While in Wangchuan Gaoli, Baili Tusu received guidance from Nuwa, which led his mother, Han Xiuning’s spirit, to appear before him, revealing truths from over a decade ago. She explained that the Wu Meng Valley had long protected the ancient Sword of Burning Solitude with an enchantment, keeping outsiders at bay. However, Ouyang Shaogong and Lei Yan managed to break through this defense. Nuwa, foreseeing this, had dispatched Feng Guangmo, a sorcerer from Youdu, to assist.

Ouyang Shaogong used the power of the Cast Soul Stone, also known as the Yu Huang, to breach the barrier of the Cave of Ice. Together with Lei Yan, he then summoned the Blood Path formation, intent on seizing the spirit of the Sword of Burning Solitude. Witnessing their inability to prevent the sword spirit from escaping, Han Xiuning and Feng Guangmo performed a soul transfer, moving the spirit into Han Yunxi, who was Baili Tusu in his youth.

Lei Yan, overwhelmed by the Blood Path formation, collapsed with severe injuries, causing the array to shatter. Han Xiuning, Feng Guangmo, Lei Yan, Ouyang Shaogong, and Han Yunxi were all critically wounded. Lei Yan was the first to regain consciousness. Seeing his grand plan thwarted, he hastily buried the bodies of Han Xiuning and Han Yunxi, then took the injured Ouyang Shaogong and Feng Guangmo back to the Qingyu Clan.

Days later, Feng Guangmo awakened, only to find he had lost all his memories. Lei Yan, enraged by the failure, was about to kill Feng Guangmo, but Ouyang Shaogong intervened, allowing Feng Guangmo to depart on his own. Feng Guangmo subsequently changed his name to Yin Qianshang and began a life of wandering. Though Han Yunxi had died, the power of the Sword of Burning Solitude within him brought him back to life, albeit with most of his memories gone.

He respectfully carried his mother’s body to the depths of the Cave of Ice for preservation, vowing to one day revive her and to "slaughter all evil aura and awaken human souls." He then renamed himself Baili Tusu. Baili Tusu’s memories suddenly returned in full, including a childhood experience at Hongye Lake. He recalled meeting a young stranger whom he affectionately called "Big Brother." This kind stranger turned out to be Ouyang Shaogong.

Shaogong had given Tusu many playthings, winning his trust and subtly coaxing out the secret that the village’s enchantment could only be broken once a year. Armed with this knowledge, Shaogong chose that very day to break the enchantment, leading to a brutal massacre in the village. Tusu was consumed by sorrow, realizing that he himself had inadvertently betrayed his home and caused the demise of its people.

Suddenly, Ouyang Shaogong manifested before Tusu, revealing that half of his own soul had entered Tusu’s body during the Blood Path formation. This was why Tusu had dreamt of Taizi Changqin, for Ouyang Shaogong declared that he was indeed Taizi Changqin. Condemned by the heavens, Taizi Changqin’s soul was forbidden from reincarnation, prompting him to learn the art of Soul Transfer. As he aged, Taizi Changqin would perform this perilous ritual, expelling a host soul and claiming a new body.

The process was fraught with danger, risking the complete annihilation of his spirit and form. Even successful transfers often led to fragmented memories and agonizing pain, as if countless ants gnawed at his flesh. For thousands of years, Taizi Changqin had witnessed endless cycles of life and death, leaving him utterly alone. Only Princess Xun Fang of Penglai, aware of his Soul Transfer secret, had continued to love him, but tragically, she perished in a natural disaster in her homeland.

In Tianyong City, Tusu was accused by his fellow disciple Ling Duan of being a "monster" because of the seal on him. Tusu, deeply troubled, spoke with his Senior Brother Ling Yue, expressing his fear that he was indeed a monster. Ling Yue gently reassured him, urging him to focus solely on his Master’s teachings and training, and to disregard the other disciples' words.

He explained that the Master's actions, and his own as Tusu's senior brother, stemmed from genuine care. Tusu then asked if his death would make the evil aura disappear, ending the trouble for the Reverend and Ling Yue. Ling Yue dismissed such talk as nonsense, asserting that the Reverend saved Tusu precisely so he could live safely.

