Feng Muchen agreed to let Wange and Ning Yuan stay for a month without charge, provided Wange fulfilled one condition. Wange learned of Feng Muchen's plan to attend Lu Wanqing's birthday party, and mocked him for still thinking of pursuing Lu Wanqing despite being married to her. She also knew that Chen Ye would also be there, and she believed that a development in their relationship would help push the plot forward, seeing herself as an assist in their romance.
She picked an outfit carefully, wanting to look good, but not to overshadow the heroine. Wange wanted to facilitate the relationship between Chen Ye and Lu Wanqing, believing that compliments from the same gender and physical contact could foster closeness. At the birthday party, Wange approached Lu Wanqing, showering her with compliments about her beauty and dress. Lu Wanqing was overwhelmed by Wange's excessive praise. Wange also pretended to be friendly with Lu Wanqing's father.
When Chen Ye arrived, Wange observed him, noting he embodied the presence of a leading actor. Later, as she continued to push Lu Wanqing and Chen Ye together, Lu Wanqing's mother commented that Chen Ye would be a good match for her daughter. Lu Wanqing, however, expressed frustration, asking Wange why she kept meddling in her life despite being with Feng Muchen. One of Lu Wanqing's friends, annoyed by Wange always "stealing" things from Lu Wanqing, plotted to embarrass her.
She secretly drugged Wange's drink, then instructed a heavily intoxicated Chengji to assist a "drunk girl" outside, intending to damage Wange's reputation by photographing them together. Wange, unaware, consumed the drink and noted its potency. Meanwhile, Feng Muchen was discussing business with Lu Wanqing's father when he received a call from the Ye patriarch, who asked to speak with Wange and scolded him for letting her out of his sight. Feng Muchen began searching for Wange.
The friend who drugged Wange slyly informed him that Wange had gone into a room with one of Lu Wanqing's male friends. Feng Muchen entered the room and found Chengji drunkenly bothering Wange, asking her to sing. Wange, disoriented, recognized Feng Muchen. Feng Muchen intervened, scolding Chengji for being so drunk and forcing him out of the room. He then picked Wange up and insisted on taking her home.
Upon arriving home, Ning Yuan checked on Wange, who wanted to go back to her "real" home, not the Ye family. Ning Yuan promised to investigate the birthday party incident. Feng Muchen gave Wange hot milk. Wange took a bath and accidentally twisted her back. Feng Muchen heard the noise and went to help her, but was pulled into the bathtub. Seeing she was injured, he carried her back to the bed.
Yun Yi and Ms. Zhang were eavesdropping, commenting on the unfolding romance. Feng Muchen told them to get back to work. Later, Feng Muchen brought Wange some pain-relieving patches. He also changed the bath water for her and provided bubble bath and flowers.
