Yummy Yummy Yummy Episode 4 Recap
> Yummy Yummy Yummy Recap
The Shen family was finally released from the woodshed. Li Fengxia gathered her family to analyze why their attempts to travel back to their own time had failed. Shen Shaojie declared that their misfortunes were all caused by Shen Shaoguang, as their experiences closely resembled a script she had written. Following the script's premise, they resolved to gain Lin Yan's trust to progress the plot and eventually return home.
That night, Shen Shaoguang went to the kitchen to prepare a meal for Lin Yan, only to encounter him climbing down from a wall, clad in black. Despite his poor disguise, she immediately greeted him. Lin Yan, however, mistakenly believed she was an envoy sent by his enemies to harm him and demanded she lead him to her master.
Shen Shaoguang, thinking he knew she was from the modern era and wanted to return with them, led to a comical misunderstanding where neither grasped the other's meaning. Ultimately, she agreed to take him back with them, provided they found a way to return. The next day, the Shen family was distressed to learn that their "ancestor" wished to travel back with them.
They worried about how they would support him in their own time and even fantasized about finding a way to return first and then leaving him behind. Meanwhile, Liu Chang and Lin Yan discussed why the Shen family's "master" would send such an inept group to infiltrate their household. Lin Yan decided to re-examine some old case files and instructed Liu Chang to "handle" the Shen family. Liu Chang misinterpreted this command.
That night, Liu Chang drugged the Shen family and began digging a large pit, muttering that he had never killed anyone and couldn't believe he was ordered to do such a thing. Shen Shaoguang awakened to find Liu Chang digging. Remembering tactics from TV dramas, she tried to knock him out by hitting the back of his head, but he remained conscious. She then picked up a stone and struck him forcefully, knocking him unconscious.
Later that night, Lin Yan, who had been out to investigate the Cui case files, was spotted by patrolmen during curfew and rushed back to Yunshui Manor, pursued by guards. Upon his return, he found the Shen family and Liu Chang unconscious, with only Shen Shaoguang awake. Before he could speak, the patrolmen arrived at the gate. Shen Shaoguang quickly grabbed Lin Yan's cloak, impersonated him, and stepped outside.
She explained to the patrolmen that she had been overcome by hunger and had rushed out to buy food. Lin Yan, emerging with money, sincerely apologized to the soldiers, who then let her go. Having saved Lin Yan from arrest, Shen Shaoguang furiously confronted him about his intention to kill her family. She asserted that her family had no desire to harm him and were only trying to find a way back home.
She reminded him that they had even agreed to take him with them, expressing her outrage that he would plot their murder. Lin Yan, unable to defend himself, woke Liu Chang. Liu Chang explained that Lin Yan had gazed into the distance and said to "bury everything here," which he took literally. Lin Yan realized his mistake, clarifying that he meant to bury "the matter," not "the family."
After the misunderstanding was cleared, Lin Yan returned to his room to find a table laden with a lavish meal. Both Lin Yan and Liu Chang offered sincere apologies to the Shen family, with Liu Chang even kowtowing in penitence. Li Fengxia assured them that their family's only desire was to stay there temporarily and that they had no other intentions.
Afterwards, Lin Yan offered to help wash the dishes, a gesture Shen Shaojie found horrifying, unwilling to "shorten his lifespan" by letting his ancestor do chores. Shen Shaoguang offered Lin Yan a local snack, rice tofu, telling him she was being incredibly generous despite almost being buried alive. The rice tofu evoked warm memories for Lin Yan, reminding him of his mother's cooking.
The next day, Prince Zhao played a board game with his son, remarking on Lin Yan and inadvertently making his son jealous, who quipped that anyone unaware would think Lin Yan was the Prince's biological son. Meanwhile, Prince Zhao had contacted Lin Yan, instructing him to get close to Princess Fuhui to gather information on court affairs.
Princess Fuhui's consort had fallen from a cliff and been in a coma for over ten years; she was known for cultivating relationships with many court officials and publicly expressed concern for the court's stability. Lin Yan recalled that years ago, it was Prince Zhao who had saved him and Liu Chang after they fled the Cui family tragedy. Feeling indebted, he resolved to continue his investigation without involving the Prince, not wanting to implicate his benefactor.
Having gained Lin Yan's trust, Liu Chang no longer viewed the Shen family with suspicion. Separately, the Shen family decided to leverage their modern culinary skills to earn more gold, hoping to take it back to their own era for a better life. They planned to continue making popular snacks like Jianbingguozi.
