Assistant of Superstar Episode 12 Recap
> Assistant of Superstar Recap
After Pan Duo's attempt to persuade Yao Yao to return failed, You Xi met with her and his uncle, Qi Chao, to devise a new plan. Frustrated, You Xi blamed Pan Duo for her poor performance in the scheme. Qi Chao suggested that with someone like Yao Yao, the best strategy is proximity leading to affection over time. When You Xi asked how to achieve this proximity, Qi Chao pointed out that he needed an assistant.
Since Pan Duo had already been rejected for the role, Qi Chao suggested that Professor Yuchi might be able to help them. You Xi sought advice from Professor Yuchi, who explained that Yao Yao was resolute in her decisions and no one, not even he, could sway her.
Professor Yuchi then shifted the conversation to You Xi's upcoming historical drama, "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms", and stressed that You Xi must perform exceptionally well, as Yao Yao would be the first to disapprove of any poor acting. This remark immediately sparked an idea in You Xi's mind, and he expressed his gratitude to Professor Yuchi for the insight before leaving cheerfully.
You Xi posted a targeted message on his social media, visible only to Yao Yao, provocatively describing Lv Bu as a character solely consumed by romantic affairs and skilled at flirting. As You Xi anticipated, Yao Yao promptly called him, expressing her dismay. She passionately corrected his interpretation, explaining that Lv Bu was a valiant and invincible hero, citing the "Biography of Cao Man" which states, "Lv Bu is outstanding among men, just like Chi Tu is outstanding among horses."
Feigning disinterest, You Xi insisted he would portray the character as he pleased, intending to transform the historical drama into an idol drama. Recalling You Xi's previous lack of academic rigor, Yao Yao grew concerned that his incorrect approach to acting would disrupt her own studies. The following day, Yao Yao and Pan Duo visited You Xi, with Yao Yao expressing her concern that he might "ruin the classic" portrayal of Lv Bu.
She declared her intention to personally supervise his acting. While You Xi was having his costume photos taken for "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms", Yao Yao found his initial appearance too immature and his handling of Lv Bu's halberd incorrect. After she offered suggestions, You Xi's portrayal significantly improved. Pan Duo subtly pointed out to Yao Yao that You Xi struggled to capture the character's essence without her guidance.
Although Yao Yao voiced reservations about a full-time assistant role due to her academic schedule, Pan Duo reassured her that she would only need to tutor him part-time. Pan Duo further enticed Yao Yao by noting that if she became his assistant, they could see each other more often, and Yao Yao could even offer Pan Duo guidance. Convinced, Yao Yao agreed.
During the casting for "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms", Zheng Jia'er secured the role of Diao Chan, a part Pan Duo had ardently desired. Disappointed, Pan Duo felt You Xi had not supported her. However, You Xi explained that Diao Chan was a difficult role that often attracts criticism, and Zheng Jia'er’s poor acting would likely make her a target for public backlash.
He then highlighted the role of Sun Shang Xiang, who had a more appealing character arc across both parts of the drama. Yao Yao agreed, adding that Sun Shang Xiang was a well-developed character, whereas Diao Chan was merely "eye candy" with limited acting scope. Convinced by their reasoning, Pan Duo agreed to play Sun Shang Xiang.
Zhu Da Zhuang informed You Xi that Mr. Zhang's 50th birthday dinner, a major event for SG Entertainment, was scheduled for 7 PM the following evening. He stressed that You Xi, as one of the company's leading stars, was among the select few invited and must not be absent or late. Confident in his punctuality, You Xi requested to be woken up at 2 PM the next day for styling.
The next day, You Xi awoke to find it was already 5 PM. Annoyed, he called Yao Yao, questioning why she hadn't woken him as requested. Yao Yao replied that she was feeling unwell. Concerned, You Xi immediately went to her apartment and discovered she had a fever due to her menstrual period. Despite his initial confusion about the kitchen's location, he cooked ginger soup for her.
He insisted she drink it all, only departing for Mr. Zhang's dinner after she finished the entire bowl. At the birthday banquet, You Xi was visibly restless and eager to leave, showing little interest in Mr. Zhang's speech praising the company's success. Noticing You Xi's impatience, Mr. Zhang challenged him to toast every guest present before he could leave. You Xi accepted, quickly becoming heavily intoxicated and stumbling while repeatedly calling out Yao Yao’s nickname.
Pan Duo urgently called Yao Yao, who, despite still feeling unwell, immediately came to his rescue. Amidst his intoxication, You Xi drunkenly asked Yao Yao to be his girlfriend. Pan Duo encouraged Yao Yao to agree, assuring her that he would likely forget everything by morning. Yao Yao reluctantly agreed. You Xi then pulled her into a kiss, an act witnessed by Mr. Zhang, Zheng Jia'er, and Zhu Da Zhuang as they were leaving. Embarrassed, Yao Yao fled.
Later, when Zhu Da Zhuang questioned Pan Duo about the identity of the person who kissed You Xi, Pan Duo feigned ignorance. The next morning, You Xi awoke with a hazy memory but vividly recalled Yao Yao agreeing to be his girlfriend. Overjoyed, he immediately messaged her. However, his excitement turned to disappointment when Yao Yao replied, clarifying that she had only agreed to prevent him from causing more drunken mischief.
Later, Qi Chao advised You Xi that Yao Yao was a person who took things slowly and that he needed to be patient with her. At the opening ceremony for "The Founding of the Three Kingdoms", a crucial censer was found to be missing. Simultaneously, the opening ceremony for another historical drama, "Falling Apart", was also commencing nearby, and a conflict arose when both crews discovered they were vying for the same censer—the last one available.
Just as tensions escalated, Pan Duo appeared with a familiar-looking censer. She explained that she had taken it from You Xi’s balcony, intending to give it to her "idol," You Xi. With a replacement available, the other crew dismissively took the studio's censer, resolving the dispute.