He shared his own story, recounting how their teacher had once asked him why he learned swordsmanship, advising him to live life to the fullest to repay their Master's kindness and to hold onto the hope of finding his family. After Tusu's escape from Tianyong City, Ling Yue faced the Head Reverend and his junior brother, Ling Duan. Ling Duan accused Ling Yue of releasing Tusu from confinement, holding him responsible for the death of their junior, Zhao Lin.

Ling Yue defended Tusu, asserting his belief that Tusu could not have committed the murder and that there must be another explanation. He argued that if Tusu had stayed, Ling Duan would have killed him, preventing any chance to clarify the matter. Ling Yue offered to investigate the truth impartially and, in a desperate plea, even offered his own life as punishment if Tusu was indeed found guilty.

The Head Reverend, acknowledging Ling Yue's unwavering loyalty and contributions to Tianyong City over the years, granted him time to uncover the truth. In his investigation, Ling Yue learned from a disciple that Tusu had appeared disoriented and had been held down by the Tianyong City sword array. While Zhao Lin’s body had been buried, it was confirmed he had been killed by the Sword of Burning Solitude.

Since Tusu had never left Tianyong City and was unfamiliar with the outside world, Ling Yue worried about his safety if the sword force acted up again. Meanwhile, Ouyang Shaogong was discussing his future plans with Yin Qianshang and Aunt Tong. He expressed his regret for having Yin Qianshang search fruitlessly for the jade. Shaogong mentioned a promise to meet a friend in Jiang Du the following month.

Yin Qianshang suggested that Jiang Du, being a prosperous hub, might also be a good place to inquire about the jade. However, Aunt Tong's health was visibly declining, showing signs of weakness since they left the Qingyu Clan. Yin Qianshang proposed that Shaogong and Aunt Tong return to Qin Chuan, a place not far from Jiang Du and Shaogong's home, where Aunt Tong could rest.

Yin Qianshang would continue his search in Jiang Du and send a letter with any news. Shaogong agreed to this arrangement. Upon arriving in Qin Chuan, Shaogong and Aunt Tong heard a peculiar zither sound. Shaogong went to investigate and discovered a stone demon playing the instrument. He realized this creature was guarding the Cast Soul Stone, the very jade he had been seeking. Shaogong slew the stone demon and retrieved the jade.

Concerned for Aunt Tong's deteriorating health, he decided they would rest in the demon's former hut for a few days to recuperate. Around the same time, Qing Xue, having failed to track the Sword of Burning Solitude from Tianyong City (unbeknownst to her, Ling Yue had given Tusu a special sheath that masked the sword's aura), realized Tusu might have gone to Qin Chuan to find Ouyang Shaogong and set off for the city.

Alone on the road, Tusu was once again overwhelmed by the evil aura within him, collapsing from the pain. Wu Shu, a magistrate, found him and took him home. Tusu eventually awoke, and Wu Shu, trusting his character, offered him a temporary position at the yamen. Tusu joined Wu Shu and his deputies in investigating a series of flower thief incidents. The deputies, however, suspected Tusu, being a newcomer to Qin Chuan.

Wu Shu defended Tusu, who, upon overhearing their conversation, offered to help catch the thief. Tusu sought information from Cha Xiaoguai, a local informant. Unwilling to pay upfront, Tusu promised a reward from the government upon the thief's capture. Using a map and their deductions, Tusu predicted that the Fang family's second young lady, Fang Ruqin, would be the flower thief's next target.

Meanwhile, Fang Lansheng, Ruqin's younger brother, also discussed the flower thief with his sister, urging increased security and even suspecting Tusu. Ruqin dismissed his suspicions and told him to focus on his studies. That night, Tusu covertly entered the Fang family estate to catch the flower thief. He accidentally triggered one of Lansheng's traps, causing Lansheng and his men to mistakenly believe Tusu was the culprit.

At that moment, a cry for help from Ruqin's room confirmed the flower thief's presence. Lansheng pursued the thief, who escaped through a window, while his servants reported Tusu's escape, further cementing Lansheng's belief that Tusu and the thief were in cahoots. Lansheng tried to chase Tusu, but Ruqin intervened. Tusu pursued the flower thief to a stream where he encountered Qing Xue bathing. After a brief scuffle, Qing Xue realized it was Tusu and was overjoyed.

