Following his confrontation with company executives, You Xi is forced to choose between accepting an unwanted new acting role and replacing his assistant, Yao Yao. To ensure Yao Yao can remain by his side, You Xi reluctantly agrees to take on the new role in a drama called "Founding of the Three Kingdoms." After signing the contract, he is dismayed to discover it requires him to attend a 10-day exclusive training course on the history of the period.
You Xi complains bitterly about returning to student life, having to wake early for classes, and staying in a dorm. Yao Yao, however, sees the training as a valuable opportunity to help him better interpret his character, noting that it will even take place at their university. As You Xi is still processing the news, Pan Duo arrives at his home, excitedly announcing it is her idol Qi Chao's birthday.
Zhu Da Zhuang also appears, and together they pressure You Xi to cook a grand birthday meal for Qi Chao as their gift. Despite You Xi's initial resistance and frustration over his friends' lack of assistance, he ultimately prepares a feast, even getting blisters on his hands. Qi Chao, however, shows little excitement or appreciation for the meal. After dinner, the group begins a game of Mahjong. You Xi consistently loses, while Pan Duo continues to dote on Qi Chao.
Annoyed, Qi Chao eventually leaves the game, citing bad feng shui. You Xi then has Yao Yao take Qi Chao's place. Although Yao Yao admits she has never played, she quickly picks up the game and begins winning repeatedly, even achieving a "self-drawn all one suit." You Xi grows increasingly frustrated, complaining that Yao Yao isn't letting him win like Pan Duo does for Qi Chao.
Yao Yao counters that Mahjong is a competition that requires fair play, and that it is more shameful to be unskilled and resort to trickery than to simply lose. Exasperated by her continuous wins, You Xi abruptly ends the game and sends everyone home. Later that evening, You Xi watches Yao Yao diligently practice a simulated class presentation. She confides that her dream is to become a teacher, despite her agoraphobia, and she practices daily to overcome her fears.
Remembering her aspiration, You Xi calls Zhu Da Zhuang and asks him to arrange a teaching assistant position for Yao Yao with the drama crew. Zhu Da Zhuang explains he cannot directly appoint her, but mentions that the crew is holding auditions for current students at Jiangzhou University. The next day, You Xi insists on accompanying Yao Yao to the audition signup. Reassuring him that she will work hard for his sake, Yao Yao successfully passes the preliminary round.
Later, they encounter Duan Fei Fei, another competitor, who coldly suggests Yao Yao shouldn't celebrate too soon, hinting at a much tougher final round. Duan Fei Fei is a well-known postdoctoral researcher from the university's history department, but You Xi dismisses her challenge and encourages Yao Yao to win. Soon after, Pan Duo abruptly appears and takes Yao Yao away to visit Qi Chao at a recording studio. They discover Qi Chao's scheduled backup singer is absent.
Pan Duo eagerly volunteers, but her performance is disastrous, and she accidentally breaks Qi Chao's favorite microphone. Pan Duo is distraught, and her spirits are further dampened when a text message from Qi Chao leaves her upset. Yao Yao returns home very late that night. You Xi, who had been managing various household chores by himself, is visibly annoyed. However, when Yao Yao apologizes for "leaving our home behind," You Xi's anger instantly melts away.
He repeats the phrase "our home" to himself several times with a wide smile. The next morning, still charmed by her words, You Xi eagerly offers to cook breakfast for her, repeatedly mentioning "our home's fridge" and "our home's dining room." Before the final interview, Zhu Da Zhuang informs You Xi about Duan Fei Fei's difficult circumstances: she is from a single-parent household, her mother is a cleaner, and her younger brother has leukemia, urgently needing a bone marrow transplant.
During the final interview, both Yao Yao and Duan Fei Fei display impressive knowledge of the Three Kingdoms. The tie-breaker question asks for the most representative award for young artists, offering "Golden Dragon Award" and "Golden Turnip Award" as options. Duan Fei Fei confidently chooses "Golden Dragon Award," dismissing the "Golden Turnip Award" as a joke. Watching the interview, You Xi wryly recalls that he himself once won a "Golden Turnip."
Yao Yao, however, chooses "Golden Turnip Award," explaining that overthinking simple matters can lead to a trap. The interviewer declares Yao Yao's answer correct, making her the winner. After the interview, Duan Fei Fei confronts Yao Yao, stating that she doesn't accept the result and vowing to defeat her in the future. You Xi, having learned about Duan Fei Fei's plight, immediately instructs Zhu Da Zhuang to anonymously transfer funds for her brother's surgery to the hospital.
Zhu Da Zhuang is initially confused, thinking You Xi would want publicity, but You Xi firmly emphasizes anonymity. Meanwhile, Duan Fei Fei receives a call from her mother, joyfully informing her that the money for her brother's surgery has been paid, leaving Duan Fei Fei bewildered but relieved. Shortly after, Yao Yao excitedly shares her own good news with You Xi: she has secured the assistant teacher job.
Elsewhere, rival actor Song Qie Ge secures the lead role in a new project titled "Zhong Fu." He also acquires a contract for another drama, "Torn Apart," slated to begin filming concurrently with You Xi's "Founding of the Three Kingdoms," and states his intention to focus on competing with You Xi. Meanwhile, to celebrate Yao Yao's new position, You Xi personally cooks a meal for her, and the two enjoy a pleasant, harmonious atmosphere.
The following morning, while jogging, Yao Yao receives a call from her ex-boyfriend, Yin Jiu. Calling him "scum," she swiftly hangs up. You Xi, noticeably annoyed by the call, becomes quiet. Upon arriving at Jiangzhou University for the training, Yao Yao enthusiastically discusses her new role, but You Xi remains preoccupied and expresses distaste for the "ugly" clothes he has been given. Suddenly, Yin Jiu appears.
He approaches Yao Yao, stating he has many things to say and wishes to talk. Before Yao Yao can respond, You Xi firmly intervenes and refuses on her behalf. Unwilling to give up, Yin Jiu reaches out to pull Yao Yao, but You Xi quickly grabs his arm, resulting in a tense standoff.
