's blossoming love life, much to Yao Yao's mortification. Determined to confess, You Xi invited Yao Yao to the school music hall. He arrived to find the venue occupied and quickly relocated their meeting to a small classroom, which he hastily decorated with a borrowed lamp. You Xi serenaded Yao Yao with a song, moving her deeply.
Just as he was about to confess his feelings, his manager, Zhu Da Zhuang, called, reminding him of a crucial investors' banquet for "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms" that evening. Without explaining, You Xi handed Yao Yao a pre-prepared dress and insisted she accompany him. Yao Yao, feeling awkward in the elegant gown but refusing You Xi's demand to remove her personal necklace, arrived with him at the venue.
Zhu Da Zhuang initially tried to turn her away, but You Xi firmly stated she was his guest. They soon discovered the event was not a banquet but a lavish birthday party for Tong Jin, whose father was the main investor in You Xi's drama. You Xi wanted to leave immediately, but Zhu Da Zhuang persuaded him to stay to avoid offending the investor. The tension escalated when Tong Jin condescendingly treated Yao Yao like hired help.
You Xi left Yao Yao alone to greet important figures, including the investor Dan, who made it clear her investment was contingent on his participation. Seizing the opportunity, Yin Jiu approached Yao Yao, taunting her about her agoraphobia. He insinuated she was in a secret relationship with You Xi and pointed out that You Xi, despite being across the room, was watching them, a deliberate act to provoke him.
Observing this interaction, Tong Jin, during her birthday speech, deceptively thanked Yao Yao for her support. Aware of Yao Yao's fear of crowds, Tong Jin maliciously invited her onto the stage, leaving Yao Yao flustered and overwhelmed in the spotlight.
