Following up on his decision to help Yao Yao confront her ex-boyfriend, Yin Jiu, and his new girlfriend, Tong Jin, You Xi wraps his arm around Yao Yao and declares that they have been together for a long time. Tong Jin mocks Yao Yao as a mere "extra" and You Xi as an "upstart," infuriating him.
Later, Yao Yao is angry with You Xi for meddling, but he explains he was simply helping her dump Yin Jiu before Yin Jiu could dump her. When she tries to get physical, You Xi dodges her, stating he never hits women, especially in public. Afterward, You Xi discovers rumors about him and his co-star, Zheng Jia'er, are spreading on Weibo, sparked by a single promotional still from their drama.
He is particularly frustrated that Zheng Jia'er liked the post, making it harder for him to clear his name. Meanwhile, Yao Yao recalls Yin Jiu's insensitive words about finding true love with Tong Jin and becomes enraged. Vowing to fight back against the online slander targeting You Xi, she gets his approval and begins posting fiery replies to the negative comments.
The situation escalates when Yin Jiu texts Yao Yao, asking her to delay telling her father, Professor Yuchi, about their breakup until after his thesis defense to protect his grades. This fuels her anger, and she continues her aggressive online campaign. Concerned about Yao Yao's recent erratic behavior—such as giving him soda with his medicine and a suit instead of pajamas—You Xi calls his manager, Da Zhuang, worried she is taking out her post-breakup anger on him.
He then calls Yao Yao, but a sudden scream on her end makes him panic, thinking she is attempting self-harm over her "garbage boyfriend." In reality, a fire has just broken out in her apartment due to faulty wiring. You Xi rushes over and brings her to his house for safety, asking her to be discreet as he has never had an overnight guest before. The next morning, You Xi is woken by the sound of a vacuum.
Yao Yao is already cleaning and has created an extensive study schedule for him, taping it to the wall to ensure he stays focused. Annoyed, You Xi tries to ignore it, but she follows him everywhere, reminding him of his study times. He only gets a chance to play video games when she briefly leaves the house. Later, during a heavy rainstorm, Yao Yao returns, drenched.
As You Xi gives her a towel and some of his clothes, they both slip on the wet floor, and she falls into his arms, creating an awkward moment. The rain reminds Yao Yao of the day she met Yin Jiu, and she becomes sad. You Xi offers to be her confidant but realizes it is not a sustainable solution. To distract her and get some peace for himself, he enrolls her in a driving school.
However, her first day is a disaster; she accidentally injures all three of her instructors. The furious school director threatens to call the police and demands compensation, but You Xi turns the tables, accusing the school of negligence for leaving a student unattended. He declares they are voluntarily withdrawing and agrees to cover the medical expenses before pulling Yao Yao away.
You Xi then decides to teach her himself, using his own body as a marker to guide her while reversing. Unfortunately, Yao Yao confuses the accelerator with the brake and hits him, sending him to the hospital for the second time. His manager, Da Zhuang, arrives and tries to fire Yao Yao, but You Xi defends her, simply asking her to bring him some porridge. Back at his home, Yao Yao helps the injured You Xi to his room.
She initially closes her eyes, respecting his strict rule about no one entering his private space. After she helps him to bed, he tells her she no longer needs to cover her eyes when entering. She realizes his rules are not just about his germaphobia but stem from a deep need for personal space in a life where he has little control. He quietly confirms her insight and asks her to leave.
Soon after, Assistant Director Chen and Producer Cai visit You Xi, bringing a reporter to pressure him about returning to work and to address rumors of him "playing the big shot." You Xi counters that his "original aspiration" is to produce good work, and the current script is full of "literary mistakes." He insists that filming must be halted for revisions and surprisingly suggests that Yao Yao can help compile the necessary notes.
Later, You Xi learns the real reason Da Zhuang is rushing him back to work: a newcomer named Pan Duo has been cast as the second female lead. Yao Yao discovers Pan Duo is from SG Entertainment and is personally managed by Da Zhuang. Intrigued, You Xi decides to see what makes her so special. On his first day back on set, Zheng Jia'er gives You Xi lilies, feigning ignorance of his allergy.
Annoyed by her publicity stunts, he tells her to go to makeup and has Yao Yao take the flowers away. Pan Duo approaches You Xi to rehearse lines, but he rudely dismisses her. Despite this, their first scene together is a surprising success. Later, Da Zhuang visits the set and reveals that Pan Duo is his niece, leaving You Xi visibly bothered.
Da Zhuang also confirms that the stunt wires from You Xi's accident were indeed tampered with and that the suspicious crew member Yao Yao saw has since disappeared. You Xi immediately suspects his rival, Song Qie Ge, pointing to their long history of competition. Da Zhuang then explains to Yao Yao the root of their animosity. You Xi, Song Qie Ge, and another trainee, Cai Xun Wei, were once close friends.
However, Song Qie Ge sabotaged Cai Xun Wei during a crucial audition, effectively ending his career. Song Qie Ge used the role to become a top star at SG Entertainment. A year later, You Xi joined the same company, quickly surpassed him, and used his newfound influence to have Song Qie Ge expelled.