Lansheng and his men then arrived, again mistakenly believing Tusu was assaulting Qing Xue. Qing Xue clarified that she and Tusu were friends and were merely talking. Tusu, stating he was chasing the thief and that Wu Shu could corroborate his story, left. Lansheng had his servants follow Tusu. When Qing Xue also wanted to leave, Lansheng advised her to get dressed first. Wu Shu later vouched for Tusu's innocence to Ruqin.

Discussing the flower thief, Ruqin described the thief as both ugly and handsome, leading Qing Xue to suspect disguise. Qing Xue introduced herself as Tusu's junior sister and offered to help. Wu Shu suggested Tusu remain at the Fang family for protection, and Qing Xue also agreed to stay, needing only food. Ruqin was amused, noting their similar, food-driven connections. Qing Xue eagerly ate, and Tusu asked why she was looking for him. She revealed Ling Yue had sent her.

Despite Tusu's protests, she insisted on staying by his side, though she was saddened that he didn't remember her. She playfully gave him the nickname "Susu." Lansheng, discovering Qing Xue was Tusu's junior sister, immediately pestered her for magic lessons. She deflected him by releasing spirit butterflies for him to chase, then followed Tusu. While at the Fang family estate, Tusu was performing chores.

Fang Lansheng, the young master, approached him, playfully calling him "cold face hero" and teasing him about needing to eat. Lansheng's servant, however, suspected Tusu was a thief and threatened to report him. Moments later, Lansheng saw Tusu soar away, confirming his belief that Tusu was a "sword immortal." He then offered Tusu a place to stay at his house in exchange for magic lessons, which Tusu silently ignored.

Lansheng eventually recognized Tusu as the "cold face hero" he had previously encountered. Later, Lansheng discussed Tusu with his elder sister, Fang Ruqin, complaining about her unyielding devotion to Shaogong. Ruqin, however, defended her decision to help Tusu, citing her family's tradition of charitable deeds. Lansheng then tried to persuade Ruqin to let Tusu teach him magic, but she scolded him for his disrespect and for neglecting his family responsibilities.

She insisted that Tusu was a guest, not a personal servant, and would soon leave. Despite Ruqin's warnings, Lansheng cornered Tusu, asking if he knew Ouyang Shaogong. Tusu confirmed he knew Shaogong and was searching for him. Lansheng, eager to learn magic, proposed a deal: if Tusu taught him martial arts, he would share information about Shaogong, claiming he and his sister were Shaogong’s closest childhood friends.

Tusu, though initially stating his sect forbade teaching outsiders, eventually agreed to teach Lansheng some basic cultivation techniques. He explained that Tianyong City’s skills could not be taught to outsiders, but he would teach him the "constellation form," a basic skill involving qi regulation and meditation. Lansheng struggled with the practice, complaining about its tediousness and lack of "magic glow." He tried to use his jade pendant to boost his progress, which indeed manifested as a glowing Bixie image.

Tusu encouraged him to continue practicing consistently. However, when Tusu pressed him for information about Shaogong, Lansheng admitted he had lied and did not know Shaogong’s whereabouts, suggesting Tusu ask his sister. Frustrated by Lansheng's deceit, Tusu ended the lesson. Shortly after, Ruqin spoke to Tusu, acknowledging his integrity but requesting that he leave because Lansheng had become too obsessed with learning magic from him.

She offered him wages, but Tusu refused, feeling he owed her kindness and had caused trouble. As Tusu prepared to depart, Lansheng’s servant falsely accused him of stealing Lansheng’s jade pendant. Lansheng, initially claiming the pendant was unimportant, later insisted Tusu was a thief and called for guards. Tusu, who despised being wrongly accused, denied the theft. Wu Shu, the magistrate, arrived and quickly defused the situation, confirming that no theft had occurred and telling his men to stand down.

Tusu then left the Fang family. Tusu and Qing Xue then visited Cha Xiaoguai to gather more intelligence. Tusu, still unfamiliar with social norms, bluntly asked victims if they had been "picked like a flower," earning him scoldings and laughter from Qing Xue. After visiting several homes without solid leads, they noticed a recurring detail: the presence of identical orchids. Qing Xue discovered a stupefying drug in these orchids.

At another victim's house, a peculiar woman expressed adoration for the flower thief, claiming he hadn't truly "lightly touched" her and that he was as handsome as Pan An. She, too, had received the same orchid. Returning to the Fang family, Tusu and Qing Xue questioned Ruqin about the orchids. Ruqin recalled throwing them away. They retrieved the discarded orchids, and through further analysis, Ruqin remembered that Miss Sun Yuanyan's family might have such orchids.

Tusu suspected the flower thief was obtaining the orchids from the Sun family before committing crimes. Ruqin, however, wondered why the thief hadn't targeted Sun Yuanyan, who was also a beauty. Tusu decided to investigate the Sun family. Ruqin warned them that Sun Yuanyan's nanny was highly protective, making it difficult for outsiders to enter. Qing Xue confidently stated she had a plan.

Qing Xue and Tusu arrived at the Sun manor with a pot of fake orchids, claiming to be delivering them. The guard called the nanny, whom Qing Xue sweetly charmed into allowing her to see Miss Sun, though Tusu had to wait outside. Inside, Miss Sun dismissed the nanny and questioned Qing Xue about the fake orchids. Qing Xue explained the flower thief investigation.

Miss Sun, intrigued, took Qing Xue to her garden, where a "flower servant" with an ugly appearance tended the orchids. Qing Xue observed many Pure Heart Purple Orchids. Miss Sun asked the flower servant about a missing pot, and he explained he had made a sachet for her, praising the orchid's benefits. Qing Xue inquired about the flower servant's background. The nanny soon returned and led Miss Sun back to her room.

Qing Xue and Tusu discussed their findings, finding the flower servant suspicious but without concrete evidence. They decided to revisit the Sun manor the next day. Lansheng interrupted, insisting he join them. Qing Xue skillfully dissuaded him. Lansheng then asked about Miss Sun's appearance, puzzled why the flower thief hadn't targeted her.

Qing Xue questioned why beautiful women should be targets, to which Lansheng replied that everyone likes beautiful women, even taking Qing Xue's hand and complimenting her beauty, causing her to get angry and leave, feeling "lightly touched." Tusu remained oblivious. Miss Sun was embroidering a sachet, and her nanny urged her to rest, but Miss Sun expressed her discontent with being confined and unable to leave.

The nanny consoled her, promising she could go out after overcoming an "eighteen-year tribulation" and vowing to protect her. The next day, Qing Xue visited the Sun family again. The nanny, now aware of the flower thief, intended to report to the authorities, but Qing Xue persuaded her not to, assuring her that she and Tusu would guarantee Miss Sun's safety. The nanny mentioned that the flower servant had taken flowers to a temple to pray for marriage.

Seeing Miss Sun enjoying Qing Xue's company, the nanny left them to prepare lunch. Qing Xue and Miss Sun conversed. Qing Xue offered to have a friend examine Miss Sun's illness upon his return. Miss Sun asked about Tusu outside, and Qing Xue openly admitted he was someone she had loved since childhood. Outside, Tusu spotted a suspicious individual and pursued him, but the person vanished instantly. While searching, Tusu happened to catch a girl rolling down from a tree.

The girl, seeing Tusu, immediately recalled her childhood, realizing she was Xiang Ling, the young fox demon whom Han Yunxi (Tusu in his youth) had once chased. Xiang Ling recognized Tusu and left happily. Meanwhile, Miss Sun, moved by Qing Xue's story, confided that she too had a childhood crush: Fang Lansheng. Qing Xue encouraged Miss Sun to confess her feelings, and Miss Sun, emboldened, decided to give Lansheng the sachet she was embroidering.

Tusu and Qing Xue analyzed the clues, but the case remained at an impasse. At this point, Lansheng arrived, inviting them to join him and Ruqin at the Matchmaker Temple tomorrow for incense offerings. Qing Xue's eyes lit up, and she eagerly agreed to go. Soon after, Ouyang Shaogong returned to Qin Chuan and was reunited with Tusu, joining the efforts to catch the flower thief.

To infiltrate Fanyun Village, the suspected hideout of the flower thief, Shaogong devised a plan to have Lansheng disguise himself as a girl. During the infiltration, Lansheng unwittingly lost the Cast Soul Stone (Yu Huang) that Shaogong had placed in his bag. Meanwhile, Fang Ruqin had been abducted by the flower thief and was being forced to marry the village leader. To her surprise and relief, Shaogong and his companions arrived to rescue her, but their plans were suddenly interrupted by the appearance of the village leader.
